The Gulf Arabs are a pack of babbling, Wahhabist monkeys. That want to install a puppet regimes in the Levant, murder non-Sunnis and cart off the local women.

The real victory would have been to have never lost it in the first place.

Syria neglected it's security and moved far to close to Iran. Hence this plot against Syria by her delightful neighbors and this so-called "revolution". Nevertheless they miscalculated al-Assad's regime support and now these state fear reprisals.

This war is very unfortunate as in many respects Syria is one of the better Arab nations. It's a interesting country Syria and the History of the region is very interesting.

While Hezbollah involvement might of altered the balance in Qusair. The FSA have already lost the political battle. As it's not in the interests of any of the regional major powers to have heart eating, Islamist goons turn Syria into another Somalia. Even if the US, UK, France and Turkey are keen to sell arms to Gulf clients and knock Syria out of Russia/Iran's orb.

Israel/Turkey stand to gain more from a weakened Syria, than actually toppling Al-Assad and Russia's Mediterranean fleet is enough to ward off NATO intervention.

A more realistic outlook might be "a few more victories like this and we've lost". Unless it is going to be the start of a greater and much quicker offensive and be used to encourage its success, there is little to be gained by capturing with great effort a town that has been almost completely destroyed in its capturing. And nothing at all if a lot of solders are going to be tied up there to make sure it is not lost again. The real victory would have been to have never lost it in the first place.

Syrians on both sides are very much past the point of caring about destruction in Syria. The point is not the town itself but what role the town played for the rebels. It is part of a month long offensive to secure the road from the Lebanese border to Homs which is central to Syria. The FSA weapons supply from Lebanon has been cut.

The battle for Qusayr is considered by both sides in the conflict to be critical.

For the government and Hezbollah the capture of Qusair allows for President Assad to link Homs to Damascus. Both to reinforce Homs but also to connect his forces to the Mediterranean coast and to the port of Tartous. For Hezbollah this is about protecting their assets and supporters in Lebanon from rebel attacks.

For the rebels Qusayr is a major supply route for both supplies from Lebanon but also Lebanese Sunni fighters who cross the border to fight alongside the rebels in Syria. In the past rebels have also used this route to cross into Lebanon to avoid government forces and have used Lebanon as a base to trade fire with government soldiers.
