Hrant Melik Shahnazaryan: second Karabakh war inevitable
    March 1, 2011 - 12:14 AMT 08:14 GMT
PanARMENIAN.Net - The second Karabakh war is inevitable, according to an Armenian political analyst.

“The only way to prevent hostilities is natural and strong borders, like the rivers Kura and Arax,” Hrant Melik Shahnazaryan told journalists on March 1.

Stressing the impossibility of any territorial concessions, he said that “condemnation and recognition of Azerbaijan as an aggressor will be a straitjacket for this country.”
Kura/Araks river would be ideal borders. I'd think a swift blitzkrieg can achieve this, because of the flat terrain., but taking the north sector will be difficult.

Let's just assume that this is a done deal. Its time for Armenia to counter by purchasing additional helicopters, or better yet additional anti-aircraft to counter the Azeri purchase.

Nagorno-Karabakh war to damage mostly Russia, Georgian expert says
                March 02, 2011 | 03:04

The war in Nagorno-Karabakh will damage mostly Russia, Georgian political scientist Soso Tsintsadze said.

According to him, “although the tension in the region is growing, large-scale hostilities in Karabakh are unlikely in the near future,” Georgian Pirveli agency reports.

The expert believes that the Karabakh war will be fraught with consequences for other countries. “It is obvious that Turkey will dance to Azerbaijan’s pipe, as it is its strategic partner. The only partner for Armenia is Russia, but I am confident that Georgia will let Russia into its territory to provide Armenia with weapons,” Tsintsadze said.

This guy doesn't know what he's talking about. Does anyone really think georgia would willingly let Russia use its territory to supply Armenia with arms even during a war? Anyway, there are already a lot of military equipment in the 102nd base in Gyumri which Russia could transfer to the Armenian side in case of war.
For the first time in more than 600 years, Armenia is free and independent, and we are therefore obligated
to place our national interests ahead of our personal gains or aspirations.

Russia must supplies S-300 to Armenia, expert says

                    March 02, 2011 | 15:47

The prevention of a conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh requires balancing the sides` military potential, Igor Korotchenko, a member of the Public Council, Russian Ministry of Defense, Editor-in-Chief of the National Defense magazine, said in an interview with Golos Rossii (Voice of Russia) radio.

"My strong belief is that, in response to the contract for the supply of S-300 systems to Azerbaijan, we must supply identical systems to Armenia either free of charge or under a leasing program. And they must be under Armenian military control," Korotchenko said.

Armenian News-NEWS.am reminds readers that many Armenian political analysts and opposition political figures expressed their concern over the possibility of Azerbaijan purchasing two batteries of S-300 missile complexes.

During his visit to Yerevan last August, Russian FM Dmitry Lavrov stated that the S-300 complex has become a symbol of alarm. As soon as a country is reported to be supplied with S-300, panicky statements on destabilization are made. Such statements were made on Azerbaijan, Iran and other states, the Russian FM said. "But let us remember what the S-300 complex is. It is a defensive complex designed to defend a territory from missile attacks," Lavrov said.

"Defensive weapons do not destabilize the situation - with the only exception: if anyone uses force, defensive weapons may create problems for that one. I am sure that none of the states in the region in question is going to resume hostilities. That would be a disaster," Lavrov said.
What are they talking about, I thought that the Armenian side was in control of their own S-300? It seems that some people who claim to be an expert don't really know what they are talking about.

Yes, we do have S-300. That being said, it seems that Russia is equally arming us and Azeris. But for some reason when Russians give us weapons, Azeris complain.
