They are getting M-35s, whatever they are ( spec. wise).

how good would they fare against manpads and shilka? any better than our own Mi-24s?
maybe given the fact that they are gonna use it in night time is an advantage, which means we need counter-night mission tactics too.

Exactly. The Mi-35 is a version of the good old Mi-24.
In addition to the upgrades mentioned above by Eddo, the Mi-35 has the rotors of the newer Mi-28 helicopter. The only disadvantage of the Mi-35 over the Mi-24 is the non-retracting landing gear that lowers the maximum speed of the helicopter (think cost-cutting and simplicity) compared to the fully retracting Mi-24's landing gear.

Here are the latest photos of the newly received Mi-35s in Azerbaijan. They are for the Borderguards unit, not the regular Army. Still no explanation for the white color. Maybe it is Mrs Aliyev' favourite color

What a ridiculous color for a combat Heli....its not like they be operating out of a snow cap. If its night ops serveilance then they should have been black. Whats next, pink?
They be crashing them soon anyway so white is good.....easy to spot from the air by rescue choppers.
