- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)

- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

    Lragir.am

      by Սոնա Սուքիասյան
      razminfo

        COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY
IN THE CITY OF NEW YORK
INSTITUTE FOR THE STUDY OF HUMAN RIGHTS

        Research Paper: ISIS-Turkey Links
        By David L. Phillips

        Introduction

Is Turkey collaborating with the Islamic State (ISIS)? Allegations range
from military cooperation and weapons transfers to logistical support,
financial assistance, and the provision of medical services. It is also
alleged that Turkey turned a blind eye to ISIS attacks against Kobani.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu strongly
deny complicity with ISIS. Erdogan visited the Council on Foreign Relations
on September 22, 2014. He criticized "smear campaigns [and] attempts to
distort perception about us." Erdogan decried, "A systematic attack on
Turkey's international reputation, "complaining that "Turkey has been
subject to very unjust and ill-intentioned news items from media
organizations." Erdogan posited: "My request from our friends in the United
States is to make your assessment about Turkey by basing your information
        on objective sources."

Columbia University's Program on Peace-building and Rights assigned a team
of researchers in the United States, Europe, and Turkey to examine Turkish
and international media, assessing the credibility of allegations. This
report draws on a variety of international sources -- The New York Times,
The Washington Post, The Guardian, The Daily Mail, BBC, Sky News, as well
as Turkish sources, CNN Turk, Hurriyet Daily News, Taraf, Cumhuriyet, and
        Radikal among others.

        in
Adana for inspection on January 19, 2014. The trucks were loaded with
weapons in Esenboga Airport in Ankara. The drivers drove the trucks to the
border, where a MIT agent was supposed to take over and drive the trucks to
Syria to deliver materials to ISIS and groups in Syria. This happened many
times. When the trucks were stopped, MIT agents tried to keep the
inspectors from looking inside the crates. The inspectors found rockets,
        arms, and ammunitions.

        <http://www.cumhuriyet.com.tr/haber/turkiye/129529/Fuat_Avni_den_bomba_iddia__Erdogan_in__El_Kaide__t apeleri_var.html>
        that
Fuat Avni, a preeminent Twitter user who reported on the December 17th
corruption probe, that audio tapes confirm that Turkey provided financial
and military aid to terrorist groups associated with Al Qaeda on October
12, 2014. On the tapes, Erdogan pressured the Turkish Armed Forces to go to
war with Syria. Erdogan demanded that Hakan Fidan, the head of Turkey's
National Intelligence Agency (MIT), come up with a justification for
        attacking Syria.

        =80Ē Hakan Fidan told
        <http://youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=c-1GooSDwJ8> Prime
Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, Yasar Guler, a senior defense official, and
Feridun Sinirlioglu, a senior foreign affairs official: "If need be, I'll
send 4 men into Syria. I'll formulate a reason to go to war by shooting 8
rockets into Turkey; I'll have them attack the Tomb of Suleiman Shah."

        =80Ē Documents surfaced
        <http://www.odatv.com/n.php?n=iside-turkiyeden-boyle-yardim-edildi-2709141200>
        on
September 19th, 2014 showing that the Saudi Emir Bender Bin Sultan financed
the transportation of arms to ISIS through Turkey. A flight leaving Germany
dropped off arms in the Etimesgut airport in Turkey, which was then split
into three containers, two of which were given to ISIS and one to Gaza.

Turkey Provided Transport and Logistical Assistance to ISIS Fighters

        =80Ē According to Radikal
        <http://www.radikal.com.tr/politika/mit_isidi_muammaer_gulerin_emriyle_agirladi-1196924>
        on
June 13, 2014, Interior Minister Muammar Guler signed a directive:
"According to our regional gains, we will help al-Nusra militants against
the branch of PKK terrorist organization, the PYD, within our
borders...Hatay is a strategic location for the mujahideen crossing from
within our borders to Syria. Logistical support for Islamist groups will be
increased, and their training, hospital care, and safe passage will mostly
take place in Hatay...MIT and the Religious Affairs Directorate will
coordinate the placement of fighters in public accommodations."

        =80Ē The Daily Mail reported
        <http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2734239/How-seven-radicalised-young-Britons-week-taking-Gateway-Jihad.html>
        on
August 25, 2014 that many foreign militants joined ISIS in Syria and Iraq
after traveling through Turkey, but Turkey did not try to stop them. This
article describes how foreign militants, especially from the UK, go to
Syria and Iraq through the Turkish border. They call the border the
"Gateway to Jihad." Turkish army soldiers either turn a blind eye and let
them pass, or the jihadists pay the border guards as little as $10 to
        facilitate their crossing.

Turkey Provided Training to ISIS Fighters

=80Ē CNN Turk reported on July 29, 2014 that in the heart of Istanbul, places
like Duzce and Adapazari, have become gathering spots for terrorists. There
are religious orders where ISIS militants are trained. Some of these
training videos are posted on the Turkish ISIS propaganda website

À qui Daech vend l'or noir ?

Meet The Man Who Funds ISIS: Bilal Erdogan, The Son Of Turkey's President

Russia's Sergey Lavrov is not one foreign minister known to mince his words. Just earlier today, 24 hours after a Russian plane was brought down by the country whose president three years ago said "a short-term border violation can never be a pretext for an attack", had this to say: "We have serious doubts this was an unintended incident and believe this is a planned provocation" by Turkey.
But even that was tame compared to what Lavrov said to his Turkish counterparty Mevlut Cavusoglu earlier today during a phone call between the two (Lavrov who was supposed to travel to Turkey has since canceled such plans).
As Sputnik transcribes, according to a press release from Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lavrov pointed out that, "by shooting down a Russian plane on a counter-terrorist mission of the Russian Aerospace Force in Syria, and one that did not violate Turkey’s airspace, the Turkish government has in effect sided with ISIS."
It was in this context when Lavrov added that "Turkey’s actions appear premeditated, planned, and undertaken with a specific objective."
More importantly, Lavrov pointed to Turkey’s role in the propping up the terror network through the oil trade. Per the Russian statement:
"The Russian Minister reminded his counterpart about Turkey’s involvement in the ISIS’ illegal trade in oil, which is transported via the area where the Russian plane was shot down, and about the terrorist infrastructure, arms and munitions depots and control centers that are also located there."
Others reaffirmed Lavrov's stance, such as retired French General Dominique Trinquand, who said that "Turkey is either not fighting ISIL at all or very little, and does not interfere with different types of smuggling that takes place on its border, be it oil, phosphate, cotton or people," he said.
The reason we find this line of questioning fascinating is that just last week in the aftermath of the French terror attack but long before the Turkish downing of the Russian jet, we wrote about "The Most Important Question About ISIS That Nobody Is Asking" in which we asked who is the one "breaching every known law of funding terrorism when buying ISIS crude, almost certainly with the tacit approval by various "western alliance" governments, and why is it that these governments have allowed said middleman to continue funding ISIS for as long as it has?"
Precisely one week later, in even more tragic circumstances, suddenly everyone is asking this question.
And while we patiently dig to find who the on and offshore "commodity trading" middleman are, who cart away ISIS oil to European and other international markets in exchange for hundreds of millions of dollars, one name keeps popping up as the primary culprit of regional demand for the Islamic State's "terrorist oil" - that of Turkish president Recep Erdogan's son:Bilal Erdogan.
                His very brief bio:
Necmettin Bilal Erdogan, commonly known as Bilal Erdogan (born 23 April 1980) is the third child of Recep Tayyip Erdo?an, the current President of Turkey.

After graduating from Kartal Imam Hatip High School in 1999, Bilal Erdogan moved to the US for undergraduate education. He also earned a Masters Degree in John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in 2004. After graduation, he served in the World Bank as intern for a while. He returned Turkey in 2006 and started to his business life. Bilal Erdogan is one of the three equal shareholders of "BMZ Group Denizcilik ", a marine transportation corporation.
Here is a recent picture of Bilal, shown in a photo from a Turkish 2014 article, which "asked why his ships are now in Syria":

In the next few days, we will present a full breakdown of Bilal's various business ventures, starting with his BMZ Group which is the name implicated most often in the smuggling of illegal Iraqi and Islamic State through to the western supply chain, but for now here is a brief, if very disturbing snapshot, of both father and son Erdogan by F. William Engdahl, one which should make everyone ask whether the son of Turkey's president (and thus, the father) is the silent mastermind who has been responsible for converting millions of barrels of Syrian Oil into hundreds of millions of dollars of Islamic State revenue.
By F. William Engdahl, posted originally in New Eastern Outlook:
                Erdogan's Dirth Dangerous ISIS Games
More and more details are coming to light revealing that the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, variously known as ISIS, IS or Daesh, is being fed and kept alive by Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Turkish President and by his Turkish intelligence service, including MIT, the Turkish CIA. Turkey, as a result of Erdogan’s pursuit of what some call a Neo-Ottoman Empire fantasies that stretch all the way to China, Syria and Iraq, threatens not only to destroy Turkey but much of the Middle East if he continues on his present path.
In October 2014 US Vice President Joe Biden told a Harvard gathering that Erdogan’s regime was backing ISIS with “hundreds of millions of dollars and thousands of tons of weapons…” Biden later apologized clearly for tactical reasons to get Erdo?an’s permission to use Turkey’s Incirlik Air Base for airstrikes against ISIS in Syria, but the dimensions of Erdogan’s backing for ISIS since revealed is far, far more than Biden hinted.
ISIS militants were trained by US, Israeli and now it emerges, by Turkish special forces at secret bases in Konya Province inside the Turkish border to Syria, over the past three years. Erdo?an’s involvement in ISIS goes much deeper. At a time when Washington, Saudi Arabia and even Qatar appear to have cut off their support for ISIS, they remaining amazingly durable. The reason appears to be the scale of the backing from Erdo?an and his fellow neo-Ottoman Sunni Islam Prime Minister,Ahmet Davuto?lu.
                Nice Family Business
The prime source of money feeding ISIS these days is sale of Iraqi oil from the Mosul region oilfields where they maintain a stronghold. The son of Erdogan it seems is the man who makes the export sales of ISIS-controlled oil possible.
Bilal Erdo?an owns several maritime companies. He has allegedly signed contracts with European operating companies to carry Iraqi stolen oil to different Asian countries. The Turkish government buys Iraqi plundered oil which is being produced from the Iraqi seized oil wells. Bilal Erdogan’s maritime companies own special wharfs in Beirut and Ceyhan ports that are transporting ISIS’ smuggled crude oil in Japan-bound oil tankers.
Gürsel Tekin vice-president of the Turkish Republican Peoples’ Party, CHP, declared in a recent Turkish media interview, “President Erdogan claims that according to international transportation conventions there is no legal infraction concerning Bilal’s illicit activities and his son is doing an ordinary business with the registered Japanese companies, but in fact Bilal Erdo?an is up to his neck in complicity with terrorism, but as long as his father holds office he will be immune from any judicial prosecution.” Tekin adds that Bilal’s maritime company doing the oil trades for ISIS, BMZ Ltd, is “a family business and president Erdogan’s close relatives hold shares in BMZ and they misused public funds and took illicit loans from Turkish banks.”
In addition to son Bilal’s illegal and lucrative oil trading for ISIS, Sümeyye Erdogan, the daughter of the Turkish President apparently runs a secret hospital camp inside Turkey just over the Syrian border where Turkish army trucks daily being in scores of wounded ISIS Jihadists to be patched up and sent back to wage the bloody Jihad in Syria, according to the testimony of a nurse who was recruited to work there until it was discovered she was a member of the Alawite branch of Islam, the same as Syrian President Bashar al-Assad who Erdogan seems hell-bent on toppling.
Turkish citizen Ramazan Bagol, captured this month by Kurdish People’s Defence Units,YPG, as he attempted to join ISIS from Konya province, told his captors that said he was sent to ISIS by the ‘Ismailia Sect,’ a strict Turkish Islam sect reported to be tied to Recep Erdogan. Baol said the sect recruits members and provides logistic support to the radical Islamist organization. He added that the Sect gives jihad training in neighborhoods of Konya and sends those trained here to join ISIS gangs in Syria.
According to French geopolitical analyst, Thierry Meyssan, Recep Erdogan “organised the pillage of Syria, dismantled all the factories in Aleppo, the economic capital, and stole the machine-tools. Similarly, he organised the theft of archeological treasures and set up an international market in Antioch…with the help of General Benoît Puga, Chief of Staff for the Elysée, he organised a false-flag operation intended to provoke the launching of a war by the Atlantic Alliance – the chemical bombing of la Ghoutta in Damascus, in August 2013. “
Meyssan claims that the Syria strategy of Erdo?an was initially secretly developed in coordination with former French Foreign Minister Alain Juppé and Erdogan’s then Foreign Minister Ahmet Davuto?lu, in 2011, after Juppe won a hesitant Erdogan to the idea of supporting the attack on traditional Turkish ally Syria in return for a promise of French support for Turkish membership in the EU. France later backed out, leaving Erdogan to continue the Syrian bloodbath largely on his own using ISIS.
Gen. John R. Allen, an opponent of Obama’s Iran peace strategy, now US diplomatic envoy coordinating the coalition against the Islamic State, exceeded his authorized role after meeting with Erdogan and “promised to create a "no-fly zone" ninety miles wide, over Syrian territory, along the whole border with Turkey, supposedly intended to help Syrian refugees fleeing from their government, but in reality to apply the "Juppé-Wright plan". The Turkish Prime Minister, Ahmet Davutoglu, revealed US support for the project on the TV channel A Haber by launching a bombing raid against the PKK.” Meyssan adds.
There are never winners in war and Erdogan’s war against Syria’s Assad demonstrates that in bold. Turkey and the world deserve better. Ahmet Davutoglu’s famous “Zero Problems With Neighbors” foreign policy has been turned into massive problems with all neighbors due to the foolish ambitions of Erdogan and his gang.

Noose Tightens on Turkey's Sultan of Swing

                    Finian CUNNINGHAM | 29.11.2015 | 00:00

                    Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan ` a self-styled neo-Ottoman
sultan ` was only a few years a darling of Western governments and
media, proclaimed as a moderniser of Turkey, overseeing a bustling
economy and positioning his country as a strategic bridge to Asia.

But Erdogan's involvement in the US-led regime-change project in Syria
is now steadily revealing his family's appreciable criminal
enterprises: from smuggling oil and stolen artefacts, to gun-running
for terrorist networks. The former Sultan of Swing is swinging
alright, but it could be at the end of an incriminating rope whose
noose is becoming ever tighter around his neck.

Russia's air strikes in support of the Syrian government in its nearly
five-year war against foreign-backed mercenary brigades are blowing
the lid on the corruption at the heart of the Turkish ruling AK Party,
and the Erdogan family business in particular.

One factor in why Erdogan ordered the fatal shoot-down of a Russian
Su-24 fighter jet this week was out of revenge for how Russia is
destroying the Turkish ruler's criminal schemes. The destruction of
hundreds of oil tankers and other facilities commandeered by the
jihadist terror network in eastern Syria and western Iraq is hitting
                    Erdogan's lucrative racket.

The smuggling routes ` estimated to earn $1 million per day for the
terror brigades ` are integrated by Erdogan's son, Bilal, whose
licensed shipping companies traffic the illicit goods to global
markets. Russian intelligence has laid bare this smuggling empire, as
presented by President Vladimir Putin at the recent G20 summit held in
Turkey's Antalya. Further incriminating details are expected in coming
                    weeks.

This week, following the downing of the Russian warplane, Erdogan
boldly dismissed the oil connections as «slander».

But as Putin retorted, with a touch of sarcasm, it's hard to imagine
how the Ankara authorities could be unaware of an illicit industry
involving thousands of oil-laden trucks criss-crossing the heavily
                    militarised Turk border.

Among the contraband are believed to be precious artefacts stolen from
Syria's ancient dwellings, such as the cities of Palmyra and Iraq's
Nimrod, according to the Syrian information minister, Omran al-Zoubi.
These artefacts dating from 2,000 years ago are designated as world
heritage valuables by the United Nations. It says something about the
dubious values of Erdogan and his AK Party cronies when world heritage
objects are being looted to finance personal gain and terrorism.

The trade in oil stolen from Syrian and Iraqi state-owned facilities
by the jihadists is only one half of a giant cross-border loop tied up
                    by Turkey.

Convoys of trucks laden with weapons are going back into Syria from
Turkey on an almost daily basis. Those weapons, paid for by proceeds
from the oil smuggling, are then distributed among the plethora of
jihadist terror groups, including the Al Qaeda-linked Al Nusra and
so-called Islamic State (IS, also known as ISIS, ISIL or Daesh). The
arms trade is overseen by Turkey's National Intelligence Organisation
(MIT), headed up by Hakan Fidan, who is closely associated with
                    Erdogan and the AKP leadership.

Fidan was quoted by the state-run Anadolu news agency last month as
offering an apologia for the IS terror group. «ISIS is a reality and
we have to accept that we cannot eradicate a well-organised and
popular establishment such as the Islamic State», said Fidan, who
added: «Therefore I urge my Western colleagues to revise their mindset
about Islamic political currents¦ and thwart Vladimir Putin's plans to
crush Syrian Islamist revolutionaries [terrorists]». The statement
caused such a controversy that the Anadolu news agency later issued a
                    denial of its prior publication.

Despite a heavy media crackdown under Erdogan, sections of the Turkish
media have courageously carried damning reports on the oil-weapons
nexus that is fuelling the war in Syria. This week, the editor of the
Cumhuriyet newspaper, Can Dundar, was arrested on charges of «spying»
and crimes against the state because he published articles with
photographic evidence exposing the massive cross-border weapons
dealing, overseen by Turk I ntelligence. Erdogan has threatened the
editor with a life sentence for daring to reveal «state secrets».

Another Turk newspaper, Today's Zaman, also this week reported on an
unintended slip made by Adana state prosecutor, Ali Dogan, a protégé
of Erdogan. The prosecutor inadvertently revealed in a statement that
up to 2,000 trucks filled with arms and operated by Turk intelligence
have been ferrying firepower to militants in Syria.

It thus makes the claims made by the Syrian minister al-Zoubi that the
downing of the Russian Su-24 this week ` resulting in the death of its
pilot ` was an act of revenge by Erdogan owing to the severe damage
that Russia's military intervention in Syria is inflicting. That
damage includes not only huge financial losses to Erdogan and his
family entourage, but also to the entire war effort for regime change
                    against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

In an interview with Russian media, the Syrian minister said: «All of
the oil was delivered to a company that belongs to the son of Recep
[Tayyip] Erdogan. This is why Turkey became anxious when Russia began
delivering airstrikes against the IS [Islamic State] infrastructure
and destroyed more than 500 trucks with oil already. This really got
on Erdogan and his company's nerves. They're importing not only oil,
but wheat and historic artefacts as well», added al-Zoubi.

If Erdogan thought he could poke the Russian bear in the eye and get
away with it, he is sorely mistaken. Russia has stepped up its bombing
campaign along the Syria-Turkey border, hitting oil trucks heading
north and the reverse-flow of arms trucks heading south. In the Syrian
border town of Azaz, a Russian air strike this week reportedly
destroyed up to 20 vehicles believed to be stocked with weapons. Seven
people were killed in the air raid.

Ankara claims that the convoys crossing the border are carrying
«humanitarian aid» to Turkmen Syrians. Turk Prime Minister Ahmet
Davutoglu has complained that Russian air strikes have been targeting
                    Turkmen «brothers and sisters» ` inferring civilians.

But these are the same Turkmen militia who gained notoriety this week
by brutally murdering the Russian pilot who parachuted from the Su-24
                    downed by Turk F-16s jets.

The Turkmen militia, with names like the 10th Brigade of the Coast,
are fighting hand-in-hand alongside the other jihadist terror groups,
Al Nusra and IS, to topple the government in Damascus. The Turkmen,
who reside in northern Syria but who are ethnically related to Turkish
people, have played an instrumental role in waging Erdogan's covert
                    war of terror in Syria.

Last year, in April 2014, Turkmen militia carried out a massacre in
the northern coastal village of Kessab, in Latakia Province, where 88
Armenian Christians were slaughtered. Thirteen of the victims were
beheaded, according to survivors. That attack also involved brigades
from al Nusra, IS and the so-called Free Syrian Army, the alleged
«moderate secular rebels» much championed by the Western governments
and media. (A follow-up column will be published on that specific
                    massacre in the coming days.)

Significantly, a Turkmen commander recently protested bitterly to the
Erdogan regime over it not suppling his fighters with enough weapons.

Turkmen commander Ã-mer Abdullah of the Sultan Abdülhamit Brigade was
quoted as saying: «We are trying to survive under unbearable brutality
and we need Turkey's help.» He was referring to Russian air strikes,
adding: «Every day our Turkmen brothers are dying. We expect the
[Erdogan] government to support us. Why have they abandoned us? Our
martyrs fall every day. Why are we being left alone? I don't
                    understand».

As Turkey's Today's Zaman points out, the Turkmen's claim of not
receiving sufficient weapons raises the bigger question about the arms
trucks that Turk intelligence, MIT, has been running into Syria. Where
have the machine-guns, artillery and mortars contained in thousands of
cross-border convoys gone to? If the Turkmen brigades are being cut
out of the supply chain then that suggests that Ankara's weapons are
being funnelled instead to the other jihadist groups, such as Al Nusra
                    and IS.

Russia's military intervention in Syria is turning the tide decisively
against the criminal US-led war for regime change, by decimating the
ranks for terror brigades that Washington and its allies have deployed
                    for that objective.

For Turkey's self-styled strongman Erdogan, Russia's intervention is
also hammering home huge personal losses. His egotistical schemes of
resurrecting Turkey as a new Ottoman regional power are being
shattered. The international reputation of the country under his
leadership is sinking into a putrid sewer.

Moreover, his family's criminal involvement in the conflict is also
being exposed. And his responsibility for fuelling a criminal war of
aggression with the loss of over 250,000 lives looms ahead of Erdogan
like a noose. The Sultan of Swing indeed.

Turkey drives hard bargain for stemming refugee flow to Europe
                      DEBKAfile November 29, 2015,

Ankara is demanding a 3 billion euro package for a Turkish commitment to stem the flow of refugees from Syria to the European Union, as well as restarting stalled talks on Turkey’s accession to the EU. These terms were to be put before the conference opening in Brussels Sunday, between EU officials and Turkish prime minister Ahmed Davutoglu.

DEBKAfile: Turkey is widely criticized by EU members for its lack of respect for the rule of law and fundamental rights, especially in view of President Tayyip’s increasingly autocratic conduct. On the other hand, the refugee crisis preys heavily on Europe.
