Karabakh reports heavy shelling from Azeri side all along the line of contact

    21:48, 13 May 2016
    Siranush Ghazanchyan

The Azerbaijani side started heavy shelling of the NKR Defense Army
positions all along the line of contact from 17:00 today, the NKR
    Defense Ministry reports.

More intensive firing was reported in the northeastern (Martakert) and
northern (Talish) directions of the line of contact. The rival fired
116 shells from 82 mm mortars.

“The Azerbaijani side rushed to lay the blame for destabilizing the
situation at the line of contact on the Karabakh side, but this does
not correspond to reality,” the Ministry said.

The front divisions of the NKR Defense mostly remain committed to the
agreement on ceasefire and resort to response actions only in case of
extreme necessity targeting the firing ranges of the rival.

I expect it will be a violent next few days- since "peace talks" are supposedly going to occur soon. Aliyev likes to ratchet things up before such events as well all know.

Do you have a source confirming these drones are made in russia?

The drone is Made in Russia, I confirmed it myself before military analysts and websites. It took me some half an hour to find what it is. Some in the EU call it "Drone-x" as it was used and shot down in Ukraine, one was shot down in Turkey near the Syrian border, and another one in Syria. Some refer to it as an updated version of Russian Orlan-10.
They can be distinguished by the shape of the tail, the 5 dots near the tail, and the openings like gills.

Good catch that's definitely an Orlan-10, albeit another version than the typical one everyone is used to. If it is an Azeri drone, they either got it from Russia in that package deal or Turkey could be making them now since they already captured an Orlan-10 via Syria. They could have sent it to Azerbaijan across the Turkey-Nakhichevan border.

As a side note, what's curious is that there were Russian aviation drills happening yesterday and Russia does operate Orlan-10s in Armenia so there's even a possibility we shot down a Russian drone by accident. By now we should know the Orlan-10 inside and out since they're operated on Armenian soil and it will help shoot them down if indeed Azerbaijan possesses them.

A few weeks ago, we reported capturing a brand new Azeri Ural truck. Don't know if video was ever posted but here it is:

I can imagine that it probably will be a very hectic weekend with a lot of intensive fighting, building up to the meeting between Serj and the Sultan.

If I'm understanding this correctly, it's interesting that we were holding the eastward, downward slope of a hill overlooking their village for that long. Seems like a very vulnerable position (proven out by the fact that we lost it in a grunt rush)

We know as a FACT that the Azeris will ramp up the artillery and sniping chaos heading into this meeting. So either we keep every soldier head down to avoid sniping, or we go on the offensive. They will blame it on us whether we are offense or not, so let's just cut them off this time around.
