However, have you guys not heard the statement made by Armenian defence minister deputy today. Russia is unlikely to meet their credit obligations to Armenia in short term. You guys are talking about the negative effect of low prices on Azerbaijan all day, and forget that Russia is in no better position when it comes to that. Then you expect that Russia will subdue this and that when they are in a bad economical situation?

Baku. Malahat Najafova – APA. Azerbaijan’s national currency had been outdoing dollar for the past decade, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said Thursday.
President Aliyev made the remarks at “The New Energy Equation” session held as part of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

The head of state noted that it was a bit unnatural.

“1 manat used to be equal to 1.3 dollar. The first devaluation made manat equal to dollar. The second devaluation was somewhat triggered by the drop in value of the national currencies of neighbor countries. Because of this reason, our products fell short of competitiveness. This became yet another burden on our budget. We are trying to resist as hard as we can. Even if we were going to lose a little bit of our national bank reserves, we had to take these actions. For this reason, a number of concerns arose among the population because that had an immediate effect on the prices of imported products. We still continue to be a country dependent on foreign market with regard to certain products. Our people were unprepared to the rising of prices. But this stage is over already. I think economic development is going to be sustainable in Azerbaijan. Our economy used to be one of the world’s fastest-growing economies — 300% revenue over the past decade. This is a big figure. But the cycle is going down now. Nevertheless, I think our current reserves will help manage this situation,” said the president.

There's a bank called Bank of Azerbaijan which went bankrupt a couple of days ago in case he's not aware.
The average salary in Azerdubaistan is $294, some 100 bucks lower than that of Armenia, in case he's not aware.
Manats will hit 2.0 very soon, the reserves of the central bank are already lower than $5B (down from $16B)
You gotta be really really....REALLY smart to burn through $10+ billion of reserves, then devalue your currency.
Maybe the guys who were setting the strategy in the NKR war are governing the central bank now?!
We will continue buying modern weapons from Russia. They're gonna be big and scary.

Ok, now that I've stoped laughing or at least controlled my laughter, I'd like to address the three posts above in the order they appear above ... (1) by Astalavist -- dead accurate , as if anyone needed to point that out (LOL). (2) by Aslanov -- the word "entirely" is grossly misused by you and not appropriate at all. Not even remotely. (3) By Haykakan -- indeed !! Russia not only has "other means of generating income" , (but) other means of sustaining itself --- EVEN --- without any " in - come". Russia is actually able to be *** self sustaining *** even though extremely austere for the general population. Russia has done this before numerous times and still successfully competed with the richest country this world has ever seen, and that while simultaneously competing with Europe.
The Russian benches are extremely deep and only a fool would overlook such depth.
Any credit difficulty Russia may have at this time concerning credit payment owed to Armenia will be met with --- TOTAL --- understanding by Armenia .
Is there any country in the entire world that would compare the economy of Russia to the tatar turc who fraudulently calls themselves "azer" ? Answer ... Oh ya, the ever so bright tatar turc.

Brent crude is a good price tracker for Azeri oil.

The price is nearly same as in 2003.

All one has to do is look in history and the state of the Azeri economy in 2003.
