burjuin pointed out that the money is not only for the cops but also "National Security Service, the State Security Service in the structure of the National Security Service, Ministry of Emergency Situations Rescue Service and the penal system." so it makes the sum seem a little more reasonable.

I do agree the cops budget is probably inflated though, when I see their vehicles and weapons... it's like Armenia is America or something.

Just looking at their brand new vehicles, and armored vehicles, and constant new uniforms, it all seems a little ridiculous. Specially considering the average Armenian can't afford to buy a car. I don't think it matters if you arrest someone in a 2009 car, or a 1999 car- especially when there's hardly anyone to arrest. That money could be going to our front lines and buying those guys some of the specialized equipment that they need.

Russian Loan To Finance More Arms Supplies To Armenia

Armenia will purchase soon more Russian-made weapons with a $200 million loan that has been provided to it by the Russian government, it emerged on Friday.

President Serzh Sarkisian said that the disbursement of the “concessional export loan” was formalized at a meeting of a Russian-Armenian intergovernmental commission on bilateral cooperation that took place in Yerevan earlier in the day.

Sarkisian told the Russian co-chair of the commission, Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov, that the funding will enable Armenia’s armed forces to “considerably expand the assortment of modern weaponry in their arsenal.” A statement by his office did not specify what type of new military equipment will be purchased for them.

Sarkisian’s announcement came less than two weeks after Armenia’s top military official in charge of arms procurements flew to Moscow for talks with representatives of Russia’s Defense Ministry and state intermediary agency for arms exports. The Armenian Defense Ministry said the official, Alik Mirzabekian, will discuss with them “supplies of products designed for military use.”

Russia has long been the principal source of weapons delivered to Armenia. A military alliance with Moscow and membership in the Russian-led Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) entitles Yerevan to receiving Russian-made weapons at discounted prices or even free of charge.

I'm afraid with all the loans we getting we will face state bankruptcy when it comes the time to pay them Russians will instead take more state owned companies and facilities in the form of payment like in the past,and why do we ask for loans to purchase military equipment?its great we doing that since we now investing those loans in something more crucial then other stuff,but it kind of looks desperate to do so.someone shed a light on this issue since I'm not much informed,thanks

Այսօր՝ հունիսի 26-ին` ժամը 18:30 սահմաններում, հակառակորդը Նախիջևանի հետ սահմանում, Սյունիքի մարզի Գորհայք բնակավայրի հայկական դիրքերի ուղղությամբ կիրառել է խոշոր տրամաչափի զինատեսակներ և վարել ակտիվ կրակ, ինչի հետևանքով զոհվել է ՀՀ ԶՈւ զինծառայող, շարքային պայմանագրային Արման Մայիսի Եփրեմյանը, ծնված 1987-ին։

Այս մասին ֆեյսբուքյան իր էջում հայտնել է ՀՀ պաշտպանության նախարարի մամուլի քարտուղար Արծրուն Հովհաննիսյանը։

Նրա խոսքերով, հայկական կողմի պատասխան կրակից հակառակորդը ևս կրել է կորուստներ։ Հովհաննիսյանը նշել է նաև, որ այդ հենակետերի հատվածում վերջին մեկ տարում կրակահերթեր առհասարակ չեն եղել։

ՀՀ ՊՆ-ն ցավակցում է զոհված զինծառայողի հարազատներին ու ծառակիցներին և նշում, որ հակառակորդի ոտնձգությունները անպատասխան չեն մնալու։

Հունիսի 26-ին հայ-ադրբեջանական սահմանի նախիջևանյան ուղղությամբ ադրբեջանական սադրանքների ընթացքում վիրավորվել են Հայաստանի զինված ուժերի երեք պայմանագրային զինծառայողներ, որոնց կյանքին վտանգ չի սպառնում։ Այս մասին Ռազմինֆոյին տեղեկացրել է ՀՀ ՊՆ մամուլի ոսնակ Արծրուն Հովհաննիսյանը։

Նախիջևանյան սահմանին ադրբեջանական սադրանքների վերաբերյալ հաղորդագրություն է տարածել նաև ՀՀ պաշտպանության նախարարությունը, որտեղ հայտնում է, որ Ադրբեջանի ԶՈՒ նման գործելակերպը հղի է իրադրության կտրուկ ապակայունացման վտանգով, որի ողջ պատասխանատվությունն ընկնում է Ադրբեջանի ռազմաքաղաքական ղեկավարության վրա:

ՀՀ պաշտպանության նախարարությունը ԵԱՀԿ Մինսկի խմբի համանախագահների, միջազգային հանրության, ուշադրությունն է հրավիրում այն հանգամանքի վրա, որ ադրբեջանական կողմից իրավիճակի սրման ուղղված գործողությունը համընկնում է Բաքվում անցկացվող Եվրոպական խաղերի ավարտի և Ադրբեջանի ԶՈՒ կազմավորման տարեդարձի հետ, ինչը վերահաստատում է այդ պետության ռազմատենչ քաղաքականության շարունակությունը և միջազգային հանրության կողմից բազմիցս առաջարկված ու Հայաստանի կողմից ընդունված՝ շփման գծում իրավիճակը վերահսկելու, վստահության ամրապնդման ու միջադեպերի հետաքննության մեխանիզմներիանհրաժեշտությունը:

Պաշտպանության նախարարությունը միաժամանակ կոչ է անում ադրբեջանական կողմին զերծ մնալ իրավիճակի հետագա սրմանն ուղղված սադրիչ քայլերից և ջանքեր գործադրել Եվրոպական խաղերի ողջ ընթացքում սահմանագծում հաստատված հարաբերական հանգիստ իրավիճակը այսուհետ ևս պահպանելու ուղղությամբ:

Yeah I'm not sure about the logic behind the decision either. It seems very random and unplanned, to randomly take on this loan
There hasn't been any sudden move by Azerbaijan- that we know of - that requires such a drastic move
However, I hope its put to good use, and means war is completely avoided, and I definitely hope there is a plan to pay it back
the debt to GDP level, even with the loan from the EU a few months back, is within a reasonable and manageable range
