Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

Standing Firm in Kashatagh: Tufenkian Foundation Preserves Region’s Armenian Roots

NEW YORK—The Tufenkian Foundation this week announced a new initiative on behalf of Kashatagh (formerly Lachin), the province of Nagorno-Karabagh that provides vital links to Armenia. The initiative will focus on restoring and protecting Kashatagh’s historic monuments and cultural artifacts, which attest to the region’s Armenian character and background. The initiative comes only days after an OSCE summit called for Karabagh’s withdrawal from so-called “occupied territories,” and is designed as a direct response to this affront to Karabagh’s sovereignty and self-determination.

“Many people know Kashatagh to be the vital, strategic link between Karabagh and Armenia,” noted Foundation director Antranig Kasbarian. “Less known is that the region has Armenian roots historically—roots that were torn out via massacre and deportation in 1918-20. Now that the region has been liberated, we believe we must emphasize that Azerbaijan’s claims to it are artificial, and cannot enjoy support from the international community.”

To kick off this effort, the Foundation has begun renovating the historic St. Minas Church, built in the 16th century and found in the village of Hak—which traces its Armenian ancestry to the 11th century. After its Armenian population was wiped out in a massacre by Azeri forces in October 1918, Hak was reclaimed by Armenian forces in 1992 and is now subject to an active resettlement policy by Karabagh authorities. Alongside the church renovations, the Foundation will also renovate nearby Armenian cemeteries and will build a new water supply for the village, which currently houses 50 inhabitants.

This effort has been made possible by a generous grant from Virginia Davies of New York City. Other supporters have also come forward with offers of assistance, which will be publicized in coming weeks.

Google makes gross mistake about Azerbaijan (PHOTO)

          21 July 2009 [16:38] - Today.Az
Day. Az has reported on numerous occasions that largest Russian portal Mail.ru, mobile operators Megafon, Kievstar, Astelit, MTS Ukraine and VELCOM GSM have called into question the facts related to Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity.

Unfortunately, the afore-said list includes also Google, one of the largest search system worldwide, which has made gross mistakes related to Azerbaijan.

The Azerbaijani map posted by Google indicates three Azerbaijani regions – Khankandi, Agdara and Khojavand - with Armenian toponyms. Khankandi is indicated as Stepanakert, Agdara as Mardakert and Khojavand as Martuni.

Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Elkhan Polukhov said the ministry will study this issue. “We will send official inquiry to relevant agencies.”

We hope that Google will rename Stepanakert into Khankandi, Mardakert into Agdara and Martuni into Khojavand after we publish this article.

We call on all our readers to write a letter of protest and fill in an online form with the content that can be as follows:

          “Hello

Admittedly, Google is the largest search system worldwide. So, we consider it important to bring into your notice that the Google map related to Azerbaijan includes gross mistakes which harms Azerbaijan’s interests.

We kindly ask you to rename Stepanakert into Khankandi, Mardakert into Agdara and Martuni into Khojavand in your map as these regions are located in Azerbaijan’s territory and have Azerbaijani, but not Armenian names. We believe that mistakes related to Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity are not deliberate and will be corrected as soon as possible.”

God when will they stop. i mean its getting ridiculous already. Russia calls azeri food Armenian, wikipedia is full of lies about Artsakh, google maps has wrong names, etc.
Apparently the only thing azeris are better than the Armenians is in whining nonstop about mundane things.

Azerbaijan makes a big issue regarding the future of Karabakh as a region of Azerbaijan with a high degree of autonomy.

Naming regional town names is hardly a Central Government prerogative especially if the region is autonomous.

Considering that these towns have had their names for many years if not hundreds of years changing them by directives is more akin to occupation.

The Azeri behaviour betrays their ultimate goal of Turkifying the region “once they get their hands on it”.

What would come next Turkifying road names and then peoples names?

I think their gross stupidity is showing their hand before even having a chance in hell of getting Karabagh back.

I would say to the Azeris, keep it up you are doing a great job!
Politics is not about the pursuit of morality nor what's right or wrong
Its about self interest at personal and national level often at odds with the above.

MOSCOW -- Soviet helicopters fired machine guns into an Armenian village yesterday in apparent reprisal for an ambush on a column of troops, Armenian officials said.

One soldier was killed and eight wounded in the ambush by Armenian militants in Azerbaijan near the border between the two southern republics, news reports said. There were no immediate reports of casualties from the Soviet attack in the village of Paravakar in Armenia.

The attack on the troops was the first major act of resistance by Armenian militants in two weeks of fighting along the tense, 600-mile border.
