Exactly, they should release him, or at least give him a preferential treatment compared to an Azeri soldier, and announce that the minorities are not considered an enemy of Armenia, and should not die for the crimes of Azerbaijan.

Yes, and Armenia must one day liberate all Talysh from the Azeri yoke.......if successful that would change everything. I believe they have a small movement inside Azerbaijan.

I think Iran has a better chance of doing that, they're iranic ppl anyway, and are right on the border with iran

also check this out, from wiki:

"Historical repression of identity and the inability to practice their culture and language has led the Talysh to an internalized self repression.[2] This makes it hard to gauge support for any type of Talysh movement.[2] According to Hema Kotecha, many Talysh fear being associated with the separatist Talysh-Mughan Autonomous Republic, with Russia, or with Armenia if they acknowledged or attempted to talk about their beliefs in the public sphere. One instance of current repression was when a school in Lerik wanted to invite a poet from Lenkoran to have a party in his honor and for him to speak to Children; the headmaster was told that he would be dismessed if the event went ahead. The fear of the police is also another factor to this silence, although support for a secular democracy and shared Azerbaijani-Talysh feelings towards Nagorno-Karabakh contribute as well.[2] The Talesh population is declining, in fact it is a language that is on its way to become extinct within 25–35 years as its very often not passed on to Talesh children by their elders. Because the young Talesh people more frequently use Persian or Azerbaijani as a way of communication in their communities."

If the Armenians were to move closer to the Talesh and aid their cause, then Armenia might gain support from the Iranian Talesh. However the Talesh are really too small a group to fracture Azerbaijan without massive extenal support.

Yesterday they were saying that they don't have information about this incident. They need more than a day to know they have captive soldier.

Father of Azerbaijani serviceman captured by Armenians: “My son would never fall prisoner to Armenians willingly”

                    [ 25 Jan 2012 13:31 ]
Lankaran. Aghaddin Babayev – APA. “Mammadbagir hates Armenians and wants the liberation of Azerbaijani lands from Armenian occupation.

My son would never fall prisoner to Armenians willingly”, Talib Akhundov, father of Azerbaijani Army’s junior sergeant Mammadbagir Akhundzadeh, who was captured by Armenians, told APA’s southern bureau.

Akhundov said that his son came to home for furlough on December 7 last year and returned to the military unit after the furlough.

According to him, the family’s elder son Mammadbagir served in the Border Troops till July 2010: “Then he started to serve in military unit in Terter as re-enlistee. The statements that he crossed to the Armenian side willingly are incorrect. If Mammadbagir hadn’t loved his motherland, he wouldn’t have returned to the army after finishing the military service”.

His father also said that command of corps where he serves informed them about his captivity.

The soldier of the Azerbaijani Army Mammadbagir Akhundzadeh Talib, born in 1990, was captured by Armenian troops in the contact line between the armed forces of Armenia and Azerbaijan near the village of Upper Chayli. The Defense Ministry confirmed the fact.
