Vedomosti: Russia shipped four Iskander missile systems to Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - Two managers of the Russian military-industrial complex Rosoboronexport confirmed the supply of Iskander complexes to the Armenian Army, Vedomosti reports.
Four missile launchers (with two missile on each) were reportedly shipped to Armenia.
The managers added that Rosoboronexport has nothing to do with the deal: these weapons were purchased on the basis of agreements about arms shipments in the CSTO, bypassing the Russian state intermediarys, they said.
Pictures of Iskander systems passing through the Republic Square in central Yerevan ahead of the Independence Day parade surfaced online, proving that Armenia had indeed acquired the systems.
Armenia thus became the first foreign state to have the missile system.

Expert: In case of real threat, Yerevan can use Iskander missile systems at its sole discretion


As Yerevan demonstrates the Russian-made Iskander missile systems during the rehearsal of its military parade dedicated to the Independence Day, the country’s media are flooded with this news. It is not surprising, considering that Armenia has actually become the first country to receive Iskander short-range ballistic missile systems.
Experts have different views when it comes to Armenia’s opportunities to use these missiles. Some experts say Iskander systems will become a restraining factor for Azerbaijan in the Karabakh conflict, while others say, “these missiles will not be used against Azerbaijan.”
Military expert Alexander Perenjiyev agrees with the assertion, though with some reservation. The expert does not link the supply of Iskander systems to the threat coming from Azerbaijan.

“Yerevan is Russia’s ally in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), and we are building a common system of security that includes various components. The supply of Iskanders should be considered in this context,” Perenjiyev told EADaily.
In his words, Russia cannot supply Iskander missiles to Azerbaijan for various reasons, including because Baku is not a CSTO member. “Azerbaijan is just a partner of Russia, not an ally,” he said.

At the same time, the expert admits that the supply of Iskander systems should be considered also in the context of the tense situation in the Karabakh conflict zone, the threat of repetition of the April war, and the militarist statements by Azerbaijan’s Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov saying, they are ready “to attack Stepanakert at any moment.”
“In this sense, I think, if there is real threat to the security of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, Yerevan can use Iskander missile systems at its own discretion. The existence of Iskander systems is an essential factor. It is no secret that Russia supplies arms to Azerbaijan too to keep the military balance. However, Russia supplies arms to its ally Armenia nearly without compensation, while Baku pays for it. Such an interesting policy Russia wages in the region,” Perenjiyev said for conclusion.

YEREVAN. – Acting Defense Minister of Armenia Seyran Ohanyan on Tuesday received Adjutant General of the US State of Kansas, Kansas National Guard Military Commander, Major General Lee Tafanelli; and Deputy Commanding General of the United States (US) Army Europe, Major General John Gronski.

The parties highly appreciated the level of cooperation between the Armenian armed forces and the Kansas National Guard and US Army in Europe.

They stressed that the high-level mutual visits, and the US Armed Forces’ expert groups that are currently in Armenia yet again attest to the active and effective cooperation and mutual trust.

A high-ranking delegation from the US Armed Forces will participate in Wednesday’s celebrations marking the 25th anniversary of the independence of Armenia.

One thing is abvious to even a child. You won't find any Dugins in serje's government. In order to have someone in charge that can take us in opposition of Russian Dugins and be our national political philosophy Doctor, we need to replace the government. Iskanders or not.
We have to have government that tries everything in bringing Armenian/Russian relationship from servant/muster relationship to equal partners platform. This will make that relationship more meaningful and strong.
But that leadership has to have only national ideas in focus. Not self fullfilment and money grab.

While I agree with the last part of your statement I would like to remind you and anyone else reading that Armenia and Russia are no where near to being "equal partners". We have never been equal and we are not going to be equal for the foreseeable future. This expectation of "equality" is based on absolutely nothingness yet it somehow serves as a basic expectation for many on this forum. All I can say is we need to be realistic in our expectations and goals. People like Vrej1915 claim we are as important to Russia as she is to us. This is absolute garbage based on nothingness. The one thing I have learned very well from life is the importance of seeing reality for what it is and basing your decisions on it. When you depart from reality you put yourself at a disadvantage which can easily be exploited by your enemies. Basing our actions on facts is extremely important!

Was anyone else having log in problems? I couldnt log in since July or August. Anyways im sooooo excited for the parade and best of all, the Iskanders. Im hoping we see s400 too
