I wish! I checked it on Google Earth, looks like there are around 500 homes surrounded by many small villages. As long we keep them crying it will be good.

It will take a little more time but all front line Azeri towns and settlements will be hit; Terter will be leveled soon- the Azeris are trying to do the same to Armenian towns such as Mardakert, Talish, Mataghis. If those Azeri towns are rendered unlivable, it will create another security barrier and a further humanitarian problem for the Azeris to deal with- it will sap their morale and hurt them economically as well. Right now NKR artillery is going after Azeri artillery batteries that are often situated very close to their own civilian's homes, farms, etc. The Azeris are putting their own people in harms way.

NKR forces were able to do this during the first war successfully.

I thought we all knew that our boys were hitting Terter really hard? Why are you guys surprised? The only reason civilian settlements were hit was because these idiots position their weapons within these civilian populated area and then use them to attack us.

How long until the ineptitude of Aliyev retriggers the inter warring between the Azeris? One thing the 4 day war in Artsakh has shown is that war has made us more united and the Azeris more repressive. A lot of us argue that Azerbaijan is an artificial country and that the people there are really divided. We can see this clearly.

There is a truth to that. Armenia is not the worst country in terms of corruption, etc but it has an corrupt oligarchy the cheats the country, leaders that abet them, a small economy, somewhat volatile political landscape, ineffective opposition etc..... but despite all that, Armenians will fight for each other. They did so not because of their leaders (whether it was LTP or now with Sargysyan) but in spite of them. They do so because Armenians/Armenia/NKR is fighting for its very survival and Armenians will never let themselves be slaughtered again. Armenians are tough, resilient, creative, and I believe here to stay. Armenians have lost too much for centuries and will not give anymore. This is not a dream but reality.

NKR forces were able to do this during the first war successfully.

Our soldiers' lives would have been easier if we progressed during the first war to that man-made irrigation canal that is 16km from our present frontline. That canal is 105 feet wide. It would have been a perfect border separation filled with water.

The division of their people is very visible. I've read a lot of reports by various organizations that say there is a systematic policy of assimilation by the Azeri government. During the collapse of the Soviet Union, people were given a chance to live in their desired country whilst accepting Russian citizenship. Many Lezghins and Avars accepted Russian citizenship but chose to live in Azerbaijan. During the last few years, thousands of these people traveled to Russia and upon returning back to Azerbaijan they were denied entry because they do not have legal status their. As a result, thousand of families are divided. Also Lezghins and Talysh are discouraged from publicly speaking in their native tongue. One of these reports explained how it is common practice in Baku to scold minorities who speak in their langauge and demand that they speak Azerbaijani. Also many Talysh and Lezghins mosques have underwent name changes. The signage on the mosques have been replaced by ones with the Azeri language. There are also property ownership issues and various other problems. A good in length report about this can be found on the UNPO website.

Indeed. This is why the Azeris were forced to sign a ceasefire with the NKR ( and not Armenia) in Bishkek. They saw that coming. Also, but the Spring of 1994, their were acute fuel shortages for the tanks and the Russians were in no rush to ensure further shipment. Also, with the troop strength at the time, it became ever more difficult-. NKR forces took the city of Horadiz but could not keep it. The land to the east becomes a desert plain as well. In hindsight it would have been perfect to move further east to the canal but I think NKR forces were also exhausted.

No, there was always a town and a train station.
The most strategic one was the train station, since it used to be the link between Baku and Nakhitchevan.
It was filled with wagons of goods for Nakhitchevan, when we liberated it.
Liska was in command,.....
He run away, abndoning his men and the positions. We lost 20 Km, and hundreds of men.
