Western Armenians tend to write their Armenian names or words in latin (including English) just as pronounced orally. With that said, they say/ write (in latin letters) Kurken (Գուրգէն), Karnig (Գառնիկ), Kyle (գայլ) and so on.

No, Lucin jan, they write them as all Armenians would; they don't change the spellings. They only pronounce them differently. That's why they still spell քայլ and գայլ different although they pronounce both the same way. But in the case of Kyle, the name, it's an American name which should always be pronounced Ք, so it must be written with a Ք.

Aww I've always wanted my name to be wolf. Now I find out it's only Wolf in Western Armenian when pronounced. Ah well. Better than nothing I suppose

It all depends on what dialect you speak at home Kyle. If you speak Western Armenian at home, then the way you spell it, Գայլ (Kayl - wolf) or Քայլ (Kayl - step), would not matter as Western Armenians pronounce these two exactly the same way and only differentiate in context (rather easily as Siggie pointed out).

But if you want to compromise between both dialects and get both Western Armenians and Eastern Armenians to say your name correctly, then I suggest you go with the Քայլ spelling given that both dialects pronounce this the same way.

This would again only be a "problem" with Western Armenians since գոտի is "kodi" for them and "goti" for Eastern Armenians.

Sig, haven't you come across names such as Krikorian, Karekin, Kalust in English? Yes, they (WAs) only pronounce them differently but write as we do in Armenian. What I meant was their names written in English lettres which reflects exactly how they pronounce.

Yes, of course. I think the confusion was with the fact that Kyle is an American name, so the pronunciation isn't flexible, therefore it has to be spelled with Ք.
