Really? But they are and have been the very substance, the fabric and the reason that when push comes to shove we have fought bravely in earlier times and we can and will do it again.

Armenians never sign a surrender………….we send the messenger back in a gift rapt.

For Turkey to even make it a precondition is an insult that they must make an apology for.
If they are smart they will accept our leaders preconditions to the letter unless they want to see a new borders of NKR and a bunch of pissed off world powers because Turkey failed yet again to live up to its expectations.

I agree about the insult part and i dont see surrender anywhere being signed. As for the threats, neither Armenia nor kharabagh are in any position to make threats.

Your argument is based on the assumption that neither Armenia nor Russia want or need the open border between turckey and armenia but this is a false assumption to have. These nagotiations only started because all sides have much to gain by opening borders. The armenian authorities are not stupid, they know more about the situation then we do and will make the right decisions for Armenia, the diaspora shouldnt go against the government, it needs to work with it. The azeris feel they are strong enough now to take on Armenia and win back kharabagh, the only reason they have not done so is because they saw what russia does to states that go against it. As for the border opening or not it really doesnt matter to russia but it matters to us. Russia can run the azeri oil through itself to europe or it can run it through armenia to europe, either way it controls the rout but armenia can gain economicaly only if it runs through armenia and the borders open. Most people seem to downplay the benefits of open borders but armenia has a great deal to gain by them. Right or wrong, you dont get anywhere wo compromises and giving up something you dont have for something very tangible is a open and shut case. It is natural for people to think with their hearts but you cannot afford to do that when it comes to international affairs.

Absolutely correct, most people discount the benefit of open borders. Nations that have extensive trade, investment and economic relations with one another do not generally start wars, undermine or sabotage the other. Fact, the more they have invested in each other the more there is to lose. Take the EU as a case study and how trade has significantly improved the living standards of nations that once were at war with each other. No country gets wealthy by isolating itself or being in a state of war with its neighbours. The living standards and security of people in Armenia, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia etc will get a boost when relations are normalised and the wealth and success of each is tied to the wealth and success of the other. As imperfect a document as these protocols may be, it needs to be embraced if mutual benefits are derived. Some people here shouldn't get wrapped up with discussions of national pride or clever negotiating tactics that will lead to nothing but a continuation of the current status quo.

With regards the Armenian - Turkish relations a lot of focus is concentrated in the relations between the two countries and not enough between inter Armenian relations with the danger polarization between the different layers of opinion.

I think one of the causes of this is the attitude of our leaders who seem to have contempt for grass root opinions and feeling.
I do not mean official Armenian government but I do not exclude them.

This may be a weak link in the long run for our nation's enemies to take advantage of.

What is this insult? Why is President Serge Sarsgyan accepting telephone calls from a foreign minister? He should be demanding to be talking to an equal ranked leader, Barack Obama. Hillary can talk to Edward.
