Armenia-Lebanon military cooperation plan is signed
    17:15, 13.03.2015

YEREVAN. – A Lebanese Armed Forces delegation has paid a working visit to Armenia, and the visit has wrapped up on Friday.

During its stay, the delegation held talks with Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan and several other senior officials of the defense sector, and also visited several Armenian MOD subdivisions, military education institutions, and military industry enterprises.

At the talks, the parties discussed matters with respect to the military sector, military industry, and peacekeeping. In addition, an agreement was reached to set up, in the near future, mutual visits between the defense ministers of the two countries.

At the end of the visit, Armenia MOD official Levon Ayvazian, and the head of the Lebanese Armed Forces delegation, Lebanese-Armenian Brigadier General Manuel Kirejian, signed the 2015 Armenian-Lebanese Bilateral Military Cooperation Plan.

I am just not very impressed by this. I know you guys pointed out some things that you think make sense regarding potential benefits here and i do hope that there will be some. I just have no respect for a military which specializes in being a doormat. Hezbalah did more to protect Lebanon then this farce of a military.

In 2006, the joke was that the Lebanese Army was serving tea to the Israelis while Hezbollah was fighting them. But that was 10 years ago. Many things have changed since & the army has more or less come under the guidance of Hezbollah. That is part of the reason why the US & Saudis are trying to empower it, so it does not become a Hezbollah-influenced organization. Anyway, we digress...

I don't see why Armenia does not send peacekeepers to at least protect the Armenians and churches/schools. Also help with migration to Armenia.........its not our war but we can help.

Where? In Lebanon? They recently sent a few dozen peacekeepers but as part of UNIFIL where they serve in the south, closer to the Israeli border. If you mean Syria, there's really no internationally-mandated peacekeeping force there except in occupied Golan which is far from any Armenian-inhabited area of Syria. The ones in Golan get kidnapped by Al-Qaeda's Syrian branch often too.

Yes, both places.....Armenia should do it in Syria regardless of mandates. In fact any place in the world where Armenian communities are in danger.

I agree. We have interests as a nation where our people live and in Syria the government would welcome such action.

I've heard a few hundred fedyhis wanted to go and help the Syrian government out, but the oligarchs told them not to.
