Afghan man detained on Armenia-Turkey border

YEREVAN. – Border department of Russia's Federal Security Service in Armenia has clarified the rumors about the arrest of an offender on the Armenian-Turkish border.
The statement released by the department said two locals noticed an unknown person moving toward the border near Artashat.
As members of a voluntary national guard protecting the border, the villagers made steps to arrest the offender and informed border guards who arrived at the site several minutes later.
The inspection of the area revealed that the arrested person has crossed the Aras River by swimming. A black bag with personal belongings of the detainee was found on the bank.
The offender is Farid Emami Satara, a national of Afghanistan born in 1988. According to him, he intended to illegally cross the border from Iran to Turkey to meet with a family who lives in the city of Van.
The detainee was handed over to the officers of Armenia's National Security Service.

Armenia government to give money to build defensive wall on Azerbaijan border

YEREVAN. – The Government of Armenia has provided funds for the construction of a defensive wall in the border village of Chinari of the Tavush Region.
Deputy Prime Minister and Territorial Administration Minister Armen Gevorgyan stated the aforesaid at Thursday’s Cabinet meeting.
In his words, the wall will be built in the most dangerous parts of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, and it will make movement in the village become safer.
In addition, the village school will be renovated. Furthermore, a drainage canal will be built in Aygedzor village of the same region.
Also, several administrative units in the Gegharkunik Region are planned to be renovated.
About $360,000 will be allocated for these programs.

Demonstrating good will and commitment to the provisions of the Geneva Convention, the NKR authorities handed over the 15-year-old resident of Azerbaijan, Javid Samir oghlu Muza-Farzade, to Azerbaijan with the support of the Stepanakert Office of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
The transfer took place near the Bash Karvend village at the line of contact between the Nagorno Karabakh Republic and Azerbaijan, the NKR State Commission of POWs, hostages and missing persons said in a statement.
Javid Samir oghlu Muza-Farzade had crossed the NKR border on September 5, 2014.

YEREVAN. – Armenian First Deputy Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan on Wednesday received a delegation from the Federal Ministry of Defence of Germany.
The delegation is in capital city Yerevan, between Tuesday and Wednesday, to participate in the Armenian-German bilateral military cooperation talks.
The parties gave a high assessment to this cooperation and conditionally divided it into three areas: assistance to Armenia’s defense reforms; military education; and joint participation in the international operations to ensure stability in Afghanistan.
In addition, an agreement was reached to maintain the dynamics for the development of cooperation, and in order to increase the level of interoperability.
