I guess the development for it is still on going. Rifle seems to have a bit of weight to it:

There is definitely some interest with the rifle. I'm guessing they want a new weapon for swat and special forces.

Russian air forces launch drills in Armenia

The air forces of the Russian military base have launched subdivision maneuvers in Armenia, Gazeta.ru reports, citing the southern military district’s press service.

The servicemen are said to have started field drills at an altitude of over 1,500m from the sea level.

“Maneuvers will be conducted to [train the servicemen on] pushing back air target attacks by the imaginary enemy. The servicemen will be required to solve over 100 tactical tasks without releasing gunshots. They will use active sound obstacles, as well as anti-ballistic missiles,” reads the statement.

Around 300 servicemen are taking part in the trainings.

Armenian soldiers wounded during Azerbaijani infiltration attempt on the mend
        00:37, 02.04.2015

YEREVAN. – The condition of the NKR Defense Army soldiers Edgar Martirosyan and Sargis Gabrielyan wounded during the Azerbaijani infiltration attempt on March 19 is normal, however they can’t be discharged yet, the Head of the Central Clinical Hospital of Armenian Defense Ministry Aram Asaturyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Sargis Gabrielyan, whose arm has been amputated, will be visited by prosthesis specialist. After recovery the return of the soldiers to their service is not excluded.

The health of Gor Darmanyan, who is currently in Stepanakert hospital, shows positive dynamics. “In the coming 3-4 days the question of transporting Gor to Yerevan will be resolved,” said Mr. Asaturyan.

On March 19 at 08:30 Special Forces of the Azerbaijani Army started an attack aimed at the northern direction (Gyulistan) of the NKR Defense Army. Although after 2-hour long military actions the adversary was driven back, several soldiers were wounded and one was dead as a result.

We did Eddo, where were you when Armenia announced it conducted preemptive operations?

What Armenia needs to do is begin to collect men from the various special forces groups. (SF of National Security, Army Special Forces, Recon, etc) and begin to form a new unit dedicated to preemptive operations behind enemy lines and around the front line. (Unless Recon already does this, I would assume they do)

Armenia then needs to begin equipping their soldiers with better logistical equipment on the frontlines. These men are your volunteers, your best troops. Start giving them what they need to fight off night attacks. Start making serious reforms when it comes to infantry standards, because Ive seen Armenian generals, they are all old farts stuck in the Soviet days were soldiers were used as pieces of meat.

Quoted for truth.....small investment large payoff.

When the enemy is running away is the time that they will give the most casualties.

Man they wont shut up about this soldier for another few years, they are like a cat that is given a ball of string

Surrendered Armenian soldier’s father: My son tortured, offended in military unit
                [ 02 April 2015 11:59 ]
Grigoryan’s father has once again rejected claims that his son crossed into Azerbaijan because of family problems

Baku. Agha Jafarli – APA. Artur Grigoryan, the father of Armenian soldier Andranik Grigoryan, who voluntarily surrendered to the Azerbaijani side, has reaffirmed that his son was offended in the military unit where served.

He rejected claims that his son crossed into Azerbaijan because of family problems, APA reports citing armtoday.info.

The father said his son was tortured in the military unit.

“There were arguments within family. Andranik loved a girl, but I told him she was not the right person for us; she is high educated, we are not...We had this problem only, nothing else. In one occasion, Andranik came from the military unit very angry because he was tortured and bullied. Having found himself in an unbearable situation, Andranik abandoned his combat position and left,” he said.

Andranik Grigoryan’s mother Nelli Grigoryan also said family problems couldn’t cause his son's cross into Azerbaijan, expressing hope that her son would return home safely.

Grigoryan said that he surrendered to the Azerbaijani side as he was beaten and harassed in the military unit. His father confirmed it and said his son was regularly offended in the military unit.

Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan accused Andranik Grigoryan’s family for Grigoryan’s crossing into Azerbaijan. The minister's statement caused discontent of Grigoryan’s family and the Armenian community. Just taking into account this discontent, Ohanyan recently told journalists that saying something about the reasons of Grigoryan’s surrendering to the Azerbaijani side is possible only after investigation and said nothing about the family problems.

Serviceman of the Armenian armed forces, Andranik Araratovich Grigoryan, born in Khojavand district in 1991, left the military unit and voluntarily surrendered to the Azerbaijani army on March 22 at about 13:50.

“I do not want to be the next victim of their dirty games. The horrific conditions in Nagorno-Karabakh, indiscipline in military units, lack of ammunition, shortage of food and medicine, conflict between the local Armenians and Armenian Armenians, officers’ bad attitude toward the soldiers and ensigns, disorder have worn me out. There are a lot of people tired of living in such conditions and wanting to cross to Azerbaijan like me,” he said.

I do not think old generals is bad in itself.
For example a British field marshal legally never retires and can be called for his services.

However like you say unfit looking excessively overweight generals project an image of inefficiency and uselessness.

Its also embarrassing in the international field during meetings and photo opportunities, its just bad.

I know generals do not fight but at least they should display some agility.

The sad thing is I have seen many senior officers fairly young, their belly is bigger than a nine month pregnant woman.

Noobody there to citisise them because all the more senior officers are overweight themselves.

Its a bit like corruption through the political ranks.

                  .
                  .
Politics is not about the pursuit of morality nor what's right or wrong
Its about self interest at personal and national level often at odds with the above.
Great politicians pursue the National interest and small politicians personal interests

New production floor of military equipment opens in Armenia

The new production floor of special weapons and military equipment will from today make an integral part of Armenia’s system of military industry that is in a phase of dynamic development. The official opening ceremony of the production floor was held today, the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia reported.

As stated by the Minister of Defense, Seyran Ohanyan, the production floor will provide an opportunity to pay thorough attention to upgrading of special military devices, armor and military equipment of one of the most important and efficient subdivisions of the Armenian Army –the air defense subdivision. In addition, new jobs will be created, thereby contributing to settlement of Armenia’s social-economic problems.

As a symbol of practical success, a small grove of fir trees was planted in the yard of the factory.
