What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

This exhibition features 15-17 cc. exceptional objects presented by Safavid and Ottoman kings to Russian tsars. The information of brochures and under the exhibits reads the presents of Safavid tsars (Shah Ismail 1) as “presents of Iranian Safavid rulers contributed to New Julfa Armenian governance”.

It is also mentioned that Armenian merchants were holding major outlets in New Julfa region. However Azeris were shocked to know that Safavid Empire was mainly populated by Armenians and there was no mention of Azerbaijani in the exhibition brochures.

New Julfa is located in North-West of Iran, at Nakhchivan border. Whereas Old Julfa is in Nakhchivan’s territory, where within last years Azeris destroyed all Armenian graves (with the crosses as a gravestone) to eradicate any reminders of Armenians living there.

The exhibition, lasting till September 13, 2009 is sponsored by “LUKOIL” Company, U.S.-Russia Business Council, U.S.-Russia Chamber of Commerce and organized by Moscow Kremlin Museum, Arthur M. Sackler Gallery and Smithsonian Institution.

here is the azeri rebuttal and may i say its very funny

A number of facts about Azerbaijani history rigged on exhibition in
    Washington

The United States, Washington, Aug. 17 /Trend News, N.Bogdanova/

A number of facts about Azerbaijani history were rigged on an
exhibition "The Tsar and East gifts from Turkey and Iran in the
Moscow, Kremlin" in Washington DC at the Smithsonian Institution.

The exhibition represents items of 15th-17-th centuries that were
given as a present by Safavid and Ottoman kings to Russian tsars.

Both on the information booklet and explanations under some items the
presents given to tsars by Safavid kings, (especially by Shah Ismail
    1) are represented as "Iranian Safavid king's presents given with the
help of ruling New Julfa Armenians".

The information also doesn't state where exactly New Julfa belongs
to. It is just mention that in those years Armenian merchants were a
dominating the region of New Julfa and they had there trade
centers. The book published on the occasion of the exhibition says
that Armenians contained the majority of Safavid Imperia. There is no
any reminder about Azerbaijan in the book and at the exhibition.

Julfa is a city in the Eastern Azerbaijan Province of the
north-western Iran which is located in the border with Nakhchivan
Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan. Its administrative centre is the
Julfa city. Population numbers about 56,000 people (2006).

Julfa as the entire Nakhchivan-Zangazur region is a subject of dispute
between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Armenians claim to Julfa, seeking to
present this city to the world as an Armenian city.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988
when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenian
armed forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan since 1992,
including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and 7 surrounding
districts. Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in
1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group - Russia, France, and the
U.S. - are currently holding the peace negotiations.

Sponsors of the exhibition are the LUKoil company, US-Russia business
Council and Russian-American Chamber of Trade. The exhibition is
organized by the Moscow Kremlin museums and the Arthur M.Sackler
Gallery, Smithsonian institute. The exhibition will last till
    September 13th.

Today.Az » Politics » War on Wikipedia pages goes on: Azerbaijan vs. Armenia

        24 August 2009 [18:12] - Today.Az

Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, is very popular around the world. But the errors or deliberate distortions of many articles related to Azerbaijan, especially the Karabakh conflict, have become frequent.

Many of us is aware that Wikipedia is an open encyclopedic online resource which contains all kinds of information and the continuously expanding articles on various subjects.

Day.Az continue to receive letters every day which note regular errors in Wikipedia.

Information about Azerbaijan is frequently deliberately distorted.

It is very easy to recognize mistakes. For example, anyone who types ‘Armenia’, ‘Karabakh’, ‘Artsakh’, ‘Karabakh ‘conflict in the Wikipedia search box, will see deliberate errors about Azerbaijan’s history, traditions and Karabakh conflict.

For example, typing the word ‘Armenia’, visitors will see the following information: “Armenia is a state in the Caucasus. It borders with Artsakh in the south-east.” Once you type ‘Karabakh conflict’, the page, among other false information about the conflict, includes also the following inscription: “The territory of Nagorno-Karabakh was within the province of Artsakh in ancient times.”

If you write the word ‘Artsakh’ you will read the following: “Artsakh is the name of 9th province of Greater Armenia (historical region between the rivers Kura and Aras). It covers present-day Nagorno-Karabakh and the outlying regions.”

One can encounter dozens of similar mistakes in Wikipedia.

In fact, there is no information war on Wikipedia pages. Admittedly, many drive necessary information from the free encyclopedia. Armenians also, being aware of this, refer to sources profitable for them and misinform the international community.

We call on all Azerbaijani citizens and those who are aware of the truth to correct the mistakes related to Azerbaijan’s history, geography, Karabakh conflict and traditions.

It is noticeable that thank to efforts by Day.Az and its readers, Mehaphone, MTC, National geographic, Mail.ru and other famous companies have corrected mistakes concerning Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity.

Experience shows that errors are corrected. The main thing is to act!

if they would actually look at the discussion section they would realize that Armenians and azeris both post articles from different sources and the Armenians are the ones who get there info from reliable sources unlike the azeris who post from azeri sources. each article is reviewed by both groups and if both agree its reliable they post it. The articles are pro Armenian because Armenians have the reliable sources unlike azeris.

Do you know what exactly was wrong about that book? It can be just a dirty campaign of some jealous hayastantsi historians against Richard Hovhanisyan. And certainly got nothing to do with information war.It is internal Armenian issue.

You can watch the three part video here, part II 2:30 has stuff on Hovhanissian. He probably has the least dirt on him compared to some of the other clowns.

Largest Russian bank carries out money transfers to Azerbaijan’s occupied lands

                    25 August 2009 [15:54] - Today.Az

As surprising as it may sound, one can carry out express money transfers to Nagorno-Karabakh via Sberbank (Savings Bank), largest bank in Russia and CIS area.

So, Sberbank de facto helps Armenian diaspora to transfer money to the unrecognized “Nagorno Karabakh Republic” and helps Nagorno-Karabakh separatists.

Assets of Sberbank make up quarter of Russia's banking system and it has share of 30 percent in country’s banking capital. According to the magazine ‘The Banker’ (as of July 1, 2009), Sberbank held 38th place for volume of the fixed capital (first-level capital) among the largest banks in the world.

Hot line at the Sberbank also confirmed that the bank carries remittances to Nagorno-Karabakh.

“It is possible to carry out money transfers to Nagorno-Karabakh. The money transfer will be carried out with the help of our correspondent bank. You can get familiar with the list of correspondent banks, depending on the currency transferred, in the office of the Sberbank,” specialist at the hot line who introduced herself as Svetlana said.

Hot line specialist also said that one can transfer money to any bank in Nagorno-Karabakh via Sberbank.

“You can transfer money to any bank located in Nagorno-Karabakh. Sberbank transfers money to any area of the globe, regardless of in which republic or state it is located,” specialist at hot line Tatiana said.

While trying to explain to the specialist that Nagorno Karabakh is an inalienable part of Azerbaijan and cooperation with banks operating in Karabakh is illegal she said the following: “
I understand your concerns very well, but the transfers are carried out.”

The Sberbank official Web site states that the transfers to Nagorno-Karabakh is available in two branches of ARDSHININVESTBANK.

Azerbaijan’s Central Bank has always respond to such facts in time and has sent official letter of protest to relevant banks engaged in similar activities.

It is noticeable that systems of money transfers such as WesternUnion and Migom ceased money transfers to Nagorno-Karabakh separatists due to series of articles by Day.Az and Azerbaijani Central Bank’s intervention. Moneygram remittance system which ignored Azerbaijani Central Bank’s request was banned in Azerbaijan.

Another persuasive book about NKR conflict

“Noyev Kovcheg” (Noah's Ark), Armenian Diaspora daily published in Russia has recently commented on Arsen Melik-Shahnazaryan’s book, foreign affairs journalist. The book titled “Nagorno-Karabakh: facts against lie” raises the issues of information-ideological aspects of Karabakh conflict.

Shahnazaryan aimed at filtering the history of the conflict between NKR Armenians (in the broadest sense, not within Nagorno-Karabakh autonomy) and pseudo-Azerbaijani nationalistic authorities.

Arsen Melik-Shahnazaryan went to the heart of Karabakh issue, devoting special attention to well-reasoned exposure of falsifications of the Baku pretendants of other’s territories and their foreign accomplices. As a result, we have an absorbing and thrilling book for laymen.

The reader should turn attention to the conclusions Melik-Shahnazaryan makes, all supported by facts and documents. They are persuasive for the politicians, engaged in the conflict both from Armenian and Azerbaijani side, enabling to rationally evaluate the situation. Reading the book, they will be able to analyze who is right and who is wrong, as well as offer optimal decisions on the principles of natural law, that is on the list of justice principles as well.

The book reflects the main landmarks of the national statehood establishment and Artsakh people to exercise their right for self-determination.
