In these two videos there are two factions, the Greek Orthodox and Armenian Orthodox. The fight is said to have started because the Greek Orthodox monks were present during a service that was supposed to be reserved for the Armenian Orthodox. The idea of "love" flew out the window. And from what i see is that the Armenians were the ones who lost the plot entirely.

there's always scuffles over there but the only ones to actually start brawls are armenians and greeks, wierd

As you pointed out it was the greeks who were present when they knew not to be. Since the two churches can't handle themselves properly they have their own days, but too often the greek clergymen decide to stick their nose in Armenian affairs. They got punished by out warrior-monks and will get punished again if they decide to interfere once more.

Yes but the so called rules were that a Greek Orthodox guardian be present during the Armenian festival of the Holy Cross. If you watch carefully the Armenian priest in red is throwing most of the punches while the majority are just shocked and defending. Then the part I want you to watch really carefully is when the Police drag the Armenian priest dressed in red over to where the Greek Orthodox have grouped together. Its like the police wanted them to fight and they are giving the Armenian to the Greeks.... am i right or what?

Maybe they should rethink the policy of having a Greek present at Armenian events and vice versa.

Why would they do that? If they are supposed to be on the same side worshipping the same God, then why create a schizm? It's totally fair for anyone to participate at such a ceremony, Jesus refused no-one not even a prostitute. Your kind of statement is juvenile. Orthodox nations should be closer in political relations and church affairs, they shouldn't be hitting each other in public...

What the heck is the difference between Greek Orthodox and Armenian Orthodox? Their almost identical. Besides you forget that the Patriach of Constantinople is still the head of the Eastern Orthodoxies including Russia and Armenia, despite the trivial politics and autonomous nature of other orthodox churches, the center of it will always be Constantinople.

Besides you forget that the Patriach of Constantinople is still the head of the Eastern Orthodoxies including Russia and Armenia, despite the trivial politics and autonomous nature of other orthodox churches, the center of it will always be Constantinople.

Ok it's obvious that you are Greek, and one with a byzantine mentality at that. While I agree Orthodox churches should be closer, the greek orthodox church has always tried to screw over the Armenian Apostolic Church, and in recent times even screwed, to a lesser extent, the Russian Orthodox Church.

And bs, the patriarch of constantinople doesn't have any jurisdiction over the Armenian Church, we have our own Catholicos who is on the same level as the pope and patriarch of constantinople. Our church is not part of Eastern Orthodoxy, it is in a loose communion with the so called "Oriential Orthodox Churches" The head of OUR church has been and always will be at Etchmiadzin, not constantinople or rome.

Its like the USA who have an autonomous Orthodox Church but calls itself American Orthodox. They are trivial eventually every province will have some kind of brand of Orthodoxy. And why else is it trivial? Because if we take all the Orthodox churches back to the year 1000AD and they were asked to change or conform the only living church that wouldnt change anything would be Greek Orthodoxy. It's role has always been to preserve the faith as it was before the schizm and before the disolution of the Byzantine empire. That is its importance to other Orthodox faiths. That is why the Patriarch of Constantinople is still recognised in the East, maybe not by the likes of you but certainly by the Orthodox churches in the east.

And you seem to think that Oriental Orthodox Churches sprouted from nowhere? Armenia was for several thousand years a part of Byzantium. Cappadocia (Western Armenia) and the Pontian Mountains North of Turkey were mainly Greek populated for thousands of years. Parts of modern Armenia were considered Byzantine Protected states. And it was during this time that Orthodoxy flourished. Then after 1453AD the Armenian state lost its Protecter state to the Turks of whom grabbed for Byzantine territories eg Western Armenia. From then on the Armenians were left without a head of church because Constantinople was occupied. The Turks forced the Patriarch of Constantinople to be responsible for the Greek populations only. The Armenians then developed a new church heirarchy and established autonimous control over their affairs during Ottoman rule. The last impact was Russian occupation of Armenia where till now the Etchmiadzin is located in Russia.

There should be a re-evaluation of what each Orthodoxy represents because currently it looks like everyone thinks they are different from everyone else where infact they all have the same origin.
