Food for thought: With all these events going on in NKR, Armenia should start thinking about introducing a visa regime with Turkey.

It's so hard though to conceive of this happening in Armenia. The only thing we have going for us in this country is safety/stability. Let's hope its a random crazy person instead of the start of a pattern. the problem is, even the once in a decade crazy person in armenia directs their action towards the ruling elite. Hard to imagine, even the most unstable, most evil intentioned person doing this to random people. That's why i fear the worst

what do you mean? what's the standard now? how do Turks enter Armenia right now?

Another issue is the Iranian Azeri's who compose almost all Iranian tourists in Armenia. Most don't have strong sympathies toward Azerbaijan, but clearly as we discussed here before, a significant number do

          UPDATE from someone in Yerevan

"The government is not trying to accuse anybody until they get some facts... But the bus driver has been arrested"

idk about the validity of this, so just treat it as a rumor for now

As far as I know, it's the same procedure for Turkish and Lebanese passport holders (like myself). Visa upon arrival at the airport.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves with this ISIS stuff. Wait for statement from Armenian police first. Even though it looks like explosives, the explosion could still be accidental. Someone carrying highly flammable/explosive material that accidentally ignited for example. Even a big batch of bad fireworks can do such damage.

If it's terrorist attack, why choose the least crowded time of the day (just past midnight) when you can maximize casualties any other time? The casualty rate being so low, why not a bigger bomb that could have killed all the more people? Etc.

Regular gunpowder used in hunting cartridges could do that. You can find it in any hunting shop.

nice level headed analysis. all good points. That might have been the very last, or at least one of the very last buses/mashutkas given the time of the day and route.

also the location. Even outside kentron, there are dozens of streets I can think of for maximum damage before halabyan

I don't believe it is ISIS, but I do see a potential threat with Iran as there are many Azeris who live in Iran and would legally be capable of coming to Armenia.
