Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

  • Re: Armenian Georgian Relations

That's just how dumb it all seems. That's like Canada souring relations with the U.S. and leaning towards Russia... oddly enough that might become reality when the two start digging the arctic for resources.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved a loan for Georgia, amounting to $750m (£418m).

It is aimed at rebuilding the country's currency reserves and boosting confidence in its economy following last month's conflict with Russia.

Analysts say the money could offset any difficulty Georgia might have in selling products abroad or in attracting foreign investment.

The approval came as Nato chief Jaap de Hoop Scheffer was visiting Tbilisi.

He called for Georgia's "accelerated" integration with Nato and condemned Russia's conduct in the conflict.

But Mr de Hoop Scheffer - speaking at the first meeting of the Nato-Georgia Commission - did not say when Georgia might join the alliance.

    EU aid

A third of the IMF loan will be released immediately, with the rest to come in stages over the next 18 months

NATO doesn't want Georgia in its alliance, especially France & Germany. They rather preserve good ties with Russia rather than have small, troublesome Georgia in their ranks - and I don't blame them. After the war, Georgia's chances for NATO membership took a nosedive.

US senators were lobbying for a NATO missile defense radar to be installed in Georgia supposedly as a deterrence from Iran. Russia isn't that dumb, but Georgian land is definitely strategic for both the US and Israel whether it's to surround Russia or act as a satellite state for Israel.

The US and UK is pushing Georgia into the alliance. Germany, Italy and France is against it. The US push has decreased slightly due to the August 2008 war but as long as the neocons still have a voice and Russophobia continues, the calls will not disappear. Anti-Russian (or anti-Putin, as the Georgians do not hate the Russians) sentiment in Georgia is still quite high.

Well there has to be unanimous support, when you have major powers such as France and Germany opposing you can't have any progress in that progress. Remember most of Europe relies on Russian gas, they very well know the consequences of an angry Russia, and they rather keep Georgia out of the alliance than deal with Russia. US, especially with Obama, distanced itself from Saakashvili after his irresponsible actions, of course giving symbolic support, but relations have cooled nonetheless. And finally NATO doesn't want to be drawn into a conflict with Russia over some territories. Georgia has responded by warming relations with Iran, and trying to balance their foreign policy more.

The Nabucco pipelines are supposed to solve Europe's Russian supply problem but looks like there are some kinks in the plan that still need to be worked out. Armenians seem to be in the way yet again of a pan turkic sea from east to west

Right, nabucco pipeline, what waste, most of the money goes to specifically blockading Armenia than anything else. Plus, if Azeris attack with help of Russia, we are blowing those pipelines up and there goes their precious project.

They've sort of thought of that which is why there are plans for a north and south stream. The north stream would be controlled by Azerbaijan and Georgia while the south runs through northern Iran. So to disrupt flow to Europe, it would have to be cut off at both the north and south points or be shut down at Erzurum (Karin) where the pipes would "T" off.

This is what makes Armenia so important to Russia's Gazprom. You can see why France doesn't care for Georgia since they are relying on Russian gas anyways.

For Hayastan to prosper in the long term, we need direct access to either caspian sea or black sea( preferably). We can't afford to rely on russia. What if someday all the gas/oil is empty in caspian sea, why would Russia be Armenia's strategic and economical ally?
The conclusion is for armenia to survive either georgia or Azerfakejan needs to go, or we go.

Aliyev has decided that Georgia is the one to go first

Azerbaijani Official Urges Georgia To Curb Armenian Access To Black Sea

"Aliyev claimed the Armenian presence in Georgia's Black Sea region of Ajara is part of a long-term plan to annex the area. "For Armenians, access to the Black Sea means the realization of the idea of a 'Greater Armenia from sea to sea,'" Azerbaijan's APA news agency reported on February 24."

"[The Black Sea resorts of] Kobuleti, Batumi, and other regions in Ajara are being 'Armenianized,' Armenians are being resettled there," Aliyev claimed. "This is a great threat. Taking into account the fact that in 2009-10 hundreds of Ajaran families moved from Ajara to other regions of Georgia as migrants, we'll see where these processes will lead the Georgians."
