Restricting water access is a big no no. Don't get me wrong it's not a bad idea but it will be bad PR.

Thank you for pointing that out. Eddo, suggesting violating basic human rights..isn't really gonna help

One thing I am hoping for, is a possible CSTO response to this. It was afterall an exercise involving Armenia, technically. This is a defining moment for CSTO as well, they failed the Kyrgyzstan ethnic clashes and crisis, this is an opportunity for them to show that, this alliance actually does mean something, and that member states will be protected from aggression.

EDIT: I just learned as well the downed heli was from the Armenian airforce, not Artsakhs. This is now, aggression towards Armenia officially, rather than towards NKR self-defense forces

            There you go.
Azeri pictures show how close and easy was for them to shoot it. If camera seems about 5-600 meters, then really the launcher could be only 2-300.

This is a good opportunity to paralise azery air activities for about 10-20 kilometers deep officially and without big international backlash.
We do not have much to loose. There are not any commercial flights to Artsakh anyway because of azery threats and their air force is much larger and therefore will have a bigger issues with impairment of activities.
Actually we should take this and make a big issue by restricting their air activities for as deep as we can cover as security matter. When this (open airspace) becomes part of negotiations, we shell insist that it's either full safety for Artsakh commercial flights included or nothing at all.
If we manage to insert the international rights and their violations for open airspaces into azerbaijan's human rights disputes with europe and minsk group negotiations, we will only put baku in weaker spot and force an open airspace over Artsakh or all closed in territories around it for azerbaijan.

I don't think that this shooting creates any more danger for war than what exists. But it can be made to be a painfull mistake for baku.

While the aforementioned distance is most likely what it is, I do believe those were screenshots from the video.

I agree, we need to use this as an example, maybe set up some conditions with the Azeris to keep aircraft from the area, and this would sanction us shooting down any CASEVAC attempting to transport wounded after a skirmish, perhaps this would even sanction shooting down any aircraft flying near the area. Since they see no problem with it, we shouldn't either.

And in order to prevent us from being damaged in these advancements, we should set up 24/7 field hospitals closer to the LoC.

And considering the fact that Azerbaijan most likely received that launcher from Russia, we could probably negotiate with the Russians for possible compensation. Although, I doubt it lol.

Either way, there has to be a response, Gokorik is correct, this defines Serzh's second term. If he does not respond, the Republican Party will be seen as weak, and might lose out on some support in the next election.

I'd also like to remind everyone, that numbers do not mean anything. I was looking at losses of the war in Ukraine. It turns out, one separatist T72B was able to take out, 6 T64BMs alone. This led Ukrainian troops who witnessed it to believe that it was a Russian T72 and not separatist. In theory, the T64BM, which is manned by Ukraine's elite crews, should have been perfectly able to destroy the T72B. Although, this was not case. Because of a lack of any good crews, proper training, and motivation, Ukraine got its ass handed to them by the Separatists in the most recent months. Although, this situation cannot be fully applied to the possible war between Armenia and Azerbaijan, but Id like to point out, the Kontakt-5 on the T64s and T72BMs have proven to not be as effective as once thought. Remember, Armenia is facing Soviet tanks, and Soviet tanks have great weaknesses when it comes to defense. Good crews always triumph over tanks that are better on paper.

You can learn more about the losses, and effectiveness of Soviet tanks in combat in Ukraine at this cool website: http://lostarmour.info/armour/
Israel is good in using every opportunity 150%, while Arabs are good at loosing any opportunity 150%. That's a big difference.

The commander who ordered them to fly there should be punished.

I don't think we will be taking heavy countermeasures...

The president is already in Karabakh, so i expect him to promise the troops of heavy retaliation . On the other hand i think we should/will probably respond by:

                    1. Cessation of all negatiations with azerbaijan and asking for Karabakh to be directly involved from now on in the peace process
                    2. Officially recognize Karabakh as an independent nation and start working politically for its recognition
                    3. Explain it very clearly to th russians that this complimentary policy they are following cannot continue
                    4. Activate special forces and snipers on the frontline and waste 10s of azeris
