r-tatoyan_15.08.09Staff Director of the Georgian Constitutional Court, Kartlos Kipiani, has replied to charges made by the “Yerkir Union” that the Georgian authorities are planning to “neutralize jailed Javakhk-Armenian activist Vahagn Chakhalyan, with a set of expletives.
“Yerkir Yevropa”, the French branch of the “Yerkir Union” has disseminated the English version of the response to various Georgian diplomatic and non-governmental organizations as well.
The “Yerkir Union” claims that it received expletives, in English, from the email address of Mr. Kipiani ([email protected])
When “Hetq” asked “Yerkir Union” Program Director Robert Tatoyan about the credibility of the claims regarding Georgian plans to silence Vahagn Chakhalyan, he replied that the sources of information were very credible and that he would reveal the sources if there was any response from the Georgian authorities on the matter.
“The Georgian authorities do not want to recognize the issue of their treatment towards Chakhalyan and to the Armenian community of Javakhk. They would prefer to discredit the issue in the hopes that it will disappear,” Mr. Tatoyan commented.
