What type of tanks are the azeris using? T90s or T72s?

I don't think they would have risked losing their T-90's in a smallish attack like this one... No way to know for sure.

Hetq chief editor Edik Baghdasaryan, now in Artsakh and in contact with the Artsakh Defense Army, reports that Azerbaijani Colonel General Zakir Hasanov is personally taking charge of the operations carried out by Azerbaijan’s 1st Military Corps.

“It is in this southern region that the Artsakh Defense Army has destroyed two tanks and a helicopter. Judging by the clothes worn by the dead Azerbaijani soldiers in the field, one can infer that they were members of a special unit trained in Turkey,” Baghdasaryan reports.

Armenia's Ministry of Defense officially refuted reports about the capture of a number of settlements in Nagorno-Karabakh by Azerbaijani Armed Forces.


The officials labelled the data spread by Azerbaijani media about the seizure of some settlements in Nagorno-Karabakh and large losses by the Armenian side as misinformation.

"The information disseminated by different Azerbaijani media saying that the Azerbaijani armed forces captured some regions of Nagorno-Karabakh and that the Armenian side lost its weapons, dozens items of military equipment and registered hundreds of human victims is false and does not correspond to reality," a statement released by the Press Secretary of Armenian Defense Ministry Artsrun Ovhannisyan said.

The Defense Ministry also advised citizens to follow the official information by the Armenian side.

On April 2, the frozen conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia escalated, with armed clashes resuming and both sides accusing each other of violating the ceasefire that has been in place since 1994.

Nagorno-Karabakh is a disputed region in the South Caucasus, which is formally part of Azerbaijan, but largely populated by Armenians. The territory acts as a self-administrating province, but is not recognized as a country by the international community.

Nagorno-Karabakh is located on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border and has been a subject to several violent clashes between both countries.

The photos we have so far are corpses that were abandoned by Azeris. Those killed elsewhere or evacuated can't be confirmed. Azeris will have significant losses.

After Azerbaijan launched a massive attack on all fronts of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic late Friday and early Saturday, hundreds are volunteering to fight on the forntlines.

NKR Prime Minister Araik Harutyunyan met with volunteers today. The PM briefed them on the situation at the frontline and assured that “the NKR Defense Army keeps full control of the military situation and has inflicted heavy losses on the Azerbaijani army.”

“I’m glad to see so many people volunteering to fight. All of us will go to protect the borders of the Motherland if necessary. At this point I urge you to refrain from panic, keeping high the fighting spirit of the society,” the Prime Minister said.

WASHINGTON—The United States on Saturday condemned ceasefire violations along Nagorno-Karabakh line of contact, but again employed what has become a usual false parity and failed to hold Azerbaijan accountable for initiating the massive attack on Karabakh that has resulted in the deaths of 18 soldiers and innocent civilians.

“The United States condemns in the strongest terms the large-scale ceasefire violations along the Nagorno-Karabakh Line of Contact, which have resulted in a number of reported casualties, including civilians. We extend our condolences to all affected families. We urge the sides to show restraint, avoid further escalation, and strictly adhere to the ceasefire. The unstable situation on the ground demonstrates why the sides must enter into an immediate negotiation under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs on a comprehensive settlement of the conflict,” said Secretary of State John Kerry in a statement issued by the State Department Saturday.

“We reiterate that there is no military solution to the conflict. As a co-chair country, the United States is firmly committed to working with the sides to reach a lasting and negotiated peace,” added Kerry in the statement.

The Armenian National Committee of America Executive Director was quick to respond to Kerry’s announcement saying: “The ANCA is sharply disappointed in Secretary Kerry’s false parity in the face of open Azerbaijani aggression.”

“The Obama Administration recklessly set the stage for this escalation by so warmly welcoming President Ilham Aliyev to Washington. By failing to confront either his growing regional aggression or, for that matter, his worsening domestic repression, President Obama effectively gave Aliyev the green light to continue his march toward war. Aliyev got the message and – at the cost of dozens of lives – acted on it within hours of leaving Washington,” added Hamparian.

“President Obama must clearly and unequivocally condemn Azerbaijan’s aggression, immediately secure the implementation of the Royce-Engel peace proposals, and support the inalienable right to self-determination of the independent Republic of Nagorno Karabakh,” said Hamparian.
