Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

This well organised overlapping [air defense] system will deny Armenia any chance of sorties within Azerbaijan’s territory along the Nagorno Karabagh border. Its air force will cover the gaps for the protection for the rest of the nation if Armenia takes desperate measures to inflict extra losses.
In the near future the Hermes missile system will be available. http://kbptula.ru/eng/multi/hermesa.htm.

Our Su-25 could be modernized to carry the missile. With a range of 15km, at low altitude, that would give them the ability to hide in the canyons near the from lines, dart out to get within range of a tank, launch the missile and dart back into the canyons to avoid the PMU-2 radar and its missiles. A unit on the ground could call in the coordinates and designate the target with a laser. That would allow the Armenian Air Force to engage targets in mass and still have a high survival rate. Hermes will be able to penetrate 1000mm+ of armor.

For the time being Armenia’s limited air arm provides no real threat for any strikes within Azeri territory, the only threat being the R-17 [Scud missiles]
According to this site, http://www.ausairpower.net/APA-Grumble-Gargoyle.html, the PMU-2 is capable of engaging Scuds,
While the Favorit superficially appears like the SA-20A, it has a wide range of incremental improvements internally, and a range of optimizations to improve performance in the Anti-Ballistic Missile role. Almaz, the system integrators, and Fakel, the missile designers, claim to have repeatedly caused Scud target vehicle warheads to detonate during test intercepts at the Kapustin Yar range in 1995.

Armenia’s limited number of ballistic missiles will only strike Azerbaijan with psychological damage as the accuracy (CEP) will be a limiting factor and cannot guarantee the total destruction of the oil fields.
Our Scuds can be armed with warheads carrying sub-munitions. Each sub-munition is capable of a lot of damage and the large spread of all the sub-munitions would make up for our Scud B's Circular Error Probability of 450 meter. That would only apply if a missile was able to make it through the s-300 PMU-2's and for it to make it to its target accurately(The intercepting missile can knock the Scud off of its course with the explosion.)

Overall Armenia’s air defense seems to be robust given the nature of the threat it faces and the systems on hand. Compared to Syria, whose overlapping [surface-to-air missile] coverage relies on legacy S-75 and S-125 batteries, Armenia SAM capability is more sophisticated against [tactical ballistic missiles], cruise missiles and modern fighter aircraft. Compared to Iran, it does not have sizeable gaps to provide aircraft with [electronic countermeasures] packages to move freely. The small size of the nation provides an advantage to the deployed assets. In a true modern context with an unlimited strike package, Armenia’s air defence can be oversaturated. With over 500 modern aircraft in the Turkish air force inventory and the limited scope of the S-300PT against a salvo of modern cruise missiles it will have it shortfalls. Armenia will be forced to be content with the losses it would inflict on the enemy, as only a very strong modern ECM package might just disrupt some of it guidance of missiles. Armenia will still have opportunity to provide losses to the enemy with Russian S-300V1 and Armenian S-300P-series systems.

Modernization should be a must for Armenia as this will inevitably help Armenia provide itself with a modern SAM network not reliant on Russian support. Various modern SAM upgrades will significantly improve its coverage.
We also operate the S-300 PM which is a lot more capable than the S-300 PT, and has a far greater range. I would not be surprised if we also are hiding the possession of the Tunguska air defense systems. These systems can protect S-300 batteries from cruise missiles, laser guided bombs and anti radiation missiles. The Tunguskas can also be updated by the S-300 radars which would increase their situational awareness.

On the topic of a massive Turkish Air Force strike, a large operation could not be hidden for that long. The Russians could detect that from satellites and/or radars. The Turks would have to put a good amount of F-16's on standby to engage Russian aircraft taking off from Black Sea airbases.

Of course, a Turkish air attack on Armenia is pretty hard to imagine. The report does note that eastern Armenia is not well covered by SAM systems, and thus could be vulnerable to Azerbaijani air attack. That, though, would widen the war more than Azerbaijan may want. An attack on Armenia proper could trigger the Collective Security Treaty Organization's collective defense provision, and bring Russia and other CSTO members into the fight. Would Azerbaijan want to take that risk?
Azerbaijan will never risk an attack crossing the borders of The Republic of Armenia. Legally Russia would be allowed to intervene militarily and it will, to some degree, to show its the boss of the Caucasus. (like in 2008 with Georgia) Turkey would be furious at Azerbaijan cause it would legitimize Russian involvement.

He was banned for the following reasons:

            1. He was actually a Turk impostor posing as an Armenians (Turkish IP address)-off to a bad start immediately.
            2. If you read his comments, none made sense or pertained to the topic being discussed. The usually consisted of one or two lines of gibberish.

Apparently Ilham Aliyev has wanted, and still wants American weapons.
