What are their capabilities for shooting down such a flight and what are our defense mechanisms Eddo? The airport itself is roughly 25km from the line of contact I believe. Also, what are the chances they do shoot down a civilian aircraft.

Would this be a situation where they would use a Smerch system, and our defense against it would be the S-300

I think opening the airport would be the most rational response, beyond a military response.

President Serzh Sargsyan observes military exercises in NKR

      13.11.2014

RA President Serzh Sargsyan who has made a working visit to the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic as part of the RA and NKR armed forces’ joint operative-tactical military exercises “Unity-2014,” today, accompanied by NKR President Bako Sahakyan, the two Armenian republics’ defense ministers and some representatives of the supreme command of the armed forces, observed the military exercises conducted by the sub-units of the Defense Army in the central part of the Artsakh Republic and encouraged the most distinguished servicemen.

The RA and NKR Presidents also took part in the opening of a number of new military buildings, familiarized with servicemen’s everyday life and their living conditions. Afterwards, they visited one of the command posts of the Defense Army to listen to the decision made by the commander of the Defense Army.

On the tatar turc & the turc to the west, as they like to say ; one nation two countries.

On the tatar turc & the turc to the west --- their concept of human rights ... Human rights for the turc --- ONLY ---
When have either respected the human rights of (anyone) else???
When in their --- ENTIRE --- history???
The only time the turc speaks of human rights, is when it applies (directly) to them.

As Hrai once said --- those who speak of the rights of the thieves who occupy our lands do not speaks of the rights of those who were murdered, tortured, abducted, and expelled from those lands!!! (I paraphrase).

To be a turc advocate is tandamount to advocating --- FRAUD ---

Amongst the --- several --- things I'm sure our presidents and generals are going to do, I think Eddo is right about starting commercial (civilian) flights to Stepanekert.
I also think, again as Eddo suggested, we divert (all) water -except - what is needed for the general population.
I know (I think) this probably won't happen, but if our governments are looking for volunteers for the first commercial flight, I'm in.
If anybody knows this to be the case, contact me.

R.I.P to our guys, those azeri pigs will pay,at the same time this article they posted,im sure they are b.s ing since we saw the president land.

Armenia already ceased flights over occupied Azerbaijani territories, Defense Ministry says
            [ 13 November 2014 15:54 ]
“Azerbaijan’s entire airspace is under the full control of the Air Forces”

Baku. Rashad Suleymanov – APA. “After the downing of an Armenian helicopter in the territory of Aghdam District yesterday, flights of helicopters and other aircraft on the opposite side of the front line has ceased”, Defense Ministry Spokesperson, Colonel Vagif Dargahli told APA.

Vaqif Dargahli noted that no other flight has been observed over Azerbaijan’s occupied territories after the incident and today.

The ministry spokesperson added that Azerbaijan’s entire airspace is under the full control of the Air Forces.

“Our Air Forces have the most up-to-date equipments to strike those who violate our air borders. According to international documents as well as the International Civil Aviation Organization, all flights over the occupied territories are regarded as violation of our country’s air borders”, he said.

Dargahli said there was an increase in the number of ceasefire violations by the Armenian Armed Forces throughout the day but noted that it wasn’t that intensive.

“Some mass media outlets reported that fierce battles are going on in that direction. This is untrue. The Azerbaijani Army will prevent all provocative attempts of the enemy,” he concluded.

I believe the presidents landing in that airport was a direct response to their no fly zone

Karabakh's airspace "really is closed, but only to the Azerbaijan air forces, and they should have had the courage to finish the sentence," David Babayan, an adviser to the territory's de facto president, told RFE/RL.

We will probably have to wait until the remains of the soldiers have been brought back and their deaths have been confirmed before the Azeris will get whats coming to them.

Unprecedented military exercises in Karabakh, helicopters fly again

                    17:51, 14.11.2014
                    Region: Armenia, Karabakh
                    Theme: Politics

The Unity 2014 operational and tactical joint military exercises of the Armenia and the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR; Artsakh) Armed Forces continued Friday at the Tigranakert military training facility in Artsakh.

Armenia and NKR Presidents Serzh Sargsyan and Bako Sahakyan, and Defense Ministers Seyran Ohanyan and Movses Hakobyan—who is also Commander of the NKR Defense Army—monitored the firing phase of the maneuvers, the Armenian News-NEWS.am reporter informed from the location.

A tank biathlon was held in the morning. Subsequently, the special units showed their skills, and President Sargsyan personally inspected a new outlook.

The military drills then continued at Akn. To note, the Azerbaijani side on Wednesday had shot an Armenian helicopter a mere four kilometers away from this region. But this did not prevent the Armenian side to fly two more helicopters on Friday.

“The objectives of the military exercise are fulfilled. We became convinced that the cooperation was at a high level in all episodes,” Seyran Ohanyan stated, in particular.

The closing ceremony of these military drills will be held on Saturday.
