Re: Nagorno-Karabagh: Military Balance Between Armenia & Azerbaijan
Levon in comparison is a traitor. Kocharian at least was strong in our security issues, he was a Patriot, not Levon.
I know that Armenia-Iran/Armenia-Turkey border is guarded by Russians. But how does that apply to Naxijevan-Armenia border? Isn't that guarded by our men?
My point is that we should have taken advantage of the fact that their military was pretty much non-existent. Of course there were economic pressures at the time, but the rewards for disabling Azerbaijan even more would be higher in the long run.
I understand the logic behind the ceasefire, for both sides views, but the Azeri military was in a worse situation both morally and militarily. Russia was sending us weapons at that time to close the gap and we should have put out a strategy in punishing Azerbaijan and listing specific strategic goals to do so. For example, disabling their energy interests via sabotage or other means of attack. Liberating Shahumyan fully. Attacking Azeri refugees from Karabakh (as they would be used as propaganda against us). Of course we didn't have the power/logistics to occupy all of Azerbaijan, but given desire to do so, we could have accomplished some very useful things. This could not have been done with Levon the traitor of course.
Not him alone, but he definitely had a big hand in all of it.

In 1994 both forces reached a point were neither could make any move without losing half of its army and maybe even the war. Azerbaijan and its leadership was realising that an other attack against Artsakh would mean the lose of even more men and armaments and Alijev knew that if the war wasn't stopped that there was a chance of a coup against him. The Armenian side knew that it didn't have the logistics or man power to push forward and attack Azerbaijan in its heartlands.
Artsakh and its population had lived in a state of war for more than 6 years and the economical situation of Armenia was worsening with every passing day.

I am so tired that people are looking at everything on such a simplistic way. Do you really think Levon alone had the power to stop the war?
