Good point but there is one question why in god xxxx is there fences on the side of the tank to keep away those pesky Mexicans? or why is the frontal lobe of the tank looks like it had Armour plates

Not quite. Those "fences" are designed to detonate a munition that explodes on impact of an object before it manages to actually touch the tank. Think about sticking your hand out to block a ball, but the ball continues and hits your head. The damage will probably be far less than if the ball came straight at your head. Not the best example.

They both are for deflecting small RPG rounds. The front is heavy rubber mats to direct the round downwards. The sides are for outside detonations, instead of the actual armor. Will they work? Eh maybe in Afghanistan ... Primitive, for small anti tank rounds.

Something like this (more solid) 5 feel away will work best for small RPG rounds.

Those fenced grids on sides are for generating early detonation of incoming projectiles with shaped charges. The shaped charge works like a funnel dispensing super hot metal. It has a narrow tubed nose that also has the detonator. The nose widens to a chamber which is lined with copper. Behind copper lies shaped explosive charge. As the nose hits steel armor, the charge is detonated behind the copper diaphragm and melting it pushes to the nose. This all happens in milliseconds. The molten metal then goes thru the crampling nose and hits and melts tru the armor sometimes as thick as 30 santimeters. It penetrates thru and sprinkles inside with melted metal along with hot gases. This kills the crew and detonates ordinance inside.
However for this molten metal to penetrate, projectile nose has to contact the armor to be able to create extreme pressures. In case it is made to detonate before contacting the armor, all the gasses escape all around and hot metal just slams on the armor like a bulb of mud without damaging it.
Besides reactive armor plates, which is acting like a counter force explosion and spreads the molten gas and metal jet, the grid barrier workes as another protection(though unsightly and mostly home made).
It won't be effective on hard nosed (like depleted uranium or chrome pinned) projectiles. But in today's combat 90% of shots taken on tanks are shaped charges.
Those house fences attached to tanks have proven themselfs in Ukraine or Syria.

This is very professional and easy to do.
I have always wandered, why out MOD does not install this kind of protection on our older tanks and troop carriers. After all each will cost only as much as a house fence. Not 100k++ like upgrading the armor. It is very effective.

A while ago I wrote about Armenias Howitzers and we currently have about 28 2KS Akatsiyas but are out gunned by Azerbaijan which have 18 of them . The Russians have recently paraded the new 2S35 Koalitsiya-SV . Maximum distnce is 70 km with a maximum rate of fire at 20 rounds per minute . Now this is really a deadly Howitzer. The derived chassis at the moment well at the Victory Parade was T-90 but will eventually be the T14 Armata . If thats the case shouldn't we be trying to make a deal for those T-90 Variants. No one will be getting the T14 for a few years and the Russians will probably will sell some of the T90 variants of the 2S35 . Anyways its an idea, our recent build up of fire power would absolutely be topped off by such a purchase. The question is if the Smerch and Iskander were in our Arsenal for the last 3 years , what exactly did we purchase with the 200 Mil Loan .
Another thing was the TOS-1A . Are they in our Arsenal ?

Dealing with our scenario, chances are our tanks will never be at close RPG range. The only scenario will be in taking back territory if captured by the enemy on the first pace. It will be nice to have, like many other things. Our priority has been defensive, since we do not need to advance anytime soon. Investing into explosive reactive armor is the way to go with advances long-rang missiles like the one Armnuke posted of the Metis-M. That is one kick vor system that grilled many Markava tanks. Was a major humiliation for pisrael.
