And if you remember, last year during a csto meeting, president putin said he will bring smerches and iskanders to armenia,so what do you think?
    What's your point?
The news for Su-30sm was out less than a month ago, and the defense minister said we are interested in jets.
Where did you read Putin saying something like that?

      Good news keeps coming

Russia deploys advanced aircraft to Armenia

Russia has sent five additional Mig-29 fighter jets and a multipurpose helicopter to its military base in Armenia, the Defense Ministry reported.

The aircraft have been transported to a military airfield in the Armenian capital of Yerevan and will soon arrive at Erebuni airfield, where planes attached to the 102th military are based, the command for the South-Eastern Military District said on Saturday.

“Soon military engineers will assemble generation 4+ fighter jets and the Mi-8MT helicopter, which will then enter service,” the report said. “The unit’s pilots will start practice flights on the new Mig-29s in mid-March.”

Four of the fighter jets are regular Mig-29s, which were recently overhauled. Another one is an upgraded Mig-29S version, which has double the payload amounting to four tons and several other improvements. The new aircraft strengthen the 18 Mig-29s and 7 Mi-24P helicopter gunships already based at Erebuni.

The build-up comes amid a period of high tension between Russia and Turkey in the wake of the downing of a Russian bomber by the Turkish Air Force on the Syrian border. Erebuni airfield is south of Yerevan and about 20km from the Turkish border.

I think he's frustrated because Saudi cancelled the $3bn planned for the Lebanese army. I know how Armenians in Lebanon think, unfortunately.

My point is recent news regarding the purchases with the loan given by russia excede the amount of money given...if we would assume armenia will buy su-30sm,il-76,iskander,smerch,tos-1A,gaz etc... It would probably cost a lot more than 200 million, i guess some weapons were already acquired by armenia long ago(igla s,smerch, konkurs m,gaz tigr) and the loan will probably fund tos-1A,su-30sm,and probably iskander m

I am from Beirut as well.
I moved to Yerevan in September 2014 for good. I have zero regrets. It was an amazing decision.

                    HAHAHAHA

Russia avoids risks by not giving serious arms to Armenia

                    Baku, Azerbaijan, Feb. 20

                    By Elmira Tariverdiyeva – Trend:

Despite numerous speculations over Russia’s heavy weapons supply to Armenia as part of a recently signed $200-million loan, the expectations didn’t come true.

Russia didn’t take risks and decided not to supply heavy weapons to Armenia despite the deteriorating situation in the region after its conflict with Turkey.

Back in July 2015, before the loan deal was signed, various reports suggested that Russia decided to supply the Iskander-M tactical ballistic missiles to Armenia.

Armenian media even recently reported that Moscow and Yerevan discussed a possible supply of three IL-76 military transport planes, as well as the newly designed Su-30SM multi-purpose fighters and simulators for these fighters to Armenia.

Armenia, which has no modern aircraft, was so overwhelmed that even Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan rushed to confirm the reports.

However, to avoid any further speculation, a list of weapons was released Feb. 18 by the Russian Legal Information Agency. To Armenia’s great dismay, neither Iskander-M, nor SU-30SM fighters are included to the list.

The list begins with the Smerch multiple rocket launchers, but that didn’t impress anyone. For instance, Azerbaijan has 12 of that weapon.

There is also the TOS-1A thermobaric rocket launcher in the list, but that is nothing new for the region.

In short, it seems that apart from a large number of KAMAZ trucks, the Armenian army will get nothing paying back the loan, which will be very difficult for Armenia’s dying economy.

Reasons not to trust azeri media:
1-everything they say eventually turns out to be false
2-they can't figure out from where armenia got british and french sniper rifles
3-armenia got its s-300 batteries for 30 mln(each battery) while azerbaijan purchased each battery for around 150 mln,so do the azeri media actually think we're gonna spend all that money on trucks and tos-1a and smerch? Well, they should think again
                      4-the authors are azeris(inbred turks)
5-armenia's economy is improving(even if the improvement is not very fast) on the other hand, azerbaijan's economy is dying
6-them saying they're not impressed by the smerch and the tos-1a is like a scientist saying the earth is flat, because deep down inside, the azeris know the large amount of destruction armenia can cause them with these 2 toys
