we understand how much it costs to have an efficient air force, Belgium a state that is so much richer than Armenia has a couple of working planes. It's better for now to concentrate on anti-air weaponry especially when fighting in Artsakh then to waste money on airplanes.

Armenia will gradually be able to upgrade and enhance its Air Force but it will be a slow process and have to be done little by little due to the size of Armenia's budget. This is not a loser mentality but a stark reality. The purchase, maintenance, spare parts, advanced training required for just a squadron of say MiG 29's or SU-25's is very costly. Not too mention that many aircraft currently in use (most of which came on-line in the 1970's-1980's) will become quite obsolete as an effective tool of warfare as anti-aircraft weapons are gaining increased effectiveness are relatively cheap, available, and easier to use, maintain, upgrade, etc. Armenia can continue to buy surface to air missiles and other anti-aircraft weaponry and create enough of a barrier to prevent an Azeri attack or easily thwart one (this process is well under way)---additionally, purchasing long range surface to surface missiles and long range heavy artillery should also be a focus. Once this is done, Armenia can then focus on air strike capabilities. Defend the front-lines and airspace, counter with long range missiles and artillery, and then launch counterstrikes.

Funny how when it comes the Air force the Budget is a big issue but anything else we are happy as lamps that we get all these weapons at reduced price and even free of charge from Russia.

Not so for additional SU-25s and upgrades this will not be a problem at all and can be achieved with minimum budget.
Aircraft and parts, price 2Mil max (10Mil for Mig-29) each without Russian discount. Parts are widely available and the aircraft is built very well with a high reliability factor as a safe and dependable bird. Armenian pilots are already proficient and fully checked out in SU-25s and can transition easily to more advance version of SU-25s due to their prior training and flight time experience.

The Su-25 is a ground support aircraft (unless you get the Russian attack model), which has little to do with air defense systems of sorties in enemy territory. The aircraft stays within max 20 km of ground forces and may also be under the command of a ground officer pointing targets. In essence the aircraft becomes part of the Army, not Air Force.

It is soldiers best friend from above.

It might not be a bad idea to also have Funds allocated for the creation of indigenous strike UAVs

Two officers of Azerbaijani Armed Forces die in car accident

Baku. Hafiz Heydarov – APA. Two high-ranking officers of Azerbaijani Armed Forces had a car accident, Shamkir region police office told APA that the accident happened on March 27.

Mercedes turned over in Shamkir region. The officers, chief of the military unit headquarters, Major Nasimi Khankishiyev and deputy chief of communications battalion, Major Tahir Mammadov died in the accident.

Criminal case has been launched on the fact, investigation is underway.

Azerbaijan starts using grenade launchers in firing at NKR positions

PanARMENIAN.Net - On March 20-26, Azerbaijan continued intensively violating ceasefire at the Karabakh conflict zone.

According to updated data of the NKR Defense Army, Azerbaijan violated ceasefire for 250 times during the reported period at the line of contact of the NKR and Azerbaijani armed forces, firing 1,800 shots.

Specifically, the foremost troops of the Azerbaijani army intensively fired on March 20, 21 and 25, using various-caliber fire and sniping weapons.

The press service of the NKR Defense Army stresses that, in addition to other types of weapons, the Azerbaijani forces used AGA grenade launchers against the Karabakh positions located in Martuni direction on March 24 and 25.

Despite the enemy's displayed activity, the NKR foremost troops fulfilled their task, securing protection of the frontline.
