Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!


2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

    The Deputy Speaker of the British House of Lords Baroness Caroline C0cks gave interview to Aysor.am web site answering to the questions addressed to her.

    To the reporter’s question whether the international community is so well informed about the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict to resist the disinformation spread by Azerbaijan’s campaign, Ms C0cks answered:

    “I think currently Azerbaijan wastes much to circulate “Khojalu events” phrase. But, I know, that Armenian side has informed Azerbaijani side about the assault, hence giving Azerbaijani people opportunity to leave the territory. The Azerbaijani themselves say they have been informed about the assault. I can state, that Armenians have done everything to escape innocent victims. As the fact that innocent victims are always tragedy is indisputable. But Azerbaijan gave preference to use its own people as a living shield, and then the Azerbaijani campaign used its dead people to resume a show. Khojalu is not the same as presented by Azerbaijan; they were given a chance to escape what had happened. Armenians don’t need any campaign, as the truth is theirs. Armenian Embassies and representation house in different countries need to make the truth audible. I guess, Azerbaijan can not win this informative war. The international community should acknowledge that Armenians are not aggressors, they are victims.”

      The right to a healthy environment and normal life is intentionally and continuously violated by Armenia, a member of the Azerbaijani delegation to PACE, MP Rafael Huseynov, said on Sept. 30, making a speech during discussion on Portuguese MP Jose Mendes Bota's report "Drafting an additional protocol to the European Convention on Human Rights concerning the right to a healthy environment" within the autumn session of the organization.

      As the healthy environment is directly linked to human life, Huseynov said, of course, it can not be considered only as an environmental problem. This is also a political issue and should be studied along with human rights.

      "Over the past nine years, Azerbaijan's active participation in the Council of Europe's activities related to environmental issues proceeds from the above-mentioned factors. Facing with the occupation of its territories, Azerbaijan has repeatedly said that Armenia inflicts damages to the ecology of the country. If the military annexation and its destruction take place within a short period, the ecological war has longer-term consequences that bring even greater tragedy," said MP.

      Noting that Azerbaijan has repeatedly raised in PACE the issue of Armenia's cultivation of narcotic substances on the occupied and internationally uncontrolled territories of Azerbaijan, dumping radioactive substances in land, as well as pollution of rivers with poisonous chemicals and radioactive substances, Huseynov said that the fires committed by the Armenian side also take a systematic character.

      "Over recent years, the fires committed by the Armenian side on the occupied territories and in border areas have been taking a systematic character. Along with damages to the environment, these lead to the fact that people living near those areas are under constant stress and fear. Another significant blow inflicted by the Armenian occupation is that nothing is grown on these territories. Returning these lands back to normal condition will take long years," said Huseynov.

      "To live and live healthy is the highest human right. Insidious attitude towards nature is worse than the violence through the fire. The destruction of nature jeopardizes not only the present but also for the future humankind. Thus, Azerbaijani population's right for normal living is intentionally and continuously violated by Armenia," said the MP.

      "Azerbaijan, which faced similar problems, appreciates the additional protocol to the European Convention on Human Rights, recognising the right to a healthy and viable environment, but only provided that the protocol must be applicable to all, mainly a disorganized country like Armenia," said the MP.

      There is not only damage to the ecology of Azerbaijan by Armenia, but also a violation of ecological balance within the country, which jeopardizes the people of Armenia as well. For several years, the Armenian authorities have been infringing upon the right of the green movement in Armenia. We hope that the requirements of the protocol will also act in those countries that do not recognize the laws," said the member of the Azerbaijani delegation.

      "We want to believe that the protocol adopted will make a positive contribution to solving the problem and Europe will become a place where human right to a healthy existence will be ensured at the highest level," said Rafael Huseynov.

        BAKU (Combined Sources)—A reporter working for the Turkish NTV television station was summed to the Azeri Foreign Ministry on Wednesday where he was stripped of his media accreditation in Azerbaijan, Azeri Foreign Ministry Spokesman Elkhan Polukhov told reporters at a press conference.
        The journalist, Ramin Abdullayev, was notified that his employer NTV had also been barred from reporting in Azerbaijan.
        The move came in response to an interview of Nagorno-Karabakh Foreign Minister Georgi Petrosian conducted on September 9 by NTV and the Turkish Milliyet newspaper. Baku has accused the television company’s reporters of illegally crossing into “occupied Azerbaijani territories” to conduct the interview.
        “It was Azerbaijan’s response to the NTV journalists who illegally traveled to occupied Azerbaijani territories receiving accreditation in the so-called Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, which disappointed Azerbaijan,” Polukhov said.
        The Azeri Foreign Ministry last Friday complained to the Turkish Embassy in Baku that the NTV journalist’s visit to Karabakh “disappointed Azerbaijan” and called for the Turkish Foreign Ministry to take measures to investigate and address the matter.
        Despite the uproar in Azerbaijan in the wake of the controversy, the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic continues to grant visas to journalists from Turkey requesting credentials to visit and report in the republic, an official statement from the Karabakh Foreign Ministry said Wednesday.
        Turkish journalists continue to submit applications to the Karabakh authorities for entry into the republic to cover current events surrounding the Karabakh conflict and the Turkey-Armenia protocols, the statement said, citing Karabakh’s commitment to press freedoms and public discourse.
        “The Nagorno Karabakh Republic is open to journalists, irrespective of the country they represent. The NKR authorities also proceed from the fact that an objective and detailed presentation of the situation in the republic to the world will only contribute to the peaceful settlement of the conflict with Azerbaijan and to the international recognition of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic,” the statement said.

          (Tavush region) resident Gagik Saturyan.

          As ArmInfo correspondent reported, the bullet wounded the civilian on
          the leg. The wound turned not be dangerous for his life. The incident
          happened today at 11:30 AM, at the time when monitoring was held by
          the OSCE at the line of contact between the armed forces of Armenia
          and Azerbaijan, at Kirants (Armenia) - Mirazli (Azerbaijan) direction.

              Azerbaijan Hints At Nagorno Karabakh Recognition

              This morning Azerbaijan's presidential administration staff member dropped a very serious hint that may lead to the recognition of Nagorno Karabakh's independence. The news report came from Azeri media.

              Chief of the Public and Political Department of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan Ali Hasanov told reporters that "Azerbaijan originally stated resolutely that any attempt to impose the solution of the conflict to the detriment of the territorial integrity of the country will not be accepted by Azerbaijan. But we take into account the real situation and the conditions for further life and respect for the rights of ethnic Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh. We are prepared to respect their rights on the basis of international law." His words are reported by Today.az.

              There are two things that needs to be seriously taken into consideration in Mr. Hasanov's words. The first the the absense of phrase "territorial integrity" that has been ever present in the official Bauk's vocabulary. It has been replaced by the phrase "intenational law." The second, which is even more important is the phrase "but we take into account the real situation."

              When Mr. Hasanov, which is not any politician, but a member of the presidential administration of Azerbaijan, says that his country is "prepared to respect their rights on the basis of international law" is indeed a serious step forward.

              This is a good and constructive announcement on the part of Azerbaijan ahead of the visit of the Minsk group co-chais to the region this week. The co-chairs, earlier this morning said that the updated versions of the Madrid principles are ready and will be presented to the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan. The main point, among other things, in the Madrid principles is the "legally bound expression of will" of the population of the Nagorno Karabakh that will lead it to independence.

              This announcement may be the first ever hint by Azerbaijan that it is ready to take into consideration the "real situation" and show "respect for the rights of the ethnic Armenians of Nagorno Karabakh."

              On the backdrop of this announcement the expectations may rise ahead of the meeting of the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan. The Russian co-chair Mr. Yuri Merzlyakov told the Trend News that the Minsk Group will work on preparing a meeting between the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia scheduled for October 10 in Chisinau.

              On October 9 the capital of Moldova will hold a summit of CIS countries. If Azerbaijan continues its constructive rhetoric about the rights and security of the Armenian majority of Nagorno Karabakh, this will certainly be a new beginning that may show the light at the end of the tunnel in settling the Armenian Azerbaijani conflict for the independence of Nagorno Karabakh's Republic.

                    I dought the current defence line will remain, i am pretty sure we will have to give something back to make the deal look fair but whatever we give it will be our choice thus not a important part strategicaly. If we give nothing back there will most likely be another war and the odds are against us as usual. Obviously we have beaten the odds befor but there is no need for a bloddy war again when our side can get what it wants without it.

                      I am coming to the conclusion that you do not have more than two brain cells.

                      Read my post specially the line you quoted.

                      The reason why there was not war was the defense line. Remove and you create an opportunity.
                      Politics is not about the pursuit of morality nor what's right or wrong
                      Its about self interest at personal and national level often at odds with the above.
