However if we apply the principles of neutrality which he advocates to the Russian behaviour a contradictory picture emerges.

Just to remind Russia has said they will supply weapons to both sides but they will decide what weapons and when supplied ..... we are still waiting.

Unfortunately the interviewer failed to challenge him on that crucial point.

Text book or not, he approaches the situation with logic rather than patriotic feelings, or biased views. You are right about Russia deciding what kind of weapons they should supply, and when they should supply them. But again, Russia makes those decisions based on its own self-interests (as they should). The point is that Armenians should somehow figure out what we can do as a nation - politically, economically, and socially - that will increase our importance to Russia, without sacrificing our own self-interests and independence.

      Should they?

The whole point of his effort was point out that a mediator should not have a self-interest.

      I go along with that.

      .
Politics is not about the pursuit of morality nor what's right or wrong
Its about self interest at personal and national level often at odds with the above.
Great politicians pursue the National interest and small politicians personal interests

Don't go off on him just yet. Initially I thought this was BS as well, but I just verified from a very reliable source that indeed there is a troop buildup in Nakhichevan. This was also announced by some official Armenian government sources. I'm trying to get the source and I will share it here once I receive it.

Heh well then, I'm sorry AK105

No but seriously, those two websites are not even close to being official. Armenia's news sphere on the Internet is flooded with these type of sensationalist websites. Not that a troop buildup would necessarily even means anything like an invasion, it's usually exercises.

Yes and no. They should look out for their self interests. But you are right, as a mediator they should remain neutral. However, they are not remaining neutral and are arming both sides. Since they are blatantly doing this and will continue to do so regardless of what we think, our only option is to play along and try to tilt the odds in our favor where their relationship with Armenia becomes more valuable than that of Azerbaijan. I completely get what you're saying though.

Artsrun Hovhannisyan says there's no buildup in that article.

I'm guessing the official source is "գյուղապետ" Radik Oghikyan?

I know these websites aren't official. When I said it was announced by government sources I was just telling you what I was told.

If they do something stupid from Nakhichevan, it will be an opportunity for us to invade it and start using the Iran-Armenia railway.

the nakhichevan topic has been beaten to death several times. Nobody is going to invade anybody. A few skirmishes maybe along the border to divert and confuse from other military operations in other regions, but there wont be any serious war.

They're stupid, but not that stupid. Actually you never know with these idiots. I hope they try something. Nakhichevan would be ours. I don't think they will though.
