Iran has been giving them arms.....they are doing all they can to help Assad. Iranians have lost over 1000 soldiers in the conflict.
Now Russia comes in with guns blazing. Iran provides escort with their F-15s for the Russian bombers as much as they can.

Im guessing you meant to say F-14's instead of F-15's and Iran does not operate fighter jets in syria. Russian provides aircover for their bombers with their own aircraft. Where did you read that Iran is providing combat air patrols for Russian bombers. Source?

I stand corrected. Nice to see cooperation on this level. It would be interesting to see Iran join CSTO. Could be risky tho.

I would still argue Russia provides fighter escorts for its heavy bomber most of the time.
