Re: Bashar al-Assad, Syria and the Armenian people
Its kind of sick how Bell and Uncle Tom took my support of unity and made into things i never said nor suggested. I guess Armenian unity scares those who want us dead and gone. In case you have not noticed what is happening in the middle east is not just an Armenian problem. All chrystians are being systematically driven from all parts of the region. I have spent over 30 years in the diaspora and can tell you with certainty most do not give a ccrraappp about Armenia nor their own people. It is all about showing off, how much money we make, who wears what..bs...bs..every April 24 some show up but none care about what is being said at the event - hell i have seen the speaker insult the victims of the genocide and no one said nor did anything. They do not care because they do not feel a part of the Armenian nation-they do not see Armenia as their homeland. They do not even know nor care about the problems the people of Armenia face and to make themselves feel better about it all they will sometimes write a check for something they do not even know for what. I drive an hour to take my kid to Armenian school and i had a mother xxxxx to me about how long it takes her to get there - she drives 15-20 minutes. Everything Armenian is seen as a hassel which soon becomes something not worth doing anymore. Yes there were and are some good diasporans who care and do good things but they are very few in number. What diasporans do care about is their church-to most of them going to church = being Armenian. So why should i go to Armenia-i will go to church instead and compare my xxxxty outfit with the xxxxty outfit of others to see which one of us is more Armenian. Yeh the diaspora is wonderful by always putting politics and personal wants first and throwing money at things they do not know nor care about. Sure not all diasporans are like this but this is so typical it is sickening. It will not end nor change until we breath the same air, eat the same bread, share the same land we call home. The lesson to be learned from the events of the day is that diasporas are not the answer to a nations problems as they themselves are temporary. Even if they manage to fight off assimilation many of them dye anyways. There is only one place an Armenian can be an Armenian and that is in Armenia where he/she can live and feel like an Armenian. Yeh there are many problems in Armenia and they need to be fixed so that people will want to live there. We need to address the problems of Armenia and build a nation we will want to live in. This is our only hope for having a future as a nation and a people. Some diasporans are doing this by building infrastructure and few have started sending their kids there. These are the things the diaspora needs to do-build interconnections not waist your money and resources on things that will not matter.
