If I walked into a cafe or stayed at a hotel and they asked where I am from, would people do anything about it? How could I expect to be treated?

What would happen if an Armenian visited Turkey?

If a Turk went to Armenia I don't think you would have much issue at all unless you purposefully did something to trigger sensitive emotions.

There have been several articles out lately about Turks visiting armenia and being left with good impressions. One of they really stood out but I can't seem to find the article right now (its late here). Basically, two men from turkey were speaking in Turkish and an Armenian understood them and went to speak to them. They asked how he knew turkish and he said "I won't tell you the whole story because you are our guests here, but your grandfather did something to my grandmother and in a Syrian Orphanage where she was not allowed to speak armenian, she learned turkish. My turkish is a legacy to my grandmother" ... If i remember it correctly they had a great talk and the two turks actually ended up buying some of the mans artwork.

As for an Armenian in Turkey, well lots of Hyastanci's vacation and travel to Turkey I dont think there is much issue, especially in Istanbul. They are very european and liberal there (for the most part).

I would recommend you the wonderful book "Ağrı'nın Derinliği" written by Ece Temelkuran (a close friend of Hrant Dink).
Mrs. Temelkuran travelled many countries (Armenia, France, USA) and talked to Armenians in order to write their stories.
When you read that book, you see how attitudes of Armenians towards Turks vary, even in Armenia. Though Mrs. Temelkuran is an intellectual and elegant journalist, she faces with very different treatments.

I would think that Armenians would have some doubts on why the Turk is visiting their country but would all continue to do mind their own business unless you created suspicion for arousing some difficulties. Most people in the world are nice if you treat them with respect and mind your own business and do what you have to do without affecting others in a negative way

That depends actually. When my friend had visited Armenia last year he said that people were rude and wanted to randomly start fights. When he was walking guys who were 18 or around their 19-21s would randomly when walking in front of my friend trying to stop and hold him back and not move. My friend got pist and he bumped into one of the guys and kept going.
From what i heard they're pretty big xxxxs over there.
