Overall, a well written article. However, it lacks sociopolitical insight and balance. These modern *socialists* are nothing but Communist leftovers.

Socialism can only be successful if it is allowed to naturally evolve out of Capitalism. You can't impose Socialism, I thought we had made that mistake once before. Today, the only place where socialism has been successful is western and northern Europe, everywhere else, its a failure. Even the Chinese, who altogether are another story, have realized this much. Armenia is hurting today because new nation's go through growing pains. Moreover, our problems are compounded because we are surrounded by primitive nations who don't understand civilized concepts.

Nonetheless, I would like to see Armenia one day balance Capitalism with Socialism, much like America has done. Because too much of any one thing is not good for your health.

I always thought America was pretty much a pure capitalism (look at the healthcare and education). I think Scandenavian countries have a much better marriage of free market where it can work and government ownership where it counts (quality of life services).

Only in outwards appearence is America a purely Capitalistic nation. Look at the various social agencies, social security, unions, welfare ect. Also take into consideration the heavy governmental regulation of the industry within the states. No Amercia is not a a pure Capitalistic nation. As a matter of fact, I don't think there are any left today.

Of course, America pales in comparrison to Scandenavian nations within the realm of socialism. However, socialism evolved naturally within the region is question. Moreover, they already had a high living standard, thus, socialism helped maintain it. In the case of Armenia: Yes, communism helped build a nation that had fallen into a thousand years of utter dispair. Now, however, for us to partake in the global economy we need some capitalism.

Strict forms of Socialism is only going to stall our economic potential and momentum. And when that happens, you will become just like your backward neighbors. I don't know why we Armenians always have the tendency of comparing our nation with *Scandenavia,* or even Jews for that matter. Every region in the world, every nation, is unique and, thus, should be treated as such.

Socialism is the bankrupt ideology of collectivism and re distribution of wealth. 70 plus years of Socialist bliss is the reason why the Caucus and Armenia in particular is in shambles today. It will take a while before recovering from the corosive effects of socialist nonsense.
