Solemn event of handing in valuable gifts to a group of the Defense Army’s commanders and servicemen

On 27 December Artsakh Republic President Bako Sahakyan participated in a solemn event of handing in valuable gifts to commanders of the Defense Army's military divisions and units and the staff of the fourth defensive area.
In his speech the President noted that our army is the pride of the world spread Armenians because it protects not only the borders of Artsakh, but also the dignified future of the Armenian people.
President Sahakyan underlined that raising fighting capacity of Defense Army, its technical modernization would remain among the key priorities of our state-building process.
Bako Sahakyan congratulated the servicemen on the coming New Year and Christmas holidays, wished them safe service, strength and energy, robust health and all the best.
Primate of the Artsakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan, NKR defense minister Movses Hakobyan, chairman of the Control Chamber of the Republic of Armenia Ishkhan Zakaryan and other officials partook in the event.

China to provide military aid to Armenia

China will provide Armenia with military aid worth CNY5 million (USD825,000) a year under an agreement signed by the two countries on 26 December.

The Armenian Ministry of Defence (MoD) said in a statement that the funding was agreed during meetings in Beijing between Chinese defence minister Chang Wanquan and his visiting counterpart, Seyran Ohanyan.

Neither the terms nor the time scale of the military aid were revealed but, in line with China's flexible approach to military exports, the funds will almost certainly be used to support additional Armenian purchases of Chinese materiel.

The Armenian MoD added that the two sides also pledged to enhance collaboration in areas related to military medicine, education, and training, as well as military-technical co-operation.

Azerbaijani soldier dies as Armenian sniper violates ceasefire

Azerbaijani soldier Sarkhan Gasimov, was killed by Armenian sniper while executing military task.

Baku. Shahriyar Alizade-APA. Armenian Armed Forces violated ceasefire near Chayli village of Tartar region in the contact line of troops.

18-year-old soldier of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan Sarkhan Gasimov Vagif, drafted from January 5, 2013 from Aghstafa region, was killed as a result of ceasefire violation by Armenian troops, APA reports quoting the press service of the Defense Ministry.

The funeral ceremony for the martyr will be held on December 28. High ranking officers from the Defense Ministry will attend the funeral.
