Good article Joseph. Do you have a link?

AFAIK our single MiG-25 is retired and no longer flying.

Most of Azerbaijan's MiG-25s are probably not flying either. Same goes for their MiG-21s and Su-17s.

Armenian community has a fear, expert

        Uzeir Jafarov
The Armenian political and military leadership sometimes makes specific statements to distract attention of their community.

This statement was made by military expert Uzeir Jafarov commenting on the statement by Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan that the armed forces of this country are ready to resist any attempt of military aggression.

According to Jafarov, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan sometimes voice abnormal statements.

"They often voice abnormal statements. For example, they said that Armenia is the strongest and the most developed country in the South Caucasus. It is intended for the inner audience. And the fact that Seyran Ohanyan makes such statements too often shows that the Armenian community fears that Azerbaijan may start hostilities. Meanwhile, the Armenian authorities fear that if Azerbaijan starts hostilities, it will cease their reign".

i find it hilarious that they threaten us, we respond, they respond, we stay silent so they keep responding claiming we are the ones who are saying these things for internal purposes only.

I wouldn't mind cutting the fingers off of the people who type this bs and the tongues of those who dictate it to them.
For the first time in more than 600 years, Armenia is free and independent, and we are therefore obligated
to place our national interests ahead of our personal gains or aspirations.

Enker Zoravar, do you plan on writing more analysis pieces on the Armenian military, any time soon?

"The autumn 2009 call-up was fulfilled by 100%".

Armenia has never had any problems with conscription, Seyran Shakhsouvaryan, Armenian Defense Minister's Spokesman, told when commenting on statement by Eldar Sabiroghlu, Head of the Azerbaijani Press Service, saying that Armenia has allegedly faced problems with conscription.

The autumn 2009 call-up was fulfilled by 100%, he said. Maybe Sabiroghlu has faced some problems that make him think of the Armenian army even during holidays, S. Shakhsouvaryan said.

                Armenian Family ‘Flees’ To Azerbaijan

An Armenian man fled to Azerbaijan with his wife and three small children on Sunday in unclear circumstances, the Defense Ministry in Yerevan said the next day.

It also reported the arrest of an Azerbaijani civilian who allegedly crossed into Armenia late last month.

A ministry statement said the 51-year-old Armenian, identified as Yeghishe Gevorgian, drove his family to Azerbaijan’s Nakhichevan exclave through a heavily militarized border checkpoint located about 50 southeast of the Armenian capital.

The statement said Armenian soldiers guarding the Yeraskh crossing, which has been closed to traffic ever since the start of the conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, did not fire on Gevorgian’s old van because it carried the children aged between 3 and 7. It suggested no reasons for the extraordinary escape, saying only that Gevorgian has been repeatedly imprisoned for robbery, car theft and other crimes in the past.

“Relevant international humanitarian organizations have been informed about the incident,” added the statement. “A criminal case has been opened, and a criminal investigation is being conducted to ascertain details of the incident.”

Authorities in Azerbaijan did not confirm the information as of Monday evening. An Azerbaijani government agency dealing with prisoners of war, hostages and missing persons told the Trend news agency that it is investigating the credibility of the Armenian report.

The agency did not comment on a separate statement by the Armenian Defense Ministry saying that a 46-year-old resident of Azerbaijani border village was arrested while trying to enter Armenia’s northern Tavush region on December 28. A ministry spokesman told RFE/RL on Monday that the man, identified as Eldar Tagiyev, is still in Armenian custody.

The official, Seyran Shahsuvarian, could not say whether Tagiyev crossed the mountainous frontier intentionally or by accident, referring all inquiries to Armenia’s National Security Service (NSS). The latter could not be immediately reached for comment.

An Armenian man fled to Azerbaijan with his wife and three small children on Sunday in unclear circumstances, the Defense Ministry in Yerevan said the next day.
