Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

And phenotypically speaking Armenians look more middle eastern than European. Even if the non european looking president of Armenia says armos think of themselves as europeans, wishing you were something you are not, doesn't make it so
What you have written is the reverse of reality. Asia begins to the north of the Caucasus, to the north of the Black Sea. Russia is in Asia. In European tradition Gog and Magog, symbolising Asiatic hordes, were held behind a vast wall that restricted them to the northern side of the Caucasus, in Asia.

        Re: Western Armenians

I like to see it this way: we are Araratians. xxxx Middle East, xxxx Caucasus. We originated in Urartu. Armenian Highlands = Urartu. We are the last people of Ararat, the mythical ancient homeland of the Sumerians (the first civilization of the world), our homeland is the cradle of the cradle of civilization.

But if we're talking geopolitically, we are Transcaucasians. On the line that separates Europe from Asia from the Caucasus Mountains, but we're on the Middle East side. We get to benefit from both Europe and the Middle East.

Russia is Europe, BUT its federative states are well into Asia. If Russia was to split and become a republic, Russia would be the European side of the current federation. Caucasus is the region that divides the Middle East from Europe. We're on the Middle East side, Chechens, for example, are on the Europe side.

LOL, Pedro! Where did you get the photo of the Armenian girl? I know her lol.
For the first time in more than 600 years, Armenia is free and independent, and we are therefore obligated
to place our national interests ahead of our personal gains or aspirations.

Re: Which continent is Armenia in?

Geographically speaking, Europe finds its end where the Greater (Northern) Caucasus mountains find their end, that is to say from the start of Abkhazian-Russian border (south of Sochi) in the West, going all the way down to the Absheron peninsula (roughly ending where Baku is). Generally talking, Europe ends in the natural border between Russian with Abkhazia, Georgia and South Ossetia, and Russia with Azerbaijan. Armenia is located in the South Caucasus, that is to say entirely in Asia.

However, our language is indo-european, our people's ethnic race is Caucasian/Anatolian, and culturally we share both European and Near/Middle Eastern, which is normal for our ancient location as a bridge between Europe and Asia.

I have a book describing what Armenians are ethnically/racially speaking from the point of view of individuals and from the point of view of our region, I could post it here if anyone's interested.

Taken from the book The Atlas of Human Races by J.M. Thomas-Doménech and A. Padilla. Barcelona, Spain, March 1972.
                  Selection H, page No. 7.
Based on the original documents, dating April-December 1902.

Translated directly from Spanish by me.

                  --------------------------------------------------------------------
                  The Anatolians

The Anatolian race, also known as Armenoid or Armeniaca, is extended all the way through Asia Minor, the South Caucasus, and Persia. From it, we can distinguish three groups (sub-races); the Kurds, the Persians, and properly, the Armenians.

The Kurds inhabit the region of Kurdistan, the North of Persia, and parts of the South Caucasus. The Persians extend through the Persian regions of Aryan, Afghan and Balouch. The Armenians, who extend throughout the geographical region of the Armenian Highland, present raciological varieties which will be defined later, constituting a very homogeneous sub-race.

                  Morphological characteristics:
Thick type, short legs; medium height, 1,65 m. to 1,75 m. average. High skull, brachycephalic and flat-occipital, with a straight face. Long facial characters, high nose, rather fleshy, straight or convex profile and with a high blunt. Skin color raging from Caucasian white to Eastern brown according to the region. Hairy eyebrows, slightly united within the medium point. Facial and body pilosity rather abundant.

The Armenian sub-race distinguishes from the others because of a major brachycephaly; an always convex, not fleshy, nose; white skin, either dark or dark-brown hair, and abundant pilosity.

                  Social organization:
The Armenians and the Kurds group within family and patriarchal tribes, lead by a chief. The Persians groups in social classes.

The Kurds are monogamous, although the law approves the polygamy. Not like these are the Persians, who posses as many wifes as they can keep, and which matrimony is verified by the 'buying' of the women. The Armenians are monogamous as well, and the matrimony is given approval by the parents of the women.

                  Housing:
The Kurds are either farmers or nomadic pastoralists. The first ones live in huts made with stones or unfired bricks, dried by the sun. The second ones live in canvas tents.

The Persians build housings by clay and straw bricks dried by the sun and equipped with two floors, the second one intended for living, the first one intended for the keeping of the animals. Every single village or city are protected by walls.

The Armenians live in quadrangular houses, covered by terraces or domes. They whitewash the exterior surfaces of dwellings with lime in order to shelter from the long and dry summers, while covering with fur and carpets their houses from the long and cold winters.

                  Religion and beliefs:
The Kurds and the Persians are Muslim (Shiites and Sunnis). However, the Kurds also practice the Yezidism, considered their traditional religion.

The Armenians are Christian in their majority, comprehending as well a Muslim minority called the Hamshens.

                      survey says: Asia
