I studied abroad and that's what I mean by "spent time in Diaspora". BTW my first contact with Disaporan Armenians was in Armenia not in Diaspora. I was fortunate to know very well a group of Armenian students from Syria, Lebanon and Iraq who were studying in the Armenian SSR. I swear to God I have never met more patriotic young Diaspora Armenians than these guys in my entire life. They left after they finished but they all are still very close family friends to us. Unfortunately one of them was literally shot dead by a fuken American marine in Baghdad last year, killed for absolutely no reason! Anyway, I have never had any prejudices against our brothers and sisters from Diaspora.

Nobody is happy with the way the Kremlin has us by the balls. However, can you see another alternative, another scenario? The honest answer, one without blind nationalism and utter ignorance, would be a resounding, no. Thus, the ARF has to either give us a viable alternative, or accept the hard realities of living in the Caucasus. At this stage in our national development and regional geopolitics, we Armenians have no choice but to give into all of Russia's demands. Our republic exists as a result of the Kremlin. This will be hard for any nationalist to swallow, but in the big picture this is the reality. It took me many years to accept and finally find comfort in this reality.

I agree with most of what you said... Russia is our only [current] solution and so does the ARF agree with this. While some ARF members might view Russia in a negative light (according to your word), nowhere has there ever been even a fringe public outcry against Russia by the party and I don't think one of the most experienced and oldest party is dumb enough to do so if they ever become the ruling majority. It most probably is just something that is hard to swallow for the nationalist party, as you said.

I can communicate in the most perfect Eastern Armenian, so perfect that when you hear it your jaw will drop down and when you read it your eyes will pop out. I also can communicate in the most horrific Russo-Turko-Armenian street slang that only the hardcore criminals can understand. These are the two extremes of my knowledge of my language. In between them I can freely communicate with anyone I want, from a simple street seller to a university professor because I speak their language. Plus, I spent enough time in the Diaspora to speak all the versions of Western Armenian as well, from absolutely fuked up arabahayeren and arrogant upper class bolsahayeren to only-God-knows-what-the-hell-is-that-hayeren of the majority of Disaporans.

Besides the Armenian language I also speak, read and write in 5 other languages.
