Azerbaijanis got the thing they have struggled for

          By Hrant MELIK-SHAHNAZARYAN

After May 1994, when Heydar Aliyev signed an agreement on ceasefire with Artsakh and Armenian authorities, Azerbaijan started to isolate Armenia from the communicational, economical and political processes of the region.

According to official Baku, Armenian military strength may be neutralized only by economical and political advantage, and the active involvement of the international society in NK-Azerbaijani conflict will also support this. Following to this political course, from 1994 up to 2007-2008 Azerbaijani authorities have completely refused the military way for holding Artsakh. The whole potential of Azerbaijani Republic was used to get and import hydrocarbon resources and to develop the transport and communication possibilities. And here we must note, they managed to achieve some noticeable result, thought not without limitations.

The fact is official Baku tried to assure the Europe it would be able to become the real factor of providing the energetic security for the Old Land. But this propaganda balloon has thorn soon, as Azerbaijani resources aren’t enough for such ambitious promises. Azerbaijani authorities also tried to become a corridor for transferring the energetic resources from Middle Asia to Europe. But this attempt was failed, too.

So, some expensive projects such as Baku-Tbilisi-Jeyhran, Baku-Tbilisi-Erzrum, Baku-Tbilisi-Kars and so on have become just the projects of local meaning.

At the same time, official Baku has no real possibilities to guarantee the security of the pipelines and the railways. But the main failure of the Azerbaijani economic politics was the fact those whole oil and gas pipelines never became the factor for economical isolation of Armenia.

Besides this, Azerbaijani developed communicational possibilities have no influence on the political, economical and military strength of Armenia.

Azerbaijan also failed in presenting Armenia as an aggressor at the international society. Azerbaijani official structures have used all the international squares for anti-Armenian propaganda for already some years. The anti-Armenian books and articles have been published at the capitals of all big countries. But all these are without any results. Azerbaijani authorities managed to capture the attention on their personas only.

One of the most discussed themes in British media for the last week was the ties between Prince Andrew and the leaders of some despotic countries.

And it is quite natural, that the British media paid much attention to the ties between the Prince and Azerbaijani Heydar Aliyev. “Herzog and the despot: “the close friendship” between the Prince Andrew and the cruel dictator, who is accused in excruciations” is constructed in the English Daily Mail. Articles in Guardian and other Britain publications were devoted to this theme as well.

In connection with this friendship, English journalists reminded about some reports of some international law-keeping organizations. So, according to the Britain media, the law-keepers assure, Aliyev’s regime uses threats and excruciations towards the opposition representatives.

“Azerbaijan occupies 134th place among 178 in the list of corrupted countries by the Transparency International, Aliyev made silent BBC programs then”. The Britain newspapers also noted the Amnesty International called the Azerbaijani authorities to stop the tortures against the opposition activities.

It is noticeable the materials on corruption of Azerbaijani authorities are published in the Western media quite often. The Washington Post, American newspaper, has published an article about the properties of Ilham Aliyev’s son, 11 years old Heydar Aliyev in Dubai. According to the publication, Ilham Aliyev has bought nine villas for his son, the whole sum of which is 44 million dollars.

The bitter confession of the US deputy State Secretary W. Berns about Aliyev and Azerbaijan is worthy to be remembered here: “It is a partner, which makes to be shamed”.

The parts from the materials of the Western media which were presented above, proof only one thing- European and US societies have already perceived Aliyevs clan as threat for democracy in the South Caucasus region and the Caspian pool. The critic towards Azerbaijan by the international organizations and media, which is being crueler every year, makes this country to be an outlaw. And this process can’t be stopped any more. They have got exact the thing for which they struggled for.

Vafa Guluzade: Armenian troops would reach Kura River in 1994
            March 21, 2011 - 16:27 AMT 12:27 GMT
PanARMENIAN.Net - Former advisor to Azerbaijani president Heydar Aliyev Vafa Guluzade said that the Armenian troops would have occupied major part of Azerbaijan in 1994, if it were not for the West’s support of Baku.

Guluzade said in an article published by Yeni Musavat paper and placed on Caucasus-Online website that the oil factor was the decisive one in the 1994 agreement on ceasefire in Karabakh. Otherwise, the Armenian troops would have reached Kura River and Kurdamir in the central part of Azerbaijan, what would have jeopardized Azerbaijan’s existence as a state. “Only the interest of the U.S. towards Azerbaijan prevented implementation of these plans,” said Guluzade.

He believes that energy resources and transit opportunities of Azerbaijan have secured the West’s interest towards the country, what has protected the country’s independence.

“Azerbaijan’s independence would have been formal, if it were not for the American interests. Right the oil factor has secured Azerbaijan’s importance for the western states. Oil, gas and transit potential of Azerbaijan increase its role for the West and allow withstanding Russia,” Guluzade said, adding that greater integration with the West would only strengthen Baku’s international positions.

For millennia our people have had the opportunity to heat and to cultivate our Holy Land, but thanks to our Army. Our Army has never been an army invaders: its sole purpose - to kill the war, which tends to suppress the borders of our motherland. It always has been, so it was during the aggression against the Republic of Azerbaijan, Artsakh. Our Army is not only repulsed the invasion of a multimillion enemy, but also made him, beaten and humiliated, to beg for peace. Armenian warrior valor and courage forced the enemy to peace, cherish the thought of destroying the Armenian countries, the destruction of the Armenian people.
But the enemy has once again miscalculated. Because he calculated everything, except one: the incredible courage and the desperate bravery of Armenian men, the genius of the Armenian commander, strength and power of the Armenian lands. After losing 37,000 killed arm Armenian soldiers Askerov, the enemy was forced to tearfully beg for mercy.
Armenian soldiers went to battle with a smile on his face as he was well aware, for what and for whom fighting. Reckless courage Armenian soldiers terrified the enemy, scrap and shred it despicable and cowardly little soul. It always has been! Always will be!
The Armenian government survive and thrive thanks to the Armenian soldiers. The Armenian states play weddings, babies are born, christening held by Armenian soldiers. Today we have a big advantage: behind enemy no more Armenian villages and towns. The enemy is denied the opportunity to slaughter unarmed people. Therefore, whines and howls of powerlessness. He understands: in order to arrange a new genocide, he had to go through you, courageous, and professionally prepared by Armenian soldiers. He understands that we can never do it, because it faces a descendant of Vardan Mamikonian, Mkhitar Sparapet, George Chavusha, Ashot Gulian, Monte Melkonian ...
