As you can see, the information war is not only against the Turkic hordes but the West as well which includes some Armenians.

    AGAINST FALSIFICATION OF ARMENIAN HISTORY

    Dear Armenian!

There has been ongoing falsification of Armenian history in the academic publications and universities across the United States. Please raise your voice and publish the official statement made by the Pan Armenian Network (PanArmenian.net). Also, please sign and urge all your readers to sign the petition Against Falsification of Armenian History at: www.gopetition.com/online/24480.html

Online Armenian history textbook to be launched

09.03.2009 /PanARMENIAN.Net/ Armenian students in the United States called on the academic councils of the universities in the U.S. to remove from circulation the book titled "The Armenian People: From Ancient to Modern Times" because of the numerous mistakes it contains, the student initiative group told PanArmenian.net.

"Outrageous mistakes and falsifications in The Armenian People: From Ancient to Modern Times are countless. Any student, who would make such horrible mistakes during an exam, would receive an F and fail. So, how come this anti-scholastic book and its authors have continued to use this book since 1997, and even have republished it in 2004 without making ANY CORRECTIONS whatsoever? For many years, Armenian scholars from Armenia have repeatedly exposed and criticized this falsified book in their scientific publications. Yet, the chief editor continues to insist that the critics of this unscientific textbook are violating the freedom of academic expression," the students’ letter says.

On February 23, 2009, Armenian Ministry of Diaspora sent an official letter, which stated that the efforts of creating an online Armenian History textbook for colleges and universities are already underway. This textbook will be in many languages (Armenian, English, Russian, etc.) and will be available online at the official site of the Armenian National Academy of Sciences for a free download to all students of Armenian History and Culture. Finally, the New Generation of Diasporans will have at their disposal an Armenian History textbook that will contain genuine Armenian Studies book, without falsifications and distortions.http://www.panarmenian.net/news/eng/?nid=29268

See the material below on how the Armenian History is grossly falsified in The Armenian People from Ancient to Modern Times. This "textbook" is used throughout many colleges and universities across the United States. The removal from circulation of this anti-scholastic and anti-Armenian textbook is essential.

It is beyond ignorance to speak about "Ancient Turkey" and "Ancient Turkish Art" in 330 BC. This is simply falsification of history in a "prestigious" United States university like UC Berkeley.

There are more than 130 gross mistakes and falsifications of Armenian History in this textbook entitled - The Armenian People from Ancient to Modern Times. Armenian students are being "taught" this falsified History of Armenia throughout the colleges and universities in the United States.

The Petition against Falsification of Armenian History

We, the undersigned, call on the academic councils of the universities in the US to remove from circulation the book - The Armenian People: From Ancient to Modern Times.

Why is it essential that The Armenian People: From Ancient to Modern Times two-volume textbook must be removed from circulation? We will present a number of simple examples.

    1. There are countless gross mistakes in this textbook. The book (J. Russell) calls the Armenian people "colonists" (Vol. I, page 23-24) in their own Motherland, who have "overran" the native "Hurro-Urarteans". The textbook (J. Russell) falsely "teaches" (Vol. I, page 27) that the Fortress of Erebuni was erected by Argishti the Second, when in fact the fortress was built by Argishti the First. Furthermore, the book (N. Garsoian) states (Vol. I, page 42) that during the Yervanduni dynasty (5th to 2nd centuries BC) the Armenians did not have cities. (Garsoian also falsely states that the Yervanduni dynasty is not Armenian). In the ninth chapter (R. Thomson), 5th century Armenian historians are called "extremely shadowy figures" who "cannot be taken at face value". Furthermore, the same author (Vol. I, page 215) calls the Father of Armenian History, a pseudo-historian who never lived in the 5th century. In the chapter on the medieval Armenian literature and culture (Vol. I, page 295), the author (P. Cowe) reaches new heights of treachery by presenting giants of Armenian culture like Kostandin Erznkatsi, Hovhannes Erznkatsi and Nahapet Kuchak as authors who "adopted" Turkish, Persian and other Islamic literature. In fact, in the same book, Cowe claims that Nahapet Kuchak is a pseudo-author. He also claims that the Armenian national epic, the Daredevils of Sasun, is simply the later Armenian version of the Persian Rustam Zal. In many of the chapters of the book a number of authors use the Turkish terminology for Armenian Highland and call it "eastern Anatolia" (just one example from R. Suny, Vol. II page 127). The chief editor of this book, R. Hovannisian, in Volume II, page 232, purposefully states (Vol. II, page 232) that even after the Armenian massacres of 1909, Armenian freedom fighters continued to "collaborate" with the Turkish government and Armenian leaders called the people to enlist into the Turkish Army and fight with "valorous deeds" against the Greeks, Bulgarians and Serbs during the Balkan Wars. In line with unending unscientific gross mistakes, the book states (Volume II, page 432) that the first Armenian book was printed in 1660, in Holland, when in FACT it was published by Hakob Meghapart in 1512, in Venice.

As we noted above, these kinds of outrageous mistakes and falsifications in The Armenian People: From Ancient to Modern Times are countless. Yet, the chief editor continues to insist that the critics of this unscientific textbook are "violating the freedom of academic expression".

    2. In this textbook, the Armenian people are presented as newcomers and "colonists" in their own homeland who have overran the indigenous "Urartian" population (Vol. I, pages 23-26). In fact, you can find these kinds of "theories" only in the publications of Turkish "historians". In fact, world renowned scholars from various disciplines including linguistics, archaeology, anthropology, molecular biology and genetics have proven that Armenian Highland is the cradle of the Indo-European speaking peoples and that the Armenian people are native to their homeland. Why is this fundamental scientific proof on the origins of the Armenian people completely LEFT OUT of the above noted textbook?!

Dear fellow Armenian! Take action! Sign the petition against falsification of Armenian history! Go to: www.gopetition.com/online/24480.html

Please forward this email to all concerned Armenians who care about the preservation of Armenian identity and the ongoing assimilation, which is nothing short of White Genocide.

APSU calls upon all Armenians to boycott False Armenological conference in LA University

        25.03.2009 16:38 GMT+04:00

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ The Armenian Progressive Students Union demands that the grossly falsified textbook The Armenian People from Ancient to Modern Times is removed from academic circulation.

From March 26-28, 2009, Richard Hovannisian has organized an “Armenological conference” which will include more than 40 speakers from many countries, including several from Turkey. There will be only one speaker from Armenia. This is simply Armenian Studies conference without Armenia, which is the center of Armenology. Imagine, Armenologists from Armenia will not be present during this conference. The only one speaker from Armenia will present a lecture, and that will be about AIDS in Armenia. The title of the speech is HIV/AIDS in Armenia: Migration as a Socio-Economic and Cultural Component of Women’s Risk Settings. First of all, this lecture is not within the scope of Armenology. And secondly, in Armenia HIV is not a cultural crisis. This is simply distortion of truth.

One of the opening speakers during this conference is the notorious falsifier of Armenian history and culture, Robert Thomson. The conference will also include other falsifiers like Peter Cowe who claims that medieval Armenian poetry is influenced adoption of Seljuk Turk, Persian and other Islamic works.

Furthermore, several of the Turkish presenters have entitled their lectures by using common Turkish terminology for Armenian Highland by falsely calling it “Anatolia.” Here is the title of one of the presenters from Turkey - “Ottomanism among the Anatolian Armenians after the 1908 Revolution.” Now this unscientific and anti-Armenian Turkish terminology has entered the field of “Armenian Studies.”
This conference is far from being “Armenological” or even academic.

On December 19, 2001, the faculty board of the Armenian History Department of the Yerevan State University made a public declaration and strongly criticized some of the representatives of the Armenian Studies chairs in the US by rightfully calling them the False Armenological School, APSU reported to PanARMENIAN.Net.

From March 26-28, 2009, the False Armenological School (headed by R. Hovannisian) will hold a conference at UCLA campus. The Armenian Progressive Students Union calls upon all Armenians to show their protest by boycotting this False Armenological conference by abstaining from the event altogether and not participating at the “fundraising.”

They refer to their own lies as propaganda...

Propaganda on genocide against Azerbaijanis must continue until legally assessed: MP
          31 March 2009 [15:56] - Today.Az

Member of the Azerbaijani parliament Ganira Pashayeva said the informational campaign informing the world about the genocide committed by Armenians in 1918 in Guba must continue.

"The Heydar Aliyev Foundation led by First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva has done a great deal to let the world know about the genocide against Azerbaijan. The foundation will continue working until those responsible are held accountable," Pashayeva said during her speech in Guba in front of a monument to the victims of the genocide.

A group of MPs held the event in front of the monument commemorating the victims on March 31.

A mass burial site was discovered during the construction of a stadium in Guba in 2007.

Researchers said the human remains belonged to Azerbaijanis killed during the genocide.

Dozens of human bones were uncovered during the excavations.

Nearly 16,000 civilians were killed and 122 villages, 26 mosques and hundreds of homes were destroyed.

Pashayeva said although 91 years have passed since the genocide, the guilty have not yet been punished as Azerbaijanis were not allowed to study their history during the Soviet Union. Former President Heydar Aliyev issued a decree marking the March 31 events as a genocide.

"Much has been done to inform the world of the Armenian violence. We should not forget this date. An English-language documentary on the genocide will be presented to the Council of Europe and other international organizations," she said.

MP from Guba Vahid Ahmadov said yet another fact proving the genocide was uncovered in April 2007 when a mass burial site was found in a well during the stadium construction.

          The MPs visited the site.

On March 31, Azerbaijan marks the Day of the Azerbaijani Genocide.

In March 1918, Stepan Shaumyan's Dashnak-Bolshevik government seized power and launched a genocide against the Azerbaijani people. In March to April, ethnic Azerbaijanis were slaughtered in Baku, Shamakhi and other regions. During the period, Turkey offered assistance to Azerbaijan and rescued the people from being killed by Armenians.

March 31 commemorates the tragic events that took place in recent Azerbaijani history.

Azerbaijan marks March 31 as genocide under the decree signed by national leader Heydar Aliyev in 1998.

Re: Armenia and the information war

AZERBAIJAN GAINS LITTLE FROM HIRING EXPENSIVE U.S. LOBBYING FIRMS

By Harut Sassounian, Publisher, The California Courier

The Government of Azerbaijan, using its considerable oil income, has been waging a propaganda campaign to win over U.S. politicians and denigrate Armenia and Artsakh (Karabagh).

To accomplish these twin objectives, Azerbaijan has spent millions of dollars over the past 3 years to hire several major lobbying firms, such as: The Livingston Group; JWI; Chlopak, Leonard, Schechter & Associates; and Melwood Communications. In addition, the Consulate General of Azerbaijan in Los Angeles hired Sitrick & Company over a year ago and later replaced it with The Tool Shed Group, founded by Jason Katz, former Director of Public Affairs for the American xxxish Committee.

While Azerbaijan’s Embassy, with the support of its lobbying groups, has been targeting top U.S. officials in Washington, D.C., its Consulate in Los Angeles has been more interested in countering the political influence of California’s large Armenian community. Fortunately, neither the Embassy nor the Consulate has had much success.

Recently, the Embassy of Azerbaijan tried to get members of Congress to go on record condemning Armenia for the alleged killings of hundreds of Azeris in 1992 during the Artsakh war. Despite concerted efforts by its high-powered lobbying firms, Azerbaijan succeeded in convincing just 1 out of 535 members of the House and Senate to do so. Cong. Ed Whitfield (Republican-Kentucky), Co-Chair of the Congressional Caucus on Turkey, was the only member of Congress who made remarks about this highly controversial incident.

Azerbaijan was even less successful in California, despite its heavy investment of time, money, and manpower. Back in 2005, Pres. Ilham Aliyev appointed Elin Suleymanov, a graduate of Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, as Azerbaijan’s first Consul General to Los Angeles. Suleymanov told the Azeri Press Agency that one of his key assignments is to counteract the political clout of California’s Armenian community. He promptly wrote a letter to the owners of a theater in Los Angeles, requesting the cancellation of an Artsakh-related event organized by a local Armenian group. The diplomat’s complaint was summarily dismissed and the event took place as scheduled.

Consul General Sueleymanov’s failure cannot be attributed to his lack of enthusiasm and energy. He has actively tried to promote Azerbaijan’s interests, while missing no opportunity to belittle Armenia and Artsakh. The lobbying firms hired by his government have arranged for him to tour Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Michigan, Oregon, and Wyoming and parts of California to deliver speeches to university students, greet local politicians, and have guest editorials published under his name in obscure newspapers.

Suleymanov even visited the Flathead Indian Reservation in Montana and claimed that there are racial similarities between Azerbaijanis and Native Americans. A student at the University of Montana quoted Suleymanov as stating that Native Americans actually originated from the region of Azerbaijan and that is why the Consul General "felt a certain kinship for tribal people of the U.S., like brothers or cousins."

A major accomplishment of Azerbaijan’s lobbying firms was arranging the visit of four California legislators to Baku in September 2007. Reciprocally, several members of Azerbaijan’s Parliament and a Minister have visited California more than once in the past three years.

Nevertheless, despite Azerbaijan’s intensive lobbying of California legislators, only 1 out of 120 members of the State Assembly and Senate agreed to send a letter to President Aliyev in February 2009, expressing sympathy for "the victims of Khojali." This letter, signed by Assemblyman Felipe Fuentes, was copied from a draft provided by lobbyist Jason Katz. It was noteworthy that Katz had raised the possibility of sending friendly legislators on junkets to Azerbaijan.

California State Assemblyman Paul Krekorian (Democrat-Glendale) worked to prevent other legislators from signing the Azerbaijani letter by alerting his colleagues about the falsehoods contained in it. The lone letter signed by Assemblyman Fuentes was hailed by Consul General Suleymanov as a major victory for Azerbaijan. The Azeri media disseminated that letter worldwide, misrepresenting it as a condemnation of an alleged "genocide" committed by Armenians!

The government of Azerbaijan and its representatives in the United States do not seem to realize that it is not in their best interest to denigrate and provoke the influential Armenian community in California. It was no mere accident that Suleymanov’s recent appearance at California State University at Northridge was greeted with a student protest.

Should Azerbaijan’s Consul General and his hired guns continue to disseminate falsehoods about Armenia and Artsakh in the Western United States, Armenian-Americans could neutralize their propaganda by establishing a public affairs office for Artsakh in Los Angeles, as a branch of the one now operating in Washington, D.C.

Ara Shirinian, Las Vegas, NV 89135

                PRESS RELEASE

                For Immediate Release ~ 2009-04-03
Contact: Ara Shirinian ~ [email protected]

Nevada Armenians Express Outrage in Light of Governor’s Proclamation of Azerbaijani Remembrance Day

                - ANC of Nevada Urges Governor Gibbons to Retract Proclamation

Las Vegas, NV – The ANC of Nevada has responded to a proclamation issued by Nevada Governor Jim Gibbons which proclaimed March 31 as Azerbaijani Remembrance Day. The proclamation commemorates the deaths of tens of thousands of Azerbaijani civilians due to the Armenian-Azeri conflict and the so called “March Massacres” of 1918 in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The proclamation, the timing of which is highly questionable, has caused great consternation and substantial outrage in the Armenian American community in Nevada and throughout the country. Based on manipulative news coverage in the Azerbaijani and international press, it appears this proclamation has been promoted by interests wishing to oppose the self-determination of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) and further to distract attention from efforts to recognize the Armenian Genocide.

"The Armenian-American community throughout the state of Nevada is shocked that Governor Gibbons was so easily misled and manipulated by foreign interest groups representing the governments of Azerbaijan and Turkey and their high priced lobbyists. We expect our Silver State public officials to do their homework and represent the interests of their constituents here in Nevada," stated ANC Nevada spokesperson Razmik Ablo.

In a letter to the Governor, the ANC of Nevada expressed the community’s outrage and disappointment over the proclamation’s wording which refers to NKR as a part of Azerbaijan’s “territorial integrity” when the US State Department and OSCE Minsk Group have made clear that the right of self-determination for the people of NKR is an equal priority. The letter also states that “this proclamation is currently being offered as human rights activists around the world prepare for the observation of the international day of commemoration of the Armenian Genocide on April 24. As you are also aware, the Turkish government and its foreign agents deny the historical reality of this crime. Unfortunately, scores of news stories emanating from the Azerbaijani press are utilizing your proclamation as a subterfuge for genocide denial by stating that this proclamation supports the idea that Armenians committed genocide against Azerbaijanis at the time.”

The historical record regarding the period in question makes it clear that civil war raged in the area. According to documents in the United States Library of Congress and publications of that era such as the New York Times, pro-Russian communist forces engaged in isolated acts of violence. These acts were not systematic and widespread, such as tactics implemented in the Armenian Genocide, Holocaust and Darfur.

“As committed human rights advocates, we do not minimize the suffering of any people at any time – but instead call attention to the politically motivated nature of the proclamation… …we feel it is necessary to raise awareness of the true intentions of those interested in securing such proclamations from the governor of our state.”

ANC of Nevada advocates for the social, economic, cultural, and political rights of the area’s Armenian American community and promotes increased Armenian American civic participation at the grassroots and public policy levels.

                ###

The full text of the proclamation is below:

                STATE OF NEVADA

WHEREAS, the territorial integrity, state sovereignty and independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan is supported by the United States and its citizens; and

WHEREAS, in March 1918, ethnic and religious tensions grew and the Armenian-Azeri conflict in Baku began; and

WHEREAS, as a result of the conflict, the region suffered thousands of casualties in Baku, Shemakha, Guba, Shusha, including the deaths of tens of thousands of Azerbaijani civilians; and

WHEREAS, every year since 1918, Azerbaijanis and many people around the globe, observe March 31 as a Day of Remembrance, to honor the victims resulting from the fighting that began in March 1918; and

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JIM GIBBONS, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim March 31, 2009 as AZERBAIJANI REMEMBRANCE DAY

Erdogan going to Moscow on Armenia’s request?

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ 1news.az Azeri news agency circulated a report that Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will visit Moscow to discuss opening of border with Armenia.

“The fact is that the Turkish-Armenian agreement includes a provision on liberation 5 Azerbaijani regions. Lachin and Kelbajar issues will be discuss during talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Opening of the Armenian-Turkish border will go parallel to withdrawal of Armenian troops from occupied territories,” the agency quoted a Turkish diplomat as saying.

At that he noted that if talks between Moscow and Yerevan are successful, the border will be opened in May.

“Washington has already approved the scenario, which will be discussed by Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Turkey in Istanbul tomorrow,” the source said.

Masis Mayilyan: Someone in Baku surpassed himself in his fantasies

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ “RA Ministry of Foreign affairs already made an announcement detailing that NKR conflict settlement issue does not determine normalization of Turkish-Armenian ties, and Karabakh will not be discussed in negotiations with Turkey,” Masis Mayilyan NKR Foreign and Security Policy Council Chairman told PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.
“Our neighbors are once again trying to pass the desirable for reality. Humorous approach should be taken on such misinformation. Some commercially talented person in Baku surpassed himself in his fantasies. Without participating in the deal between two parties, Armenia and Turkey, the Azeri tried to get territories, falling under NKR jurisdiction, for Azerbaijan,” Mailyan said commenting on Azeri media-circulated information that Armenian-Turkish border wont be opened until NKR conflict is settled.

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ At the European Armenian Federation's invitation, Professor Rouben Galichian came to introduce his new book `The Invention of History' to representatives of the European Commission, European Armenian Federation for Justice & Democracy reports.

The book gives a progress report on the cartographic modifications and the heritage destruction organized by Azerbaijan in order to deny any anteriority of the Armenian presence in the current territories of Azerbaijan. Professor Galichian is an expert in cartography and has carried out investigations on the destructions or `transformations' of the Armenian heritage by Azerbaijan.

The Most famous of these operations is the one which put an end in 2004 to the centuries-old existence of the site of Julfa where, following the example of the Talibans, the Azeri government destroyed more than 4000 khachkars (cross-stones) typical of Armenian religious art.

The members of the Commission explained that they are aware of these problems and also shared their concern. Thus, the meetings turned around the quarrelsome rhetoric diffused permanently by Baku as well as the hate based educational programme aimed towards the Azeri youth.

The participants also evoked the question of establishing measures of confidence building in this hostile context, the possible resumption of the hostilities by Azerbaijan and the limits imposed by Baku on European officials' freedom of movement in the area.

`We are glad to note a certain knowledge from members of the European Commission about these heritage and historical misappropriations' declared Hilda Tchoboian, the president of the
European Armenian Federation. `The Commission seems to understand that Armenia accepts with difficulty the quarrelsome attitude of its neighbor Azerbaijan which wishes war and which encourages its population with hatred' she continued.

`But Azerbaijan needs Europe more than the opposite. The Union could thus be more assertive with Baku taking into consideration the principles that the EU set up through the European Neighbourhood Policy and the Eastern Partnership' continued Hilda Tchoboian.

`While agreeing not to go into Artsakh because that upsets Baku, the Union ratifies a line of demarcation imposed by Azerbaijan in contradiction with the principles which she intends to defend' concluded the President of the European Armenian Federation.

Re: Armenia and the information war

THE PROPAGANDA MACHINE OF AZERBAIJAN WON’T SLOW DOWN

The field of information warfare against Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh is being actively worked on in Azerbaijan. But today they have also armed themselves with the Internet. From year to year, the number of anti-Armenian sites has been growing in the World Wide Web, whose purpose obviously is spreading disinformation on the Karabakh matters, denial of the Armenian Genocide, distortion of the history of Armenia etc. The use of disinformation has been practiced in the Azerbaijani media since the very beginning of the Artsakh national liberation movement, but the Internet certainly gives considerably more capabilities for spreading false information. First, it’s fast, and therefore lies can be spread immediately, in a few seconds. Sometimes the speed of information is essential. Second, unlike the printed and electronic media, web disinformation remains available for users for a long time. We shouldn’t disregard the German Nazi leader Dr. Goebbels’s favorite method of propaganda, adopted by the neighbors’ press: a man, who says the first word to the world, will always be right and the more insolent and improbable the lie is, the faster they will believe in it. The only thing is to present it in a very serious manner. Using this principle, the Azerbaijani press hopes to change the public opinion in Azerbaijan as well as in Armenia and the rest of the world. It is obvious that the disinformation policy is taken very seriously in Baku and the press speculates any event somehow related to the region. Throwing false information into the network happens regularly and diversely, from the variations of annoying “Armenian armed forces violated ceasefire in…” to “the international Armenian terror”. Thus, recently, an article by a certain Azer Mamedov named “The Armenian Terror: The End Justifies the Means” appeared in Day.az (by the way, this information-analytic portal periodically pours disinformation into the internet), where the author “brotherly” warns the word, in particular, the “friendly American people”, about the Armenian terrorism. The genre of disinformation has been rooted in the modern Azerbaijani media so deeply that it does not take any special effort from the author to make references to “competent sources” in order to confirm his message. Azer Mamedov asserts that the person who was arrested in Istanbul for preparations of an attempt at Barack Obama’s life was an Armenian. He comes to this conclusion only on the ground that the detainee was a citizen of Syria. Then a stunning statement follows: “There are no official comments on the nationality of the Syrian citizen, who was accused by the Turkish media in preparations of an attempt at the U.S. President’s life. But we all remember very well that at least two well-known Armenian terrorists were natives of Syria.” It is as easy as a pie, and there is no need for Mr. Mamedov to store his mind with unnecessary truthful information. After all, he carried out his mission, giving out absolutely false but highly desired by his fellow nationals information. And the more the message meets the sentiment of masses, the more effective its outcome is. The frauds are revealed as time goes by, but this is not important any longer. The train, as it’s said, has left the station. The Azerbaijani authors are especially zealous in “covering” the Karabakh subjects. There is no obstacle in Azerbaijan for the anti-Armenian rhetoric, all methods are acceptable, and the objectivity of materials is not questioned. Turning the media into a unique working conveyor, the authors, in chase of quantity, no longer make much of quality of their product. It’s exactly a product. Their “creations” cannot be called articles, as they are absolutely devoid of any logic and factual basis. In short, in Azerbaijan, a serious large-scale and long-term information war has been conducted against Armenia and NK, and it’s been done with obvious state support. Thus, recently, more precisely on April 3, by the order of Ilham Aliyev the Foundation of Governmental Support of Media was created under the president of the country. The Cabinet of Ministers was instructed, within a month, to allocate a facility for the Foundation and decide issues concerning its material and technical support, as well as to provide for appropriate means when drawing up annual national budget proposals for the purpose of governmental support of media. The Press Council has recently prepared the list of the candidates for the membership in the Observation Council of the Foundation. The list included the heads of the leading mass media of Azerbaijan. Let’s refrain from comments and only note that the list included only the heads of prompt suppliers of completely false news materials on Armenia and Karabakh: the information-analytic portal Day.az, the Azerbaijani news agency APA, the newspapers “Ayna”, “Zerkalo”, “525”, “Turan” etc. In other words, disinformation is an important part of the state policy of Azerbaijan. False propaganda is unambiguously cranked out as a stream in Azerbaijan, but it gives quite opposite effect, as in pursuit of imaginary propaganda dividends Azerbaijan practically bares the true essence of its “peaceful” policy, finally undermining confidence towards itself. As for the Armenian media, our press, we admit, has taken a very passive position in this matter. We only rarely give refutations to one or another Azerbaijani disinformation, holding opinion that we are right and that a lie differs from the truth just by not being so. We should not console ourselves with the nonsenses of our neighbors, but think how to stop the torrent of lies, which eventually may cover the truth with themselves.
