If he's talking only about Armenian Army, then 160 + 100 in storage could be true. But the Artsakh Army has additional 400+ tanks. Possibly reaching 500 by now.

Thats what I was thinking as well. I was talking to my uncle about this and according to him, armenia (and artsakh) have never officially stated how many tanks and apcs they have. So it is possible that our tank force is much larger than azeris.

Azerbaijan Holds Army Drill, Risking Escalation With Armenia

Azerbaijan told hospitals to be ready for war and started what it called “intense” military exercises, raising the risk of an escalation in its conflict with Russian ally Armenia over the breakaway region of Nagorno-Karabakh.

All medical institutions and personnel received “specific instructions” from the Azeri Defense Ministry to “take the necessary measures to prepare for possible military action that can take place at any moment,” the ministry in the capital, Baku, said on its website on Thursday. The Defense Ministry said earlier in the day that its armed forces began drills involving tanks, armored infantry carriers and aircraft.

The conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, frozen since a cease-fire 21 years ago, periodically threatens to spark a war on Russia’s southern periphery. Armenians took over the region and surrounding territory from Azerbaijan, which has repeatedly warned it will use force to regain it. Dozens of deaths have been reported this year in clashes on the front line.

An escalation would pose risks to the energy infrastructure around Azerbaijan. The Caspian Sea nation is the third-biggest oil producer in the former Soviet Union, and also provides the only westward route for central Asian crude that bypasses Russia.

The State Department is aware of the Azeri military measures and is watching the situation closely, spokesman John Kirby said in Washington on Thursday.

You are not trolling.....lol all the way against Azerbaijani forces. Imagine the look on their faces while they conduct their exercises out of nowhere two armed Armenian SU-25 pope up paralleling the contact line 1/2 kilometer inside our zone and disappear.
then repeat and repeat. The world is watching closely, if they attack our SU-25s we have every right to remove the danger. We have every right to patrol our airspace and not stop because it will upset the baboons. Why they do excercise so close to the contact line, let them go inland and play with their toys and end up giving casualty while using them.

It seems Vardenis-Martakert is not the only strategic road that is being expanded right now in Artsakh. Another group (not ArmeniaFund) is expanding the road between Berdzor (Lachin) and Ishkhanadzor (Khanliq) in southern Kashatagh. First 10 km from Berdzor to Aghanus already completed. Work will be done by October. Our military is going to gain a lot of extra mobility by 2016.

There was actually talk about constructing a Kapan-Kovsakan highway to put the final road in place connecting Armenia to Southern Karabakh. The route would be shorter and pass through Armenia Proper before entering Karabakh. I'm not sure about the advantages or disadvantages of each route...but the more roads the better I guess...

Why risk it? Let them think were not capable. Let them think how badass they are. When the fighting starts and they realize its not going to go to as they planned, the shock factor is 10 times more effective then seeing and hearing our su-25 fly near the line. Those birds are a strategic asset second only to our scuds and S-300's. Why risk something that important, just to play mind games.

The world is watching? What are you expecting the world to do? Are they going to see a shoot down as justification for large scale Armenian attack. If this war happens, western media will do all it can to make it look like some sort of Russian proxy war making us look like the enemy.
What happened in South Ossetia? Georgia invaded, began shelling Tskhinvali and how is that war portrayed in Western media? A Russian invasion.. Your trust in the "world's" unbiased judgment seems a little over estimated.

If any Armenian Leader think that CSTO will help Armenia in case of war, they are putting our country in a big danger.
Because the CSTO is decoration nothing else, but only Russian version of NATO.

By the way NATO is even more decoration!


But Let's Review the CSTO: Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan,Tajikistan and including our country Armenia.

That's a good idea, southern Artsakh is often neglected and isolated from other projects so military value aside, this can help put more focus to develop those areas.

The more ways we can enter NKR the better since it secures lifeline support from Armenia. We can remember how bad the situation was before we secured Lachin during the war. If Martakert-Vardenis highway is cut and somehow Lachin pass is too, a third one in the south far from Azeri grips would come in handy.
