Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)
1] What you CAN NOT post.
You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene
You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)
The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!
2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.
This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.
3] Keep the focus.
Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.
4] Behave as you would in a public location.
This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.
5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.
Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.
6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.
Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.
7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.
- PLEASE READ -
Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.
8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)
If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

DUBAI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES -- Even by the standards of a city that celebrates extravagance, it was a spectacular shopping spree: In just two weeks early last year, an 11-year-old boy from Azerbaijan became the owner of nine waterfront mansions.
The total price tag: about $44 million -- or roughly 10,000 years' worth of salary for the average citizen of Azerbaijan. But the preteen who owns a big chunk of some of Dubai's priciest real estate seems to be anything but average.
His name, according to Dubai Land Department records, is Heydar Aliyev, which just happens to be the same name as that of the son of Azerbaijan's president, Ilham Aliyev. The owner's date of birth, listed in property records, is also the same as that of the president's son. *** Dubai's Land Department also has files in the names of Leyla and Arzu Aliyeva. President Aliyev has two daughters with the same names and roughly the same ages. "
* Ilham Aliyev = groomed to be the replacement and brought to power in a phony election - doesn't physically resemble his mother or his father; behaves like a KGB strong man when the Western media isn't looking (or doesn't want to look?); The Western press barely devote any time to stories of corruption regarding Azerbaboon that are well-known in every other country in the region (= very suspicious); I also noticed the CIA World Fact Book makes no reference to certain minority groups in Azerbaboon (= very suspicious because that's one of the CIA's main jobs).
* Aliyev's wife = being groomed for politics and devoted to fostering the cult of the "Dear Leader" (Heydar Aliyev) through a number of official foundations financed with oil money.
* Ilham Aliyev's Brother In-Law (Vasif Talibov) = Governor of 'Naxchivan' with several hundred complaints against him from Human Rights Groups, including slave labor and human trafficking. (See below.)
With Egypt ousting Hosni Mubarek, I'm surprised people haven't pushed this angle more in Azerbaboon also - Aliyev is cut from the same cloth.

HUMAN RIGHTS COMPLAINTS FROM LINK ABOVE:
"Nakhchivan is the most repressive and authoritarian region of Azerbaijan, where the
political scene is characterised by uncertainty,....
Vasif Talibov, who is related by marriage to Azerbaijan’s ruling family, the Aliyevs,
has been the chairman of the local parliament – Ali Majlis (Supreme Assembly) –
and unchallenged leader of Nakhchivan for the past twelve years. More than a
decade of Talibov’s rule has left the society with little hope, while widespread
poverty and a high unemployment rate have had a dramatic negative impact on
living conditions. The authoritarian rule and the destruction of civil society has been
reinforced by strict censorship and grave human rights abuses."Last edited by Persopolis; 02-25-2011, 10:14 PM.

Re: Aliyev: New Levels of Scumbaggery
Good job on these posts - you confirmed my position that Aliyev's wife is a corrupt power-broker and behind-the-scenes propagandist. People should really add to this link so we can really bring into the focus the evil face of the Aliyev-family and their henchmen.

"Azerbaijan: free expression under attack before elections
Ahead of Azerbaijan’s upcoming Parliamentary elections, nine organisations are launching a new report titled “Free Expression under Attack: Azerbaijan’s Deteriorating Media Environment”. The report findings come out of a joint freedom of expression mission to the country in September 2010 and highlight the Azerbaijani government’s failure to comply with its international commitments to promote and protect freedom of expression." http://humanrightshouse.org/Articles/15292.html

Re: Aliyev: New Levels of Scumbaggery
The Aliyev family's long grip on power has provided a measure of stability and robust, energy-fueled economic growth in a country that shares borders with Iran and Russia. But it has also left Azerbaijan riddled with graft and a culture of impunity.
The role played by the Aliyev family at the center of this system figured prominently in the New York trial last year of Frederic A. Bourke Jr., an American millionaire convicted of violating the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act as a result of bribes paid in Azerbaijan. Bourke has appealed his conviction. The case related to an abortive attempt in the 1990s to buy Azerbaijan's state oil company, SOCAR, where Aliyev, now the country's president, was then a senior executive. In courtroom testimony and an affidavit filed with the court, Thomas Farrell, a Virginia businessman involved in the failed scheme, told of large illicit payments that he thought were destined for "the family." Farrell, in his affidavit, related how Heydar Aliyev, the father, "had directed that we wire transfer sums of money into bank accounts held for the benefit of relatives of Heydar Aliyev." Farrell also told that he had been "instructed that money be sent to members of Heydar Aliyev's family for 'shopping sprees.' Typically the amount of money requested was $1 million."

Prince Andrew has developed a 'close friendship' with a billionaire dictator accused of torturing protesters, and lobbied the president of another of the world's 'most corrupt' countries, it has emerged.
During eight visits in five years, the Duke of York has forged strong links with Azerbaijan’s president Ilham Aliyev – whose regime is said to have rigged elections and thrown political opponents in jail. ... The ties between Azerbaijan and Britain are undeniably close, with around 150 UK companies – many of them oil-related – accounting for over 50 per cent of the country’s foreign investment.
