  • Poverty and possible solutions...

I have just read in another thread that an elderly couple in Armenia are given $13 dollars a month to live on and they are freezing to death. Is this how it is??? I find that almost impossible to believe...

I want to use this as a brain storming thread by people living in Armenia. When you travel across your country what do you see that could be done to help people that cannot help themselves.

What is your structure for the social care of people in the "Poverty trap". If they are elderly or disabled, what do you do for them???

Thai, he is an Englishmen from England.

Obi, hardly any of us live in Armenia. Good luck finding someone like that.

THe majority of Armenians get support from the outside...

        Huh?

I live in England. We have state Benefits and a pension sheme for the elderly. Nursing homes for really old or disabled. I spent 3 years doing charity work, yes, free, for age concern. A large charity that provides help, care and entertainment for old people that still have active minds yet their bodies are finding it harder to cope.

Do you know Armenias social structure???

There are pensions in Armenia for the elderly, disabled and for war veterans..however, these pensions are not enough because Armenia still has a limited budget.

The elderly and unemployed and many other Armenians are supported by family members abroad and NGOs.

And don't tell us from your peace-loving British perspective that we should stop spending on our military, because you do not make sense and do not have the smallest amount of knowledge on the region's history or geopolitical situation.

Thank you for the first two paragraphs, that was what I asked. The third relates to another topic, not this one.

Mr Dants, are we capable of seperating issues and actually moving on in Armenia, or is it something you have a problem with?

I know, I know, the limited budget sucks.
Pyunik, do you live in Armenia now???

Yes..thank you for the kind words oh wise one..

It's funny how everybody here is younger than you, and every single one demolished you in any argument you ever had.

I'd rather be young and smarter than you than old and...well, dumber than me.

I'm sorry, I'm usually not mean, but I reaaaaaaaaally despise your attitude..
