Azeris tend to be accident prone goons and they aren't the sharpest tools in the box.

Azerbaijan: Azerbaijani soldier has shot dead another young serviceman before killing himself, officials said on Wednesday, the latest deadly shooting tragedy to hit the ex-Soviet state's armed forces.

An investigation has been launched after the 19-year-old junior sergeant killed another 19-year-old serviceman at a military unit in Azerbaijan's remote region of Nakhchivan on Tuesday, the defence ministry said.

The Azerbaijani army has suffered a series of similar incidents in recent years, which rights groups have blamed on a culture of brutality and corruption within the country's armed forces.

In February, a soldier shot dead seven of his fellow servicemen, causing opposition lawmakers to raise concerns about the level of non-combat casualties in the military.

"Suicides and hazing in the Azerbaijani forces are also regularly reported," said a report published by the Brussels-based International Crisis Group think tank earlier this year.

The authorities however have denied that violent hazing of young conscripts is widespread in the Azerbaijani army, which is locked in a tense military stand-off with neighbouring Armenia over the disputed region of Nagorny Karabakh.
