We're the winners here, and we should put the terms that benefits us. There should be no talk of returning land.
If Armenia does this, then not just me, but many armenians will be disappointed in it.
If you understood what I said it is not BS.

You fight and win a war.
There has to be a peace process where final demarcation lines are decided.
Until then we will have what we have now, no war no peace.

That is what they are trying to do now, unsuccessfully I might add up to now.

I agree I do not want anything to be given back.
For that we need good diplomacy and powerful Great Power friends.

When I was referring to Armenian History I had Khrimian Hayrig's words.
Politics is not about the pursuit of morality nor what's right or wrong
Its about self interest at personal and national level often at odds with the above.
Great politicians pursue the National interest and small politicians personal interests

Unless we had decimated the Azerbaijani army furthermore to the point where they would not be able to fight, forcing them to capitulate. The way the negotiations are handled right now does not make it seem like we won the war but we fought to a stalemate and/or were about to lose to Azerbaijan. We, perhaps by not our own choice, have approached the negotiations process from the wrong way since day one when we did not make NKR a party in the negotiations and by not defining strictly to all parties what NKR is. All parties still think NKR = NKAO and that the liberated territories are up for grabs.

I am sure there were reasons why things had to stop where they did.
It would have been a good strategy to blockade Azerbaijan in retaliation for it's blockade of Armenia.
That would have been additional territory involved but the refugee numbers might have raised eyebrows internationally.
We mustn't forget Russia's role in all this as well.

I think there is quite a bit of brinkmanship is going on between the sides.

Azerbaijan's position is not to give up any territory.
They will reject any proposal which implies independence for any part of current Karabagh territory.
So Armenia can play on that trying to appear cooperative etc.

Both sides are just too far for any agreement to be acceptable to both sides.

Eventually what it will come down to, is what Russia says and wants. I have little doubts about it. They like the current state of things and just want endless pointless talks to drag time, till the matter gets passed under the rug and forgotten.
I also don't think there's any chance of real agreement between Armenia and Azeris.
It kind of reminds me of the Israeli-Palestinian debacle.

Azerbaijani defense ministry vs. UN Secretary General

            September 27, 2010 | 14:16
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon’s call to withdraw snipers from the line of contact of Armenian and Azerbaijani armed forces caused verbal diarrhea of Eldar Sabiroglu, spokesman for the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry. The official instructed by the authorities to state an actual refusal of Azerbaijan to Sec. General, not having any clear arguments, confined himself in the habitual accusations against the Armenian side.

Branding withdrawal of snipers as a “trick” of Armenians, Sabiroglu evaded the question on Ban Ki-moon’s direct call and spoke of political aspect of the conflict settlement. As usual, all this was accompanied by a cynical attempt to shift the blame on the Armenian side, in particular for the recent escalation in the line of contact and frequent Azerbaijani acts of sabotage. “Let’s see whether by withdrawing the snipers the aggressor will give up its unfair claims, or release the Azerbaijani territories. This is the major problem. Suppose that this proposal is realized and snipers are withdrawn from the contact line. Does it mean that the shots from other weapons will not be heard? Within the past one month the Armenian servicemen have fired on the opposite positions of the contact line by machine and submachine guns, grenade throwers. These weapons were even used against the civilians. So, first of all Armenia must give up its aggressive policy and fulfill the resolutions and decisions of the UN and other international organizations,” APA news agency quotes Sabiroglu.
