Great job Yerevanski92! Also, do we officially have the en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steyr_HS_.50 in service or was that just for exhibition? Maybe you can add that if you know its status within the Armenian army.

Thanks guys. The only thing is I need sources to back up these claims because Turks and Azeris constantly monitor these articles and make sure to keep info that may suggest Armenia has advanced weapons out (trust me, its been done numerous times before. for every hole possible they report it) so if you could give me a source i could use as a reference, please do send it.

The border guard paraded with the AK-105 it doesn't mean they're the only ones that use it. And I've seen Armenians using the AKs-74u that aren't police, after 2010 also. And yes we do have KORDS, check the reference.

Հայաստանում տեղակայված ռուսական ռազմական բազայի հետախույզները երկշաբաթյա հավաքներ են անցկացնելու «Փամբակ» լեռնային ուսումնական կենտրոնում։ Այդ մասին հայտնում է Հարավային շրջանի մամլո ծառայությունից։Հաղորդագրությունում ասվում է, որ ռազմական փորձադաշտն իր աշխարհագրական դիրքի շնորհիվ եզակի է։ Հավաքի ժամանակ հետախույզները լեռնասպորտային ուսումնական համալիրում կկատարեն ավելի քան 15 տեսակի վարժություն, իսկ հավաքների ավարտին կբարձրանան 2,5 հազար մետր բարձրություն ունեցող «Ամրոց» սարը։

Ռուսական զինվորականների ուսուցումն անց է կացվելու հատուկ մշակված ծրագրով, որն իր մեջ ներառում է լեռնային պատրաստվածության, հետախուզական հնարքների կատարելագործման, մարտավարության կանոննրի և բարձրադիր լեռներում բարդ պայմաններում ժամանակակից զենքերի օգտագործման դասընթացներ։

Հավաքի ժամանակ հետախույզները կուսումնասիրեն լեռնային արգելքների հաղթահարումը, սարերում կողմնորոշումը, սեփական լեռնային հանդերձանքի կոմպլեկտի օգնությամբ բարձունքների հաղթահարումը, ինչպես նաև դարանակալման, հարձակման, պայմանական հակառակորդի սահմանային դիտակետերի որոնման կատարելագործումը։

Ռուսական 102-րդ ռազմաբազան 1995 թվականից տեղակայված է Գյումրիում, որը ռազմական հսկողություն է իրականացնում ԱՊՀ միացյալ ՀՕՊ համակարգի համաձայն։ Բազան ենթարկվում է ՌԴ Հյուսիսայի Կովկասի ռազմական շրջանի անդրկովկասյան ռուսական ռազմական խմբին։

Բազան զինված է С-300 զենիթային հրթիռներով և МиГ-29 կործանիչներով։ Անձնակազմը հաշվվում է մոտ 5000 մարդ։ Քանի որ ռուսական բազան գտնվում է Հայաստանում, ապա Ռուսաստանը հայկական զինված ուժերի հետ համատեղ պաշտպանում են Հայաստանի արևմտյան սահմանը։

2012 թվականի օգոստոսին Երևանում հայ-ռուսական պայմանագրի երկարացման արձանագրություն են ստորագրել։ Պայմանագիրը երկարացվել է մինչև 49 տարի (հաշվվում է 1995 թվականից)։ Այժմ պայմանագիրն ավտոմատ կերպով կերկարացվի ամեն հինգ տարին մեկ, եթե կողմերց ոչ ոք գրավոր ձևով չառարկի հերթական ժամկետից վեց ամիս առաջ։

Armenian Defense Minister Visits U.S. Amid Growing Ties

Armenia's defense minister Seyran Ohanian has wrapped up a three-day visit to the U.S., as military relations between the U.S. and Armenia quietly strengthen. Ohanian's visit was his first to the U.S. since he became defense minister in 2008, according to Armenian Reporter, which reported that he met with his counterpart Leon Panetta and CIA director David Petraeus, among other officials.

Last month, the two countries agreed to carry out their first-ever joint military exercises in April. And Wikileaked U.S. diplomatic cables show that Ohanian is someone the U.S. likes working with, Armenian Reporter notes:

Although this was Ohanyan's first visit to U.S. since his appointment as defense minister in 2008, Ohanyan is known to have a good rapport with Americans, meeting Petraeus and other senior U.S. officials during visits with Armenian peacekeeping units in Iraq and Afghanistan and to NATO headquarters in Brussels.

"The better we get to know Minister Ohanian, the more we like him as a partner in political-military efforts," U.S. Charge in Armenia Joseph Pennington wrote in a 2009 cable made available by Wikileaks. "He seems a straightforward interlocutor, who is respected in the Armenian government and within the Defense Ministry. His credibility as a soldier is very high, given his long experience commanding NKSDF [Nagorno Karabakh Self Defense Forces] troops."

"We are pleased to find General Ohanian interested and committed on Armenia's NATO-related defense reform efforts and Euro-Atlantic ties," Pennington wrote.

Of course, Russia is still going to be Armenia's main big power patron -- Armenia is going to the site of this year's Collective Security Treaty Organization exercises. And for the U.S. Armenia will remain the lowest priority in the south Caucasus, behind Georgia and Azerbaijan. But Armenia appears to be moving in a somewhat more multivectoral direction. Emil Danielyan wrote in Jamestown last month:

Armenia plans to hold first-ever joint military exercises with the United States just months after agreeing to a more ambitious cooperation framework with NATO. Highlighting its “complementary” foreign and security policy, Yerevan at the same time seems intent on deepening its already close military ties with Russia through a new defense treaty to be negotiated soon. Remarkably, there have been no indications yet that Moscow is annoyed by this increasingly delicate balancing act.

Makes you curious what sort of conversations Yerevan is having with Moscow about all this....
