  • Ara, es ov a?

So me and some friends were typing are names into Urbandictionary.com to see what fun definition was there for our names, and the first definition that came up for "Ara" was

"Ara: eastern Armenian way of saying dude

Example: 'ara, es ov a?! = Dude, who is this?!' "

132 people agreed with the definition and 20 disagreed. I guess my question is, is this a real slang term/expression in Eastern Armenian? (many of the definitions that get posted on that site are inside jokes)

Yes, they really do say that. And it's confusing as xxxx because every other WA male is named Ara.

Of course not, that would be the EA's name.

that's what i thought but then i also thought that nobody names their kid "Gor," but apparently i was wrong. I think a barskahye told me once that they used "Gor" for hell.

But fyi, if you plan on living in and making a family in a French, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Turkish, speaking country, don't name your kid "Ara"
