Karavachar liberation 18 years ago among NKR Defense Army victories
    April 2, 2011 - 14:25 AMT 09:25 GMT

PanARMENIAN.Net - April 2 marks the 18th anniversary of Karavachar liberation. Operations on liquidation of military bases of Karavachar (Kelbajar) region started on March 27-April 5, as they had posed a serious threat to western borders of NKR. Defensive posts in the regional center of Kelbajar were neutralized on April 2. After gaining the intersection connecting Kelbajar with Gyanja (Gandzak), the Karabakh forces reached Omar pass on April 5.

The liberation of Karavachar was another serious victory of the NKR Defense Army. The region, which hangs over the entire Nagorno Karabakh plateau, has a great military and strategic importance. Almost all rivers of Nagorno Karabakh head in Karavachar region, and the water supply problem was solved with its liberation.

Dadivank monastery, a diamond of the Armenian architecture of Karabakh, is located in Karavachar. The monastery was founded by St. Dadi who was the disciple of Thaddeus the Apostle who spread Christianity in Eastern Armenia.

Currently, the monastery is being reconstructed.

We should milk this news for all its worth but as always we make no noise.
Agree 100%. They should keep this publicized constantly and show the world that you cannot even reason with the Azeris and forcing the Armenians to make unilateral moves for peace is dangerous and absolute madness.

RA Defense Ministry launches program on reservists’ retraining
          April 2, 2011 - 15:48 AMT 10:48 GMT

PanARMENIAN.Net - On April 2-10, Marshal Baghramian training area will host reservists’ training.

Spokesman for the RA Defense Ministry David Karapetyan said that the training is a part of program on improving combat readiness of the Armenian armed forces and is not anyhow related to the threat of resumption of hostilities.

“Reservists make a part of our country’s military potential; their retraining, as well as improvement of the military and mobilization resources will provide our country with the opportunity to take steps adequate to the threats, if changes take place in the atmosphere of safety,” said Karapetyan.

The head of the organizational and mobilization department, Colonel Arakel Martikyan noted for his part that the launched training is a regular event of the armed forces military training.

“The goal is to have military trained reservists who can fall in with their relevant military specialty, if needed,” Martikyan said.

Head of the department of engineer troops, Major General Vostanik Adoyan said that reservists will be trained in mine laying and demining, constructing engineer obstacles, etc.

The stupid thing is they came out claiming: "We dont shoot at civilians, like the Armenians." Even though they threatened to shoot down civilian airplanes they somehow now claim Armenia kills civilians. They claim that supposedly after the 1988 Spitak earthquake when they sent a helicopter with rescue workers to help Armenia shot it down. Where do they come up with this crap.

I know what you mean but those protocols are important......we can't effort to risk loosing our battle hardened experienced Defence Minister, no matter how little the risk.

Yep! Look at what happend to Poland last year.
For the first time in more than 600 years, Armenia is free and independent, and we are therefore obligated
to place our national interests ahead of our personal gains or aspirations.

Funny thing is if anyone is capable of shooting plains down it is Armenia! If they shoot down 1 plan we have reason to shoot everything we can get our hands on. Remember the range of the S300 is a lot longer and goes deep into Azerbaboon lands.
