I bet if any of western special ops showed their soldiers tearing and eating live animals (which, I assure you they too train for, like our's do), it would have been seen as very normal for lot of people here. Actually it would have been welcomed as a modern military necessity.
But, as I sayd, If the official PR in UK is so sucessfull as to keep it's public blind or unaware what really is their military trained for and doing(don't tear rabbits, just protect and "spread democracy around the world". HA HA HA) is their problem. Not our standard.
This PR is for Armenia and is done by Armenians.
From the comments here three reasons or messages that these actions could demonstrate.

    that its “ceremonial”

    that it shows toughness

I would suggest the third one as living off the land which is more meaningful reason.

Brainwashed or not the first two are not convincing for my brain, washed or unwashed.
It might impress little school kids but I do not see anything tough about it.

It could arguably demonstrate ability to live off the land.

Hagop like any country the British are proud of their army. The media through PR maintains that.
This is normal or common within any country.
However recently there have been numerous cases where army personnel have been identified for breaking the Geneva convention and faced the law.
These disclosures have dented the image of the army as well as highlighting the futility of these misadventures.
It is a pity that Tony Blair has not been charged also.
There is a strong voice in the population which is against joining the American adventurism in conquering the world.

When you describe somebody or some people as brainwashed there is substance in that.
The reason is because everybody is brainwash subliminally while living in an environment, even if pronounced that you reject the values and aspirations of that country.

Therefore you are correct in describing somebody brainwashed but you can never claim you are not.

This type of crap you will see in the English heartland, not in London.

Remember London is an English city but 60% of the population are not English.

A good sniper on the prowl must be able to live off the land......you are crawling inch by inch for days, you might come across a snake or a rabbit hole. You can't cook it so you learn to eat them raw.

Came on guys the whole point of the sniper crawling inch by inch is that he or she is not detected.
Can you imagine how undisciplined he must be that at the sight of a snake he makes a jump to grab the snake for lunch.

Also if he is that hungry he will not be able to hold the rifle or keep a steady aim.

Living off the land would be for operations behind enemy lines for unspecified periods where
contact with the locals would be risky.

Also when setting up a base in isolated locations where normal logistics of the army would not be practical.
This may be both behind enemy lines or indeed within own territory.

Another reason could be if the unit is cut off behind enemy lines and decides not to surrender and take its chances.

Armenian recon Marine......night cover, small trap, etc. Examples exist from WWII

Also if he is that hungry he will not be able to hold the rifle or keep a steady aim.
Armenian recon Marine......proof it has happened and it was one shot one kill, four days no food.

that is why the best of the best train like spetnaz/recon Marine.

No surrender, maybe pull back but never surrender.

Are the Armenian marines you speak of stationed here?

Depends on the circumstances, if there is a wall behind you, or a group of people, you might not want to pull back. I say keep walking, on foot after the other, until you reach Yerevan Bay and then enter the Sea of Hayk

Armenia has two kinds of special forces: Recon/Scouts/Intelligence, and (prepare for generic name) Spetsnaz. One wears black berets, one wears blue berets. Correct? There are no paratroopers/VDV, because Armenia doesnt have a proper way to deploy them. There are no marines, for obvious reasons. She then has generic groups like SWAT teams, secret service, etc.

Agreed, this entire conversation is making the demographic on this forum look ridiculous, there are very specific situations where a soldier will revert to eating raw animals, its not a skill that would be used constantly. We need to be able to keep our soldiers fed, so they dont have to. Its good they know how to do it, but we all know Armenia isnt sending troops to jungles of any kind. We know the land, we know how to get around. I doubt any units would get lost, and starve in the mountains. All units around the world practice this, but its not used, almost at all.

The scouts who demined the path to the helicopter, probably didnt ever think about grabbing a bunny, and ripping its throat out. They focused on their task at hand, and to suggest they crawl their way around like worms, is silly. I dont know if you have ever heard of this, but its called crouching, and in a ghillie suit its just as effective.

btw if you use the word operator seriously, you need to break a 10ft pole over your face. (Not directed towards anyone, just a statement)

                    London is ok,

Armenians are relatively small community therefore not very significant.

I wouldn't say they like us or not. At times its frustrating because they do not know the what or the where of Armenians.

The community as well as the Embassy do their best to raise our profile.

Perhaps their latest success was when Prince Charles attended the Armenian church, story below.
